The whole can't multilog your EoCscape character and your 2007scape character thing has worked out pretty well for Jagex. Intentionally or not, now people who want to play both at the same time have to buy membership for EoCscape on a brand new acc as well.

It is not intentional... I have no idea why people ever thought you would be able to.

Runescape and Combat beta - nope
Runescape and RSC - nope
Runescape and funorb - nope
Runescape and realms - nope (I think)

But for some reason runescape and 07scape might be different...

I am really looking forward to the reopening :), will be making guides and stuff when I work out the most efficient things to do.

And at least my 2 years membership I bought ages ago is going to have a use lol.

Yeah its a pretty basic barrier put in place to avoid un-necessary corruption/complications.
Logging into any of the games a portion of your account data gets moved from storage to the live game and sent back once you log out. (Hence things like hiscores update after you log)
Allowing multiple games to access the account at once causes issues in some much as conflicting data being sent back and data availability eg what if you are online on two games and both took 100 as your total play time then you log off one and it sends 108 back, then you log off the other and it sends 102 back - it's going to get confused as it shouldn't be a lower value.
Not to mention the pm chat system runs on a separate server for the game to allow inter-game communication - you can't be logged on to that twice with the same account.

Why anyone had any hope at all of 07scape not conforming to this same basic rule is beyond me.

Not going to try and tell people how to play, but a magic pure is a terrible idea to go first into.

It will be an incredibly popular choice, its known as a quick way of training that doesn't require crowded spots like rock crabs.
BUT, think it through, where will you get the runes from? I guess you could mine then make your own, but that will be really really slow. Runes are going to be really expensive for a long time.

I'm pretty sure everyone i pkd with as a lowhp mage just bought runes from aubury's.... you only really needed about 30-40 for a pk trip and some binds if you're going deep or teaming.
There were sources for things prior to the GE lol and player price will obviously be higher than store price, but you can still get a decent amount from them,

I'm thinking about maybe going for 45 Def and staying there (Would allow me to use Rune, Mystic and Green d'hide + the fremmy helmets, good enough. Higher level equipment will be too expensive/annoying to obtain for them to be worth it.)

Jagex, an honest company? Believe me no one thought so before the poll.

Apparently, you did.

Why not go the 1 def 60atk hybrid route. robes are cheap and disposable and I can see rune will be VERY expensive for a long time...

Also, on an unrelated note, were unids turned into grimy herbs at that point?

45 def would be viable seeing as all the armours you'd need would be in stock at shops unlike dragon/barrows armour and probably 60 att for dragon until slayer weapons such as g maul/whip become commonplace.
sure herbs were still unids in august 07, can't be 100% though

Grimy herbs were already released as of August 2007.
[Edit:] My bad - looks like September 2007 they were released.

Can't wait for tomorrow! I'm going to try to go nuts on the quests.

I imagine if they make updates, the "convenience" updates such as grimy herbs and the run-backwards bug would be their first priorities.

Noo! I loved making money by selling low level unids for 1k each and then identifying the good ones like ranarr.
Also I don't remember if the run-backards glitch was around then. I know it was there mid 2008 when I was barraging for charms at Rock Lobsters. It nearly killed me a bunch of times.

Proud owner of the following skillcapes: Defence, Hitpoints, Strength, Attack, Magic, Summoning, Ranged, Slayer, Prayer and Herblore.
I drift in and out, trying some update that interests me.

Having 07scape updated would not be the 07scape that everyone wanted, take it as how it is and it shouldn't be updated imo.

A lot of people seem to be confusing 07scape with 02scape or something :P.
It won't be long until rune is available by the bucket. Lets look at rune plates
I give it maybe 10-24 hours before people have the first few rune plates, it will take a little while for people to get 32 QP and do the champions quest, but then people will start buying them from the shops at high prices to start off with. Once people have that, then you have the fact that those platebodies are very rarely going to leave the game for a long time, people keep buying them, and if they are lost pking, they are just picked up and sold.
Now where will this GP to buy the items come from? Well aside from the mass 10ks from stronghold :P, people will be starting to wc/fletch/rc/mine like crazy, nature runes and yew longbows will start moving around, creating loads of GP very quickly. This all takes time, but I can imagine a lot of no lifing going on >.>, and once a few people have started everything gets quicker. An extra thing I thought of that might slow it down ( and will massively effect how quick the games economy settles), is people overcharging for their stuff they make, IE selling natures 1K, making them only viable for say pking, rather than alching with, same goes for yew longbows, people selling them really highly priced.
I can see the first group of people to successfully start off a rcing/wcing/fletching/alching chain, becoming the most successful (aside from the dicers, who will just be paying real game bils out for the first dragon gear for example... I know someone who is getting ready to offer phats for the first dragon chainbody).
But that is beside the point about rune really, my prediction is:
If people are selfish and not that much no lifing goes on: 2 weeks before rune is readily available at pretty cheap prices
If people work together and no life like mad: Could be 1 week before rune is available to every non noob who can skill for an hour efficiently.

And as for why a pure is a terrible idea:
Zamorak and other god books: lawl have fun with that.
Dragon weapons: You are going to do monkey madness and other quests with a low prayer level? Bones are going to be really hard to get your hands on.
Magic/Range: Magic and range training is going to be brutal, no mass arrows/runes to cast cheap spells with, its going to be lots of part or full DIY.
pking: No one will have gear worth pking... And they will not want to risk their rune vs your robes.
Potions are going to be REALLY expensive for even longer than rune will be rare, herblore is slow and difficult to train, and there are few other sources of potions into the game. This means no super str/att pking for you.
Training: Every Pure training spot will be packed to oblivion, can see like 20+ people at rock crabs constantly.

Just my opinions/predictions

Also, I really do not want grimy herbs, and I think a lot of people would agree with me, to me unids are almost as important as bank sales and no ge.
Check it out, huge amount of effort has gone into this massive mod!

Lost City at a low Prayer level? Why not?

Not that hard I guess, but Monkey madness? With low stats as well.
Also getting enough runes to kill the tree might be a bit boring, a lot of wind strikes needed. But I agree lost city would be the easiest to do.

Another thought, enchanted jewelry will be difficult to get, high crafting+magic levels needed.
I have an idea if anyone is interested and will make a video on it later, going to be forming a "clan" based around working together for the quickest access to the best stuff (people focus on specific areas, then for example cut those logs into yew bows for a reasonable price relative to how much profit will be made from selling to the next person who will alch them for about the same profit as well). Might be a stupid idea but I am sure some fun can be had :P.

Monkey madness isn't that bad. I did it at like 30-something combat w/o prayer when this account was a pure. Just need lots of food and energy for tunnels.

^ Could always buy chaos runes and air runes from Aubury (does he even sell chaos runes though? Otherwise wind strike instead of bolt, I guess.)

Because they wanted rs exactly like it was back in 2007, and that's what they're getting.
If they want another update, keep with the main game that does get updates.

Things taken for granted like black d'hide gear will take a while to obtain. No glories till 80 crafting, no furies till 90. Might be a wise idea to invest in crafting. Smithing's still gonna be useless lol

Was about to say dragonfire shields but nope, can pay someone to attach it lol.
Yeah smithing is going to be as useless as ever.

Also, I can't remember, but when did updates like autocasting with a staff, and 10% damage bonuses on staffs happen?

Ranged will be a pain in the ass to train-- you'll be stuck using crappy armor for a while. No treasure trail gear; no high-level dragonhide for a while.

Melee will be easy as always to train.

Mage armor will be easy to buy from shops eventually. Runes will probably be very expensive, so hard to train.

Runecrafting will always be very profitable probably. No blood crafting. No steady supply of bloods/souls till people can access the wizards guild.

Agility's going to suck. Run energy and weight will be relevant again.

Thieving's useless.

Herblore might be profitable. No need to train it too high, though. No bosses really required brews back then. I only used brews for Fight Caves.

Prayer stops at 43/52/70. Not too hard w/ ectofunctus and dragon bones. You could DIY w/o too much work.

Hunter's gonna be more "end-game" for when people can afford to buy mass chins. Gonna be competitive as hell probably. Dragon darts/arrows at 83 hunter, but dragon arrows will be useless until 90+ slayers can farm dark bows.

Firemaking will be COMPLETELY useless (no hand cannon, no adze) except for quest requirements such as Desert Treasure.

Fishing/cooking/woodcutting/fletching will be great for everyone. TBH I think training those skills might actually be "fun" since it could actually be social, as opposed to 100% botted.

Crafting will be very in-demand.

Mining, not really sure. All metal armor/weapons are obtainable via shops or monster drops. Don't need to smith any gear. Would probably be stuck mining gold or something. Probably best to stick with iron, since those are needed for steel bars, which are needed for cannonballs, which are needed for slayer.

Smithing, cannonballs would be good money. Efficient? Not sure. Smithing stuff like metal knives for rangers would probably be your best bet at higher levels.

First to hit 85 slayer will have enough money for maxing out lol. Anyone remember S1acker's bank pic back in 2005? :D Slayer will suck until you can get a black mask. Cannons will probably be off-limits for a while. No Sumona, no Kuradal. Dark bows at 90 slayer, but those aren't as generalized as whips. Plus they require dragon arrows at 83 hunter to use.

Farming will be handy as always.

Construction might be worthwhile to train if you could "lease" your house for people to train prayer or use your portals for barrows and stuff.
