the corner snagging is part of the avoidance strategy with the risk that flames or more gorillas are going to notice you. the main risk of running is fire, so as a gorilla it's more useful to force players to choose a shitty path with cauldrons and fire and walls than the straight runs (perhaps on the ends also), so punish them by camping in the straight runs and force them to go towards the middle, or ride their asses and hope that they blew their stun early (if they're scrubs that use stun)

My thing is there really isn't a need for tactics if you're a human. You're simply clicking anywhere you want and gorillas easily get trapped because of how the pathfinding is in combination with your size. There's no need for a human to try to stay on the outer edges so the gorrilas constantly dip into the gaps as they pathfind to you and therefore fall behind. You can literally click like a madman and generally evade any gorrilla, at most only taking a few hundred bit of damage which is easily recovered by attacking Monkey Minions. 90% of lethal damage dealt is by environment which not only means that people have massive survivability but you also lose out on potential points for the gorrilla group. And because as you and GVT have pointed out that there's no penalty if you die early, it's actually better for your points per hour to simply log out and lose say 30ish points to gain 8min+ for another game (which thanks to instances are running 24/7).

Being a gorrilla is supposed to be a disadvantage in itself to reward surviving, but as is half of the game is never played because it's just...pointless. Which is a real shame because it CAN be fun sometimes to play as the gorrilla team. (like when you have 2-4 people versus 5+ humans) Sadly this almost never happens.

the point of being a gorilla in the minigame is just to end the game faster so you don't have to be a gorilla

if they wanted people to actively participate in gorilla tactics (besides those sort of boring abilities), they would increase the point rewards for traps and takedowns
