Fate of the Gods

Zaros returns in RuneScape's latest Grandmaster quest, with lore galore, otherworldly excursions, fierce combat, rewards to earn, and secrets to uncover.

Speak to Azzanadra, south of the Eagles' Peak lodestone, and you'll embark on a cross-world odyssey to Freneskae - birthplace of the Mahjarrat.

Freneskae_thumb.jpg

There, you'll uncover the entire history of Zaros - one of RuneScape's most powerful and enigmatic entities - from his birth right up until the present day. You'll find answers to some of the biggest questions in RuneScape's history, battle powerful foes and explore a perilous, alien landscape.

Also, the decisions you make during the quest will directly affect Zaros's fate. Will you help him to return, or seek to hinder him?

Fate of the Gods is a real treat for seasoned lore fans. Skill requirements are high, and there's a bundle of recommended quests, which will grant you additional rewards as well as giving further context to the quest's events.

It's fully voice-acted too, so be sure to turn up your speakers or plug in your headphones when you play.

Your reward will be swathes of XP in Magic, Divination, Slayer, Agility and Summoning, plus permanent access to Freneskae, where you'll find high-level combat and extra content after the quest is complete. There are additional XP lamps, a new teleport and two new cosmetic overrides to earn for completing the recommended quests and finding everything hidden in Freneskae.

The Empty Lord returns. Decide where you stand, because Gielinor will never be the same!

Chaos gauntlets don't really make sense anymore anyway, since bolt spells don't even require Chaos runes anymore.

They were great in pre-EoC when you actually required runes for every cast, since you could wear those gauntlets and get just a little lower max hit, but at a much lower cost.

But now that Blast spells only cost like ~100gp more in runes (and virtually no extra gp cost because lol abilities), coupled with the fact that being able to get Chaos gauntlets automatically means you can use Fire blast, as long as Chaos gauntlets only affect bolt spells they'll still be useless. Don't really see why they even bothered making such a change tbh.

The only way in which they could be useful is to make them increase the damage for any spell (making magic even more OP than it already is compared to ranged/melee) or maybe make it so bolt spells deal more damage than Surge spells on Lv. 80/90 weapons, making them OP as well.

Postquest stuff, mostly complete for now

[hide]Memorial crystal z3 is where Mah once slept

Seren's crystals are in a small arena in the middle of Freneskae. You need to tag the crystal pillars as they light up to unlock the crystals. 80 tags in a row will unlock all four crystals - if you die at any point whilst doing this, you will have to tag them all over again.

Using crystals z1-12 gives you access to the Zaros Helm cosmetic override

Using crystals s1-4 gives you access to the Seren Crest cosmetic override

Seren's memories recount the reasons for the Rituals of Rejuvenation and Enervation. The naming of the Ritual of Rejuvenation is very, very clever.

Beating all 4 Nihil at the same time gives you access to the Annihilator title

Talking to the Guthixian High Druid in the Shrine of Guthix adds a World-Gate teleport to your circuit

Talking to Ali the Wise rewards you with a large prismatic lamp

Talking to Azzanadra rewards you with a lamp that grants 75k xp three times in combat skills

You can kill Muspah where Mah once slept. Some drops include:

40 soul runes, 20 death runes, rune platelegs, 10 dragon arrowtips, 30 dragon bolt tips, rune full helm, 2 sharks

Muspah take double damage from Ancient spells[/hide]

Got all of the memoriam crystals. Anyone have a strat for the 4 nihils for comp?

[hide]It appears Zaros has an innate ability to control others through devotion, whereas Seren has an innate ability to inspire adoration

Additionally, it looks like the Elder Hall on Freneskae contains hints as to the nature of the remaining 2 Elder gods. There exists a light brown sandy corner, and a fiery lava corner, embodying Jas and Ful. The remaining two are an earthy nature corner and a frigid ice corner.[/hide]

This is not a quest spoiler, but it's a somewhat hidden part of the quest, so I'll put it in spoilers anyway:

If you talk to the Guthixian High Druid (not sure if right after finding the World Gate or only after the quest, I found it after the quest myself, would've been REALLY useful during it...) at the Guthixian Shrine (where Sixt-Age Circuit from The World Wakes teleports you), he adds an option of teleport to the World Gate to the Circuit...

Oh, did not notice it was already in Saradomin_Mage's post, got distracted by the picture and didn't read any further ^^

Shard of Zaros... I can strongly accept that.

Is it a pocket-slot item?

 At last...

But to what extent?

Chaos gauntlets, too, were buffed with this update's patch notes, but they're still useless.

[hide]It goes in the pocket slot. Makes all armies in the GWD, including the Zaros army, as well as the Muspah unaggressive.[/hide]
