Revised Notice - Beta NDA Lifted

Recommended Posts

Revised Notice

I am pleased to say that Jagex has lifted the NDA, though they are requesting that people hold off with the pictures and videos until the client has been further developed, to give a better demonstration of the future of RuneScape. Now that the NDA has been lifted, it will be left to our users discretion if they wish to post information about the beta.

Happy Posting!

beta testers are under the nda. Regular players not beta testing should be allowed to discuss/post/report the beta, no?

Correct. However, the caveat is that since tip.it has no way of knowing for sure who is, and is not, part of the beta, any information protected under the NDA will be subject to enforcement, such as leaked pictures people happen across and what not. This is the only way we can reasonably hope to enforce the NDA, and is the same approach the forum moderators of the RSOF are taking. It also prevents someone who might say, leak a picture to their friends on facebook winding up in trouble with Jagex if one of their friends takes that picture and posts it here where Jagex sees it.

Also, as a heads up, Jagex seem to be pretty keen to enforce this. I already know of at least one account that has been banned after the owner was caught livestreaming the beta. I expect Jagex will be keeping up with this, going after users who livestream or post videos after the fact, and I fully expect them to watch the fansite forums for similar breeches.

I can't even get in so no worries with me breaching any NDA :)

LOL... The same could probably be said for many of us.

@@Randox -- Uhm, where's the image you were trying to show?

Not sure how I missed that. The image is in now, for all it matters

It matters, as it shows that an actual member of Jagex's own RuneScape Staff said it... I guess about the only thing that could be asked for now is which JMod said it? :D

I believe that's Mod Chris E, but I could be wrong. The NDA was removed from Mod Sevens post in any event. I never saved a copy though, and I did take a peak, but I couldn't find the thread.

Well I logged into the beta on the first day but never had to sign any NDA documents.

Does anyone have it saved? Kinda curious how a Jagex's NDA would look like.

(Don't worry about me breaking it though, it barely runs on 1 fps for me, sticking with java)

Sure, I still have it. It was never anything anyone had to sign, it was part of the beta agreement they posted and was promptly removed from said agreement, I suppose once they decided the bad press it was generating was worse than people seeing the BETA before it was really properly functional. But remember this has already long since been revoked, so it can't be broken now anyway.
