Yay minigames! Oh wait...

Current state of RS minigames that force a minimum player count:

 

Barbarian Assault - dead (pre-EoC you could still sometimes manage a game on wave 1 on a certain time of a day)

Blast Furnace (possible to solo) - dead & pointless

Castle Wars - dying, but it was always the popular one, not to mention comp reqs

Clan Wars - rarely used, but this has more to do with warring clans leaving/transferring

Conquest - dead

Crucible - dead

Duel Arena - last stages of dying; always empty on all except a single world, in which player count depends on time of day

Duel Tournament - dead; was never active

Fight Pits - dead

Fist of Guthix - dead

Games Room - dead; was never active

Great Orb Project - dead; in F2P at certain time of day you might manage to get a game or a few though

Lava Flow Mien - coordinated through a fc; barely active since warbands

Mobilizing Armies - dead; you can only play in 2 worlds and they are always empty

Pest Control - somewhat active; will probably die completely after an upcoming void nerf

Runespan - active; nearly everyone is a bot, but definitely active

Shades of Mort'ton - barely active

Soul Wars - somewhat active (nostalgic sw clans mostly)

Stealing Creation - somewhat active (mostly in dedicated FCs)

Trawler Fishing (possible to solo) - dead

Trouble Brewing - dead; was never active

 

Good luck getting into them.

All Jagex needs to do to revive GOP is to remove the activity bar, and provide a tutorial. The round segment timer is already enough anyway! Beyond that, maybe add more teams for simultaneous competition. Like, could you imagine Red and Blue, mixed with the already present Green and Yellow? Perhaps even have balancing limits of two or three per team during multi-team games, as opposed to five or six per team like now? :twisted:

Mind explaining what the acronyms mean? I get some of them, but not all.

 

Also, just because a mini-game ins only playable on one world doesn't make it dead. Plenty of mini games are "dead" except for one crowded world.

Squab unleashes Megiddo! Completed all quests and hard diaries. 75+ Skiller. (At one point.) 2000+ total. 99 Magic.

The only thing wrong with it is the lack of a percentage for when you need to stroke it.

Soul Wars has always got games of 60+ people going. Not in all worlds, of course.

There are a couple of big SW clans left and I know they are very competitive.

I've always enjoyed mini-games and it's honestly really depressing seeing this. I have 2 of each hybrid set, guess I won't get much use out of those anymore.

Sinkholes come to mind when reading this, despite it not being a minigame. Very much alive, but only on 1 world. and personally I find that a good thing, as if friend just wanna compete with each other, a group of 5 can get together on w99 and play 2 games. PC is another one. It works out that PC is only one 1 world because a clan can easily take a world for themselves.

I agree with this. My clan would often to go a private world for Fish Flingers because we found it much more enjoyable and interactive than just using W89.

Admitting, some minigames are really dead. FoG is such a good pvp game that due to how exp is calculated now, won't come back (cheap/free mage exp). Sucks because some of those rewards are nice too. Clan Wars was also a fun "wild" without the wild. But I only remember it so in F2P.

It looks like Jagex would prefer to implement more/fix D&D's than minigames now. Went to BA awhile ago to fill my horn and there was one team in the whole place, thankfully I got in it.

In all honestly, I rather for some (or most) of these that can't even keep going on 1 world or with fcs/teams they scrap and add the rewards to other minigames, D&D, etc. The swordfish/shark gloves from FoG and Trawler Fishing rewards should be added to Fish Flingers. The herblore gloves from FoG should be added to Herblore Habitat/Jadinko Lair or Flash Powder Factory. At this point taking FoG as an example

 

Dragon Slayer Gloves and D'hide coifs = Slayer Master Slayer points reward

Gauntlets and shield = Artisan's Workshop

Mage Robes and Runecrafting gloves = Runespan reward shop

 

The entire rewards from GoP should move to Runespan. But this is just a few examples...

Players who don't have 70 def yet do.

Players who haven't reached the defence level required to use the next tier of dragonhide armour would use the coif of their level.

(Also, the players who use Royal because they can't afford the price of Karil's.)

Why not just have the dragonhide coives player-craftable?

 

I don't mind them being craft-able items. What I gave was just examples. My point was that some of these games aren't worth what they used to be, and instead of trying to breathe life into them (or adding even ore minigames to make up for these dead ones) they should be removed from the game and rewards be placed elsewhere.

those minigames should be removed from the game and rewards be placed elsewhere.

 

In fact, that is a good idea. Anything JaGeX can come up with (aside from large xp/gp per hour ratios) will revive content for max 2 weeks, after which it will be nerfed and the minigame will be more dead than it was before (if it was not completely dead yet, like Games Room, for example).

The best solution would be to get a new influx of players into rs.. THat will bring new players who want to get -say- max ba rating.

and I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews

 

Then they came for the ores

and I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores

 

Then they came for me

and there was no one left to speak out for me.

New players will find BA deserted. Honestly, nobody ever goes there. Granite body? Penance gloves/other stuff? All worthless; the random rewards are also a waste of time better put elsewhere.

After trying a few times, they will not be back either.

Yup. With all the penance gear becoming 100% useless in Eoc it's nearly impossible to start a game. Players filling horns tend to play on private worlds.

If you give them good rewards, they'll die again eventually (see: penance horn), and then players who want that reward will be screwed. Just let them be dead.
