jasignhagj
My terrible microsoft wireless keyboard is acting up, so I'd like to get a new keyboard. Any suggestions? I'd like to spend less than $80CAD. I don't have any strong preferences, just want something that is wired, preferable PS/2 so I can use it in the BIOS, at least 6KRO (will register at least 6 concurrent keypresses, this one won't let me move diagonally while holding shift for example) and a normal enter key (can't stand those huge enter key/tiny backspace keyboards). I'm not opposed to a mechanical keyboard as long as the keys aren't too hard to press.
Sy_Accursed
Good luck finding anything decent with PS/2 - that type of port is pretty much defunct, the vast majority of mobos haven't included them for many many years now and apart from highly specialised/unique/quirky keyboards USB ones work just find with BIOS, as long as they are in a usb port on the mobo and not an extension. jasignhagj
A lot of the keyboards I've been looking at seem to have ps/2 options. Maybe it's because it's wireless, but my current keyboard doesn't work in the BIOS regardless of port.
Sbrideau
I think they still include PS/2 to USB adapters in the keyboard box, but it's been years that motherboards accept usb keboards in the BIOS. If you want a gaming keyboard, this one looks good:http://www.ncix.com/detail/logitech-g105-6-programmable-g-key-34-82199-1359.htm Or if you want to go for cheaper: http://www.ncix.com/detail/logitech-k120-keyboard-usb-fe-54063-1359.htmThis is the keyboard that we give people at work, pretty good quality for the price. jasignhagj
Thanks for the suggestions. I was considering the logitech but I decided to break my budget and went with a CoolerMaster QuickFire Ultimate. Should be here in a week, I'll post a little review once I get it. Albel
Just skimming through the topic...I can suggest the keyboard I have is the BEST I have ever used. Coolermaster makes a awesome mechanical keyboard. Mine doesn't have the number pad on the side (to save so cash) but the feel of the keys is amazing. Awesome for gaming and typing...the one I use is the best of both worlds. The one I use has red cherry MX switches. There is a good video on youtube I can link here that explains a lot of the types of mechanical switches that can help. (Keyboard I got)http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0068INSUM/ref=oh_details_o09_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I do not know if this is what you are looking for...BUT if you do want a mechanical keyboard this brand is a good place to start. Celt23
IBM Model M! Not only are they great to type on, but they're something you'll be able to give to your grandchildren.
Sbrideau
Mechanical keyboards are definitely better. I myself am going to buy a Metadot DasKeyboard 4 Ultimate soon. I like the fact that it doesn't have the letters and stuff on the buttons, but I've been looking at them for a while.
