boomer12342
Hi, Im Boomer12342, and this is my first guide on TIF. In my guide you will find out how to effectively use the Customs Evidence Lockers on The Rock to make some money. EDIT: Seems as if my thread hasn't kept the interest of everyone, and I'm not getting any posts anymore :( If you read my guide, then please post, tell me what you think of it, tell me how it could be improved, if you have any questions, ect. Disclaimer: These are the fastest ways to make money using the thieving skill. The downside is that it takes time to do this. Each trip takes me approximately 30 minutes from start to finish. [hide=Ratings for My Guide from other players]Over All (Rounded to "Out of 10"): 9.5/10 Thanks for the guide! 10/10. 9/10, nice guide.[/hide] This is NOT the fastest way to get experience though. If you are looking for experience, I suggest you go elsewhere. High Level Option Requirements: For the purpose of this guide, you will need the following Requirements: Completed the quest, Rocking Out Completed the quest, Gnome Stronghold Highly Recommended: A house in Rimmington Level 40 mage Getting There: Blue Teleport to Falador, use the shortcut under the wall. Red Teleport to Falador Green Skills Necklace Teleport to Crafting Guild Pink Teleport to House Yellow Teleport to Port Sarim jail from Shanty Pass (Information on that can be found here) The building circled in red is where you need to go. You cannot take any items with you to The Rock, so you must bank them using the lockers in the northeast corner of the building. When you have EVERYTHING banked, talk to the sleeping Customs Sergeant to be shipped off to The Rock. [hide=][/hide] Welcome back to your cell (with the big gaping hole in the back! How convenient) Start off by going to your equipped items tab and remove both parts of your prison uniform. Right click and destroy both of them. Now, search the bed on the floor to find Capn Izzys Crude Picklock. Right click on the cell door, and click open. Kill the Customs Officer that will attack you, then pick up his/her full outfit, and put it on. Go ahead and right click and destroy your crude picklock now, too. [hide=][/hide] Continue up the stairs, then just slightly east of the stairs you just went up, go up another flight of stairs. [hide=][/hide] Welcome to the Customs Evidence Files Locker Room. Possible Loot: (This is taken from Tip.its thieving guide, and altered slightly by me so that it is more reader-friendly) Scimitars (Bronze, Iron, Steel, or Rune) Iron/Gold/Mithril bars Coins (~60-300) Cooked sharks Striped pirate shirts (Brown) Eyepatches Pirate boots Uncut gems (sapphire to diamond) Level 2 Clue Scrolls But what items are worth keeping? Here is what I recommend: Mithril Bars Coins Uncut Gems Clue Scroll Shark Gold Bars (Optional, I personally do not keep them, as I can get more money from the gems or other items) Iron Bars - (Optional, I personally do not keep them, as I can get more money from the gems or other items) Training: You can start from any locker you want. The lockers take about 3 minutes to respawn, though by the time you check every locker, your starting one should have respawned, or is about to respawn. Every time you ransack a locker, there is a chance that you will be seen by a Customs Officer, and attacked. As you cannot thieve from the lockers while under attack, you have to kill the Officer, then continue on steeling. There are a couple ways to block the guards though. Most of them are temporary, but still effective enough to let you loot one or two more lockers before being attacked. [hide=Way 1]Side Stepping Often while stealing from lockers on corners, such as the one shown above, a guard will get trapped behind a corner, and will not be able to attack you. In the above picture, I am the one to the right of the opened locker, and the guard trying to attack me is above the locker. This is just a temporary way to stop from being attacked. Once you move one square down, right, or up, you will be attacked.[/hide] [hide=Way 2]Person Blocking The guy above circled in red is the only un-attackable NPC on this floor. He is the only one holding a stack of folders/books, so you can easily tell who it is. He is the only one that will not try to stop you from stealing from the lockers! He is also very effective for blocking other officers from getting to you. Sure, other attackable Officers in the room can be used to block ones trying to attack you, but if you are trying to steal from a locker, there is a good chance that they may attack you as well! So its better to stick with the book-carrying guy. The picture below shows the guy with the books blocking the NPC from being able to attack me. [/hide] [hide=Way 3]Trapping The third and final way, is quite hard to achieve. It is recommended you have protect melee, so you dont lose too much hp. It is possible to trap 3 out of 4 Customs Officer in the little room. Unfortunately, the fourth one cant roam far enough to reach the room. But, it is still very helpful to have most of them out of the way! Here are some tips to get them in there: - The only male officer that can go in the room has a limited roaming range as well. You CANNOT go to the right side of the room, otherwise he will turn away. You have to walk in and go to the left side of the room. - Dont equip a weapon, and turn auto-attack off. This makes it so that you are less likely to accidentally kill them while you are trying to lure them in. - Watch out for the NPC with the books! He can block the officers from heading towards the room. A way to solve this is to step on the square the NPC is standing, and then step towards the room. This allows the officers to move underneath the book guy, and head towards you. - Put on Protect Melee! This saves you a lot of HP! - Watch out for the bookshelves. The officers often get caught on them, similar to the sidestepping method. When they do get caught, be careful about going out of that NPCs roaming range. The Pros and Cons of using this Trapping Method: Cons: - Can possibly take a while to do - May cost you a lot of HP, or your life! If you arent careful that is - They respawn out side of the room in about 2-3 hours time Pros: - After you trap them, there is a much less likely chance that you will be attacked! So you can decide if it is worth it to trap them or not![/hide] Finishing Up: After you have gotten a full inventory (or just want to leave The Rock), head all the way back downstairs, and right click and enter your cell again. Head through the hole in the wall, then head, north, then east, and go on the little pier. There is an option at the end of the pier to jump off. Items you cannot take off the island with you include: - Anything of the Customs Uniform, including a Mithril Scimitar. - Crude Lockpick. - Either piece of your jail uniform You will end up on the coast of Karamja, conveniently next to the Gnome Glider. Using the Gnome Glider, fly to the Grand Tree (Ta Quir Priw, as its called on the map) Here, you have one of two options. Im going to start with the one I use. [hide=Option 1]After arriving at the Grand Tree, go over to the ladder, then climb down twice. Once on the 2nd floor of the Grand Tree, head west, then south, and access either of the two near-by banks. Bank everything you have gotten from that trip, then take out the required objects for your method of teleporting. (Skills Necklace, Falador Teleport Runes/Falador Tablet, House Teleport Runes, Teleport to House tablet) Continue down to Rimmington, and repeat going to The Rock. If you used a Skills Necklace, then put it in the storage locker in the Customs Office before you leave (you are going to be forced anyway).[/hide] [hide=Option 2]After arriving at the Grand Tree, use the Gnome Glider once more, and fly to Al Khared (Kar-Hewo, as on the Gnome Glider map) then head south. Bank at either the Al Khared bank, or continue down to Shanty Pass and bank there. Either way, head down to Shanty Pass and talk to Shanty. Say the following things to him (I will post them in text too in case anyone cannot see the pictures): For those of you who cannot see the above picture, I have the worded version here: What is this place? Im defiantly an outlaw, prepare to die! No thanks, youre not having my money. No, do your worst! After that last option, you will be sent to the Port Sarim High Security Prison. Just right click on the door, choose, Pick-Lock, and then youre free! From Port Sarim prison, head west to get to Rimmington.[/hide] Bringing it all together: By this point, you may be wondering how much exp you get per hour, and how much money per hour. I figured that you get roughly 20k Thieving Experience per hour. You get roughly 50k-120k per hour. (It all depends on how lucky you are with getting those rune scimmys!) This estimate of cost does not include the reward for a level 2 clue scroll if you happen to get one. This method of thieving isnt the best experience or money, but if you need some extra crafting or smithing experience, this is a good way to get that for free. Also, remember common courtesy: if someone was there before you, go to a different world. If you were just returning from a bank-trip, then nicely tell them that, and nicely ask if they will leave. If they wont, just go to a different world yourself. [hide=Video]NOTE: In this Video, DISREGARD THE PART ABOUT THE RUNE SCIMITAR. I had guessed that you would drop it if you had a full inventory, but I was wrong. You still keep it equipped. So again, you can disregard the part about the Rune Scimmy. [/hide] _________________________________________________________________ Low Level Way Since the majority of players cannot get to The Rock for the Customs evidence lockers, I have decided to add on to my guide and include something for everyone of a lower level. Required: The quest, Death to the Dorgeshuuun, completed Recommended: Gloves of Silence Started the quest, Recipe For Disaster (for slightly faster banking) Or a Glory Amulet H.A.M. Clothing Getting There: Red Path Glory Teleport to Draynor, direct path to trapdoor Green Path Glory Teleport to Draynor, avoiding jail guards (for low leveled players) Cyan Path Lumbridge/Home Teleport Once there, look in the north-west corner of the building to find a Trapdoor. Right Click and choose Pick-Lock. Climb down when you get it open. Follow the path, and go through the door to find yourself in a large room filled with H.A.M. members. Go to the south end of the room, behind the central stage. Right click on the ground behind the two torches to find a trap door. Right click and pick-lock it. (The ground is light-brown where the door is) Climb down the trap door to find yourself in the storage room. The trick down here is to avoid letting the guards see you while trying to open a door, other wise you will be attacked. Try to open the door when they arent facing you. You may have to kill a guard to get in a room though. Starting Training: To get keys, you need to pickpocket the guards. The following is all that you can get from pick-pocketing the guards: (I got this from Tip.its Thieving Guide, and altered it slightly to make it a little more reader-friendly) - Bronze, iron, steel, or silver key - Level 1 clue scroll - Coins - Cowhide - Herbs - Leather body - Logs - Needle - Thread - Tinderbox - Uncut gems - Raw anchovies - Raw chicken - H.A.M. clothing - Bronze iron or steel arrows, axe, dagger, pickaxe - Buttons - Damaged armour - Rusty sword etc. What to keep out of all of that? Id just say keep the Gems, Keys, Coins, and Clue Scrolls, Raw Chicken, 1 Tinderbox, Logs, and H.A.M. clothing (the clothing is optional). Or, if you are going to take option three (see below) then you will be taking the damaged armour and rusty swords. Why the Tinderbox, raw chicken and logs you ask? Because if you are low on HP, then you can just simply make a fire down there, cook the chicken, and then you have instant food! It may not heal much, but some is better than none. Jagex has stated that wearing pieces of H.A.M. clothing gives you a less likely chance of being caught. If you have Gloves of Silence, dont trade those for H.A.M. gloves though. The gloves of Silence are much more useful than the H.A.M. gloves. So now that you have keys, what should you do with all of them? Simple: Go to the Corresponding chest and open it up using the key. Refer to the below picture of the mini-map to find out which room to go to for which key. For every room, you must right click and picklock the door to get in. The bronze room has another option to get in though: There are cracks on the northern and southern wall of the bronze room where you just have to click to get in. This is much faster to use than pick-locking the door. Getting caught: Depending on your level, you will be caught trying to pick the guards pockets. You will be hit anywhere from 1-5 HP. Having a decent agility level also helps you not get hurt as much sometimes. Also, every once in a while you will locked up in the H.A.M. jail upstairs. To get out, just simply right click and choose Pick-Lock Finishing Training: Possible Loot from the chests: Un-enchanted jewelry (Gold to Diamond) (No bracelets) Gems (Sapphire to diamond) Coins Note: You can get more than 1 item per key. Note2: The chests only take about 1 second to respawn. Now you have three options to choose from when training: [hide=Option 1]In this method you will be keeping only the jewelry, gems, and coins. Once you have a full inventory of the said items, then you will leave, go to a bank, and either enchant all of the jewelry you can not, or bank them and do it later. When you have enchanted all of the jewelry you can, go to the Grand Exchange and sell everything on there (it is recommended min. price to sell faster). Sometimes unenchanted jewelry will not sell on the Exchange at all, so you can try seeing if someone will assist you (using the assist system) and then you can enchant and sell them, or if they wont sell at all, just alc them.[/hide] [hide=Option 2]When using this option, you will need a lot of nature runes, and a suggested fire staff. You will alc all of the jewelry and gems, and stay there until you run out of runes.[/hide] [hide=Option 3]Only use this method if you have access to an armour repair stand. Using this method, you will keep the damaged armour and rusty swords. You can take the keys and gather jewelry and gems too, but this is only recommended if you have alcing runes with you. Once you get a full inventory of the damaged armour and rusty swords, you will go bank them, or fix them. When you have fixed them, either alc them, or go to the Grand Exchange to sell them.[/hide] Rounding it Up: Unfortunately, I cannot figure out how much experience and money you can get per hour, as it all depends on your thieving level, if you are wearing gloves of silence, or if you are wearing full H.A.M. clothing or not. I can tell you a few things though, to consider what option to choose. You get 22.5 experience for pick-pocketing the guards in the store room, 22.5 from regular Male H.A.M. members (upstairs), and 18.5 from Female H.A.M. members (upstairs) Option One is the 2nd slowest way to train for money and experience, will give you decent amounts of experience per hour, but little amount of money. Option Two is the fastest way for experience, though may or may not make you money, because of the cost of the runes. Option Three is the slowest way for experience and money, but overall you will get the most money. __________________________________________________________________________________________ If you have questions, corrections, or such, then post them on this thread, or PM me in-game :P ~Boomer12342 RuneSlayer.comPsst, try refreshing! Death_Dude74
Your guide looks fine, though the method doesn't look spectacular as you said. You may consider posting your average xp/hour (5-15k every 10 minutes tops off at 90k with a minimum of 30k. That's a broad range). Also, perhaps your gp/hour. boomer12342
Alright, thanks. Pretty soon I was planning on actually trying to find out the average gp and exp per hour. I should have those updated within a couple hours. I just got done making a video for this, and I should have it uploaded on Youtube and have it on the thread in about a half hour. EDIT: I have updated the Disclaimer so that it correctly explains why you should use this method. EDIT: I have removed the information about the rune scimitar for when leaving the Rock. I had made an assumption, and just proved that I had made the wrong one. You do not drop the scimitar when leaving the island with a full inventory. I have updated the video. I have updated the average amount of money and the amount of experience per hour. RuneSlayer.comPsst, try refreshing! Watch the sig!
boomer12342
Is the video not appearing for anyone else :? I copied the object/embed code from Youtube, pasted it on the post, then put the youtube tags on either side of it :? But yet its not appearing? Can anyone else see it? EDIT: Never mind, I (somehow) got the problem fixed, and I can now see it. RuneSlayer.comPsst, try refreshing! Watch the sig!

boomer12342
HoMM88, I'm not sure if you can get randoms there or not. I personally have never gotten one, and am making a pure guess when saying that you more than likely cannot, as this is a quest place. Besides, the people who built the place probably don't want any (Wise) Old Men or any (Drill) Demons breaking you out of prison. ;) Next step to preventing breakouts: Fixing big gaping holes in the back of cells :D If anyone can prove me wrong, then please post and correct me :) RuneSlayer.comPsst, try refreshing! ajk822
Nice guide, very well explained. boomer12342
Prove me wrong! If you can get more than 100k in an hour from paladins, then I will change my title ;) And the HAM storeroom is intended for the lower levels. But the customs lockers are meant for higher leveled players, because it is VERY unlikely that a low level player would have killed the barrelchest anchor monster or have all the quest and skill requirements for Rocking Out. boomer12342
Please read my whole post before posting something. Especially something like that. When you have enchanted all of the jewelry you can, go to the Grand Exchange and sell everything on there (it is recommended min. price to sell faster). Sometimes unenchanted jewelry will not sell on the Exchange at all, so you can try seeing if someone will assist you (using the assist system) and then you can enchant and sell them, or if they wont sell at all, just alc them. Riza
Great guide, love the Customs Evidence Files. One annoying thing though; if you get a random that takes you away from Rock Island, you'll lose your Customs Officer uniform and will be attacked when you get back. Fortunately you can get the outfit right back, and you don't lose all your other items.
