How long would it take to get from level 45 prayer to 70 prayer?
How long would it take to get from level 45 mining to 70 mining?
How long would it take to get from level 45 smithing to 70 smithing?
Assuming never ever buying bones, or ore. (Also not picking up bones from Chaos Temple -- only from monsters you kill yourself, and ore you mine yourself).
And doing this as F2P so no dragon bones.
Also -- how often to people try this -- versus just buying their levels either by skilling and selling stuff (fish, herbs, whatever); or becoming a member and leveraging member items, alters, etc?

Assuming F2P And Never Buy Bones Or Ore....

Mining would be fairly quick if you powermined iron, prayer would take forever.
Smithing depends highly on the method.
Edit: Power mining iron is like 35k exp a hour? Smithing can be 30-60k superheating depending on the ore I believe.

To say that this update provokes inflation is like saying that taking home a bucket of sand from the beach will make it disappear. The amount of GP that enter and leave the game on a daily basis is about 8 to 10 times as high as the amount that entered the game’s economy yesterday by increasing the value of the climbing boots. Basically, the same amount of money per person could be made by chopping yew logs for a couple of hours and then alching the bows made - a relatively small one-off addition to the coins going through the game.
Here is my representation made in MSPaint on this. Mhttp://img571.imageshack.us/img571/3092/sandd.jpg

Prayer....good luck.
You can powermine iron, or bank it for your smithing needs. If you plan on not buying bones, just kill moss giants/hill giants/ice giants, depending on CB level. The best place for hill giants is in the wilderness above the Wilderness Volcano, never anyone there. I assume you know how to rid yourself of revenents.

For prayer, just range giants;
40-60 range- hill giants,
60-70+ range- moss giants,
70+- ice giants.
For mining and smith, superheating will be your best bet. You'll still have to buy natures though :/.

In addition -- does anyone when crafting mine their own gold ore, smelt it, get the gems from drops or mining, cut them, then make jewelry? Don't make d'hide armor unless you kill the dragon yourself? Not wearing armor unless you mine and smith it yourself (or from a quest)?
I keep reading on the forums that people mainly buy the items used to level up. How common is this compared to do everything yourself?

Prayer - Good luck.
Smithing - It's not that fast, but it is quite profitable if you superheat. Mine silver in the Crafting Guild, and superheat them into bars. 80gp profit per heat.
Mining - 30k-40k exp/hour powermining iron. Al-Kharid, Rimmington, and Hobogoblin's Mine are awesome places to do this.
Also, since the GE, people hardly DIY anymore. Buying stuff has become very efficient with it.
