Special Weapon Attack Ability

ACK

Recommended Posts

Since i am at work, i can't access to the official rs forum, but i still want your thoughts guys...

of.. [ Special Weapon Attack Ability ]

just like [ 99 Cape emote ] when ever wear a cape of a skill, you can do the weapon.. how about that but for the weapons...

i like the action in Runescape and EoC, that would be fun and enjoyable =]

also better than to kill some weapons such as Vine Whip, daggers, and other cool weapons

so.. your thoughts ???

Could you please elaborate? It is pretty vague what your point is...

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be?~ Marianne Williamson

Yeah, he's talking about bringing back the special attack of weapons, but instead of special bar you use an ability on your ability bar to execute it.

Or something like that.

I don't know what to think of it. We already have abilities, adding special attacks again... I don't know.

Although some weapons are useless now that were only used for their special attack. Like Granite Maul for example.

I think he is talking abt having the previous special attks of weapons brought back as something like skillcape emotes. I might b wrong at interpreting his post. smile.png

Yes, every weapon uses their own Special Attack but uses Adrenaline

also i am still waiting for Level-up-my-x add-on, that would make the weapons even more powerful. you think they will make the monsters stronger when they release this update ?

Or maybe something that doesn't use adrenaline, but has a cooldown, we really need some abilities like that.

It seems like it would simply imbalance a system that's already dealing with some pretty fair imbalance issues.

Not to mention you would have to deal with the complaints from the player base as they all sell off their SGS for 5m in comparison to the 20 they bought it for, to quickly go and buy an AGS for 20-30m because it'll have the superior spec.

I'd prefer not to see an update that would flip flop items that hard at the moment, as the economy is still trying to stabilize and flip flopping a couple of items like that would just throw it out of whack again.

Though if you could avoid those two issues, or at least minimize the effect it would have on these two issues, it seems like a pretty fair idea. The only remaining question is, would it be a threshold skill or an ultimate? In both cases I have to question its usefulness a little bit.

Now if it were to be simply cool down based, that would leave the question of would the cool down differ? Because obviously a Dragon Dagger should spec more often than dragon claws, but do roughly equivalent damage.

That leaves a lot to be balanced frankly :l.

We already have them, they are called basic abilities.

Would make redundant the entire concept of EoC, by having certain weapons in each tier more powerful than other weapons of that same tier. If it's only an emote you're talking about, then that's a separate matter.

The way I understand the EoC changes is this: Abilities replaced special attacks, and made them broadly available to all weapons, be they melee, ranged, or maged based. This was pretty streamlined, because the mechanics are the same for each combat type-- magic, in fact, was changed so that damage is figured out the same way as Melee and Ranged (if I understand

right). Lemme back up, put it another way: abilities are structured in a similar way for Melee, Ranged, and Magic-- some damage over time, some multiattack, some chain attack... you get the idea. Defense and Hitpoints got more relevance with their own abilities too, but as they are basically shared to all the combat triangle, it evens out, at least in theory.

Although some weapons are useless now that were only used for their special attack. Like Granite Maul for example.

I was never interested in KO weapons, because I don't really do PvP, and I think more of PvM benefits. The vine upgrade to the abyssal whip comes first to my mind. If you'll allow me to put aside the issue of melee bias in the game, I'd say I rather liked the Call Vine SA, because it was somewhat close to area effect damage for a melee weapon. (Not to mention it was a WHOLE lot more useful than the abyssal whip's base SA.) Then again, poison was a significant factor, too... and that's a whole different issue I won't get into here save I don't like Jagex's "be like Thok now" approach to poison post-EoC.

But speaking of whips, yeah, healing weapons have been severely compromised with "passive abilities", and, to wit, Excalibur became the modified off-hand compliment to the abyssal (vine) whip-- I think supposedly because the devs haven't figured out how to animated an off-hand whip. (I think they should simply modify the whip to be 2-handed... much easier, I think, but, again, another discussion.)

Don't get me wrong, I thought it'd be nice for some mechanics like those special attacks to return. I thought of similar ideas myself. The niche uses aren't really covered by current abilities. But I have no idea either how it'd be done and not imbalance things more than they are already (or at least without making things much more complicated).

Hmm still not sure wat that lvl uo my x thingy means :s

He means that you'd be able to gain xp on your weapons and then level them up, giving them increased stats.

I'm not very fond of that idea myself.

Well... I support the idea, and I'll tell you why. I've got chronic pain issues IRL, so much of the time, bossing just really isn't my idea of a good time, and I tend to be a grouchy middle-aged man that doesn't like to play with others more than a few individuals or a small group. I'm a so-called "Soloscaper", y'know? The weapons that Jagex thinks are appropriate to my level require some sort of bossing or grinding that I can't sit still through long enough without more painkillers. Even chaotic weapons at Daemonheim are a stretched-out, far-off goal. I dusted off my spent crystals and recharged them back to bows, and they are my go-to Ranged weap because I just can't reach crossbows higher than rune or a Zaryte.

So darned right I'm going to want to make what I've got a little more useful. I'll gladly sink some raw mats into it if I have to, I'm already grinding out Ports over many days just to get some decent armour.

The first person that replies "shut up u noob bossing and Dunge is easy" is gonna get a nice photo of the two scars on my back where they cut me open and did surgery to fuse a few bones. Don't think I won't... but I don't think you wanna see it, because it's only inches above the CRACK that kills, get me? I've been faithfully paying my membership since 2004 or so and have sunk a little bit into some Solomon's stuff, so I think I'm reasonably entitled to ask Jagex for some stuff that's a little more to my liking. The young adults want a more mature Runescape, they'll have to consider a few wants of the older players, too. *cough* But I digress...
