Voting for the next Tournament's Theme has Started.

Information on voting:

Please vote for the following tournament types.

1. Monotype: Monotype teams are teams that only include 1 type of pokemon. Dual types, however, are allowed. For example, on a Fire monotype team, Charizard would be allowed since it is Fire Type, despite the fact that it is also Flying Type. For the monotype tournament, each contestant will be assigned a type of team and will play in a standard tournament with that monotype team. Monotype teams are tricky to make, yet very fun to play with.

2. NU Tier: Simple rules. Only Pokemon in the NU or NFE tier are allowed.

3. Little Cup: Only basic pre-evolutions (with some exceptions such as Meditite banned) are permitted. All Pokemon must be level 5 with legal movesets for that level. Otherwise, all basic rules apply.

[hide=Introduction]

This thread is branched off of the original Pokemon Thread, in which the first two tournaments were hosted. In an attempt to organize and differentiate between hosted tournaments and discussions, this thread was made solely for the results and conduction of tournaments.

Please note, these are competitive and serious battles. In addition, we currently only host tournaments via Pokemon Laboratory (preferred) and Shoddy Battle. However, Wifi tournaments are not an impossibility in the future.

Here is a link to a very helpful pokemon site. http://www.serebii.net/index2.shtml. For anyone who wants to battle online, this site has tons of movesets and strategies: http://www.smogon.com/. Both of these resources should help you get started in any tournaments.

[hide=Why we use Simulators]

First of all, both simulators mimic the real in-game mechanics nearly flawlessly (plus with serveral in-game bugs removed). Thus they are accurate alternatives. In addition, Wifi battles are slow to conduct and real life issues are often a problem for many competitors, so the shorter the battle is, the more practical the tournament as a whole becomes.

Simulators allow you to set realistic attributes to your Pokemon automatically. This cuts off hours and EV training, leveling, and trading/breeding to get "perfect" versions for the particular pokemon and set you are using. The ability to quickly and easily change the configuration of your team allows new strategies to be easily tested.

In addition, rules to allow more exciting and fair matches can be set. For example, one popular rule is that no more than one pokemon per team may be asleep at one time (except via Rest), allowing battles to be more than a "who can sleep the most Pokemon" war.

Finally, both simulators allow both parties to save a log of the entire battle, so if the result is ever disputed, it is much easier to determine the outcome.

[hide=Rules]

These are generally rules to be used in Shoddy Battle or PokeLab. Unless otherwise stated, they are what the current tournament will abide by.

OHKO Clause (No one-hit knockout moves)

Sleep Clause (No more than one pokemon asleep at one time)

Freeze Clause (No more than one pokemon frozen at one time)

Evasion Clause (No moves that boost evasion can be used. Moves that drop accuracy are allowed though)

Selfdestruct Clause (If you and the opponent only have one pokemon each remaining, you may not use self destruct, explosion, destiny bond, or perish song to end the game. If you do, then you automatically lose)

Species Clause (You may not have more than 1 of any pokemon)

Strict Damage Clause (Prevents information about your team from being leaked to other participants)

[hide=Banned pokemon list]

Some Pokemon are banned in tournaments to allow fairer and more interesting play. The general rule is that the following Pokemon are banned, but please note that the special rules of the current tournament may alter this:

[hide=Tournament Additional Rules]

The current tournament rules are as follows:

-This is a Simulator Tournament

-Standard Rules

-All listed Pokemon are banned

-In addition, any Pokemon from the Third, Fourth, or Fifth Generation are banned. This means only Pokemon that existed during or before the Gold, Silver, and Crystal Versions are permitted. And evolutions introduced later are also banned (ex. Gliscor, Tangrowth, etc.)

-Gen IV game mechanics

-Tournament is Swiss-Style

To sign up for this tournament, simply post on this thread with:

1. Your username for PokeLab (eg, your Smogon Forums username) -REQUIRED

2. A Shoddy Battle Username and server (optional, just in case you can't connect to PokeLab)

3. Your typically free time in which you can battle (optional)

You have until October 28th to sign-up

This Tournament will be Swiss-Style

When the tournament begins, you will be matched with another player, or given a bye if there are an odd number of entrants. You have one week to complete your match from the day that round is announced. Once the week is up, the next round begins and no points awarded to any standing matches. If all matches are completed before the week is up, the next round will begin immediately, so stay aware.

If you win your match, you earn 2 points. If you lose, you earn 1 point. If the match ends in a draw, each player earns 1.5 points.

If you fail to play the match, you earn 0 points. There is an exception. If you can prove that you attempted to set up a time for the match and your opponent either did not show up during the agreed time (AND does not notify you beforehand), OR your opponent did not respond to you at all, you earn 2 points for that round.

If you miss 2 rounds in a row, you are ejected from the tournament. Please try to attend all your matches. Note that this rule does NOT apply if you LOSE two matches, only if you fail to play two matches in a row.

If you have a bye for that round, you earn 1.5 points.

At the end of the round, new matching will be made. Generally, winners will be paired with winners and losers will be paired with other losers. When all rounds are completed, the player with the most points wins the tournament. The amount of rounds are determined by the amount of entrants.

Do we really the Pokelab or Smogon user seems like a waste of time for me to make an account I will never use again.

Otherwise explain why it's so important please.

Smogon: Poppet Hood.

Added.

Also, can you please make a PokeLab/Smogon account? PokeLab is a great improvement over Shoddy and there's no sense is using an inferior simulator when a better one is avaliable.

and, time zone?

Illegal movemets are illegal.

Pokelab is down for me too, so Shoddy should be used.

Also, you're in luck. I did a SRS for the first round, you have a bye.

1. Demoli v. Racheya

2. Masquerain v. riku3220

3. Zaaps1 v. roccodog

4. PBProductions - bye.

Rocco, whenever you're ready.

Noted.

Btw, on the notation in the matchups, 1-0 means whoever was first won, 0-1 means the second person won.
