I've noticed that whenever I post from my phone smilies don't work properly. All I do is enter the standard emoticon text shortcut (:P) but the image is broken when I post from my mobile.

It works fine if I post from the normal skin - I'll reply to the topic from my phone to demonstrate :P

The mobile skin seems to be looking for a .png image, whereas the full skin inserts a gif.

In 1970 the British Empire lay in ruins, foreign nationals frequented the streets - many of them Hungarians (not the streets, the foreign nationals).

Interesting... :?

Last night, checked this on the mobile skin with a tablet, and I could see the smilies on both posts. :)

Looking at it this morning with my desktop FireFox profile, and the first post shows the smiley, but not the second. :(

Sounds like a browser-specific issue to me, not a forum issue.  Likely something to do with MIME-Type sensing? <_<

The mobile skin replaces
:P
with <img src="http://forum.tip.it/...kin/tongue.png" class="bbc_emoticon" alt=":P">

The forum skin replaces it with <img src="http://forum.tip.it/...kin/tongue.gif" class="bbc_emoticon" alt=":P">

The difference of course being .png vs ,gif.

So it's not a browser issue, it's an issue with how the board software parses smileys. Probably not a tough fix.

Bah... This is why I wish everyone wasn't forced into using the Rich Text Editor in order to use these nice post toolbar buttons.  I really preferred BBCode and post previews myself.  It helped quite a lot to be able to define the post entirely under the hood and post it perfectly the first time. <_<

Uhm... I'm sorry, but this one's not his fault.  More than likely, it's also well beyond his control.  (Although I don't know if there's some kind of hotfix that he can slap in or not...)  If you wish to really have it fixed permanently, you're going to have to go bother Invision Power Services about the matter.  Heck, maybe you can get them to fix the whole thing about "BBCode vs. Rich Text Editing"?

Pretty sure the server admin with the source code for the forums would be able to figure out the problem. Why don't we wait for him to say whether he can fix it or not?

I think I silently implied that with my previous post? :?

Peter can probably look into this at some point, but right now we're in a new apartment that doesn't have broadband set up yet so all we have is shit internet from our mobile wifi hotspots XD  So sit tight and hopefully once we have a good internet connection he can look into it.

I'll sit tight and cool and see what happens as well. :shades:

On other notes... Tripsis and Peter in the same apartment?  I thought you two were tons of miles apart IRL! ... Can I jokingly crack a "Tripsis and Peter sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g"? :P ... Anyway, congrats on the move!

It's fixed, I think this bug has been around since we converted.  Not IPB's fault as it's physically impossible to reproduce the problem without doing some DB changes so I expect it happened during conversion.  I could explain what happened but I don't really think it's worth bothering. :P Anyway, if you resave any posts it's happened in, they should get sorted, and any future posts should be fine.

Nice!

I'm posting this from my iPhone as a test. :P

Edit: looks like it's working fine. :)

So, Kaida is the real version of every fictional science-badass? That explains a lot, actually...
