To be or not to be: that is the question

Okay, here is my dilemma:

Currently, I am a level 4 skiller, with the following stats..

Now, I am trying to figure out if I should stick to being a level 4 skiller, or train combat. I do miss combat, a little.. but at the same time I do have another account that is level 120 or so. Of course, it's not P2P.

Should I stay a level 4 skiller or should I train some combat? Maybe list some pros & cons of each..?

I'm a skiller myself, you're best staying a skiller till you get very high stats.

Pros of staying a skiller, warbands are really easy. = 99 herblore = overloads for combat.

I am thinking of getting combat in the future also.

Maybe you don't, but others do. To be able to achieve 99 in all skills non-combat without using combat as a way of getting money makes it more challenging. It's less likely for a skiller to buy 99 cooking, firemaking, herblore, fletching, crafting, & smithing.

Plus, it's not necessarily limiting your gameplay. You can train combat at a later date if you want.

Anyway, I've figured out what to do - stay a skiller until I have quite a few 99's.

If you want to have a challenge similar to being a skiller, but with a little combat on the side, you can try being a summoning pure - training only defence, constitution, prayer and summoning.

I'm not sure why you would want to limit your gameplay by being a skiller. No one really considers it an achievement.

Well back in the good old days when the community wasn't complete [bleep], if you were a skiller with capes and you made your own money by merchanting etc, you were pretty [bleep]ing cool. But in today's RS, things such as the farming cape, herblore cape, prayer, slayer, etc, aren't as highly regarded.

Sure, I guess when tectonic gear dropped it was really hard to get and if you saw it you were like woooaaahhhhhh but after a couple weeks the hype dies down.

tl;dr - community has changed from a few years ago; accomplishments such as hard 99's etc are not highly regarded. No one cares how big your cash stack is. No one cares what equipment you have.

as a side note, what I think REALLY killed the community was botting and gold farming... While this can be debated it definitely led the downfall of hard work; all the people that wanted to work hard to complete goals no longer had a reason to play. Why, say, grind for 100 hours to make 10m gp when someone could just go to a website and buy 10m gp in xx minutes? I hope my headache isn't keeping my thoughts from being expressed clearly. Just my .02c.

I don't condone buying rsgp I was just using it as an argument.

I'd like to hear anyone's counter argument if any through a private message because it'll probably be OT in this thread.

I like this. Go back to your other account if you want to do combat. While skilling isn't quite as fun, I've found that playing with friends from school, work, or afk'ing makes it more bearable if you start to burn out :)

I'm always looking for people to talk to, feel free to add me. My private is on "friends" though, so just message me on here first.

Quite the goal you've set him Quyneax :)

Tack on a few hundred (or a thousand, I can't remember) hours of soul wars to get 99 slayer and you're one sick summoning pure skiller :D
