A suggestion to change to how the pin system works.

Now what I'm about to say is probably not beneficial at all to people who just play the game RuneScape and don't make videos.

 

However, for someone like me who occasionally does make YouTube videos about what I do in RuneScape this really could help.

 

Now there is no way to go to the bank and click the pin codes without people seeing it. And because of that I usually have to cut out the parts where I use my pin code.

 

It shouldn't be that way, in fact I should be able to use my keyboard to type the pin code in.

 

That way there is no need to cut from my videos when I type down my pin code when opening my bank.

Forcing you to enter it in by mouse is actually done for your own protection.  Simply put, it's more difficult for someone to keylog you and try to get snapshots of your exact screen as you enter the digits than it is to capture keystrokes.  If you could just type in your PIN, it's not really more secure than just having a second password.

 

I do agree it gets annoying after a while, but if you're taking videos, you can log in, enter your PIN before you start filming, and then you should be good for a while - six hours, in fact, before it will kick you :P.

 

P.S. as an extra tip, you can right click your money pouch and attempt to withdraw 1 coin.  You will be asked to enter your PIN.  By doing so you will not be prompted for it for the rest of the session, if you want to log in somewhere and start right away :).  You can just add the 1 coin back to the pouch afterward too.

^ To summarize if the PIN could be typed it wouldn't offer any more security than your password does. Which was / is its intent. So no.

Personally ever since the authenticator I've found the PIN to be obsolete, so I just removed it.

But yeah, as said, your suggestion defeats the purpose of the PIN.

I apologize for my ignorance, I didn't know that doing that makes it less secure.

 

But hey I can easily just cut when I enter the pin code out of my videos, that's no problem. In fact if I enter the pin codes before start recording, that would be even better.

Just be sure you have something like the authenticator for your email as wel, as they could just keylog your email and reset the authenticator from there ;) But yeah I agree, I haven't used a pin since I use the authenticator.
