Easy way to update drivers?

My laptop has not been connected to the internet for 3 years, I think it's been...  Needless to day it is a bit out of date.  Is there an easy way to update the drivers that are no doubt outdated?

 

I have tried google, searching for drivers for my model of laptop, but it leads me in circles, then always ends with wanting credit card information...

I'm not too sure about drivers (particularly since you didn't mention more specifics about which computer you have), but it I think the first priority would be to update or get antivirus and firewall first.  Or do you already have that covered?  Sometimes under settings it can search automatically for new drivers, but I take it you've tried that.

It is a Dell Latitude D830 with Windows XP.

 

I did update my antivirus and firewall and all that right away.  :)

You never want to go somewhere else than the manufacturer's website for drivers.

 

Or you can use their update utility which is on the same page, under System Utilities, but from experience (at work it's all dells) it's faster to just download or use your laptop's service tag to get the exact drivers you need on that page and download them then install them.

 

I was on the canadian webpage though, but the drivers should still be valid since it's the same model in both countries. They probably don't have new drivers, as they don't update them for very old laptops (and yes we still have some at work of those, but they're used as a last resort when there are no other laptops available).

I don't know why I can never find that stuff when I look..I checked the Dell website...  Anyway, thanks, that worked.
