Magic/Melee Gear

As I near the end of my road to max (17 lvls left 11 of them dg) I am looking to get back into slayer as I want to get 120 in my combats and Slayer (maybe 200mil eventually).  I also want to get into bossing more because outside 3 weeks of no lifind godwards about 5 years ago I havent done much since.  I've currently got about 270mil to play with as far as cash goes and I have full Subj, Arma and Bandos.  I had duel Drygore rapiers but sold them off for now thinking they may tank over that boss weekend and I wont need them till the new year.  Magic I am currently using a chaotic staff.  There is so much new content equipment wise and every where I look everyones got different ideas of what is the best set up.   So what do you all think?

Also as far as bossing goes is there maybe an order someone can suggest to work through to get used to bossing?  Like starting with say bandos then working my way up to get used to it?

Some of the best gear comes from pop (player owned ports). Tough ports armour has no damage bonus. Tetsu, seasinger, and death lotus, here's a link to ports guide and you can look up the armour from there, http://www.tip.it/runescape/pages/view/pop.htm. The next sets I would suggest to use is from Nex, you can go to http://www.tip.it/runescape/bestiary/view/1576-nex to view all the gear from Nex. These sets are Torva, Pernix, and Virtus. The armors from Nex all have damage bonuses, which do help, they each also have a pair of boots and gloves to complete the set. The ports sets do not have boots or gloves, only head, top, and bottom. Overall, ports takes some time to get, and gear from Nex is costly, but all of these armour sets do degrade.  Hope this helps you out a bit.

True, subjugation and armadyl and bandos are still good armour and do not degrade.

And which bosses would you suggest for solo and of those which set of nex is ideal?  Sorry if I sound nooby I just havent really got into the boss scene.....

Bandos is easily the best boss to learn and train how to solo on.  Torva is melee, Pernis is range, and Virtus is mage. I don't do much bossing myself. If you want a boss that involves switching weapons and possibly gear if needed and prayer switches and being attacked by other minions, try out Kaphite Queen. Click the link in my signature for my personal guide if you'd like. :D Hope this helps and good luck.

Technically the most ideal situation is that you have both the Nex sets and PoP sets for each combat style.

Bosses to melee include: Bandos, Zamorak, and Saradomin Godwars Dungeons; Araxxor; Vorago (Base Tanking), Corporeal Beast; and Queen Black Dragon.

Bosses to mage include: Zamorak, Armadyl, and Saradomin Godwars Dungeons; Vorago (any role); Rise of the Six

Bosses to range include: Armadyl Godwars Dungeon, Vorago (dps), Rise of the Six, Araxxor, Queen Black Dragon, and Legiones

Bosses requiring multiple styles: Nex, Kalaphite King, Dagannoth Kings

If there is a boss that I didn't mention, it means that it isn't worth your time doing.

“I had a feeling we weren’t coming back from this fight when it began.”

“Do you have any regrets?”

“I don’t. It seems surprising, I know, but I wouldn’t change a thing. This is how it was meant to be.”

“Huh, you never really notice how lovely the day is until you realize you’ll never see it again.”

“Mmmhmm.”

Looks like tomorrows goal is to finally start and understand POP's lol.  Thanks for the help.  Start with Bandos, get comfortable, maybe some Sara after as a bit more difficult  then onto stuff like KK, Nex etc? Though both require teams correct?

They don't *require* teams, but only the skilled should attempt those bosses solo. The only bosses that you should be soloing without experience would be any of the Godwars bosses (sans Nex), Dagannoth Kings, Legiones, Corporeal Beast, and Queen Black Dragon.

I would recommend you buy back your Drygores ASAP as they are pretty cheap, and you will quickly make your money back for them. If you are interested in also getting ranged, I would suggest that you buy a Noxious Longbow.

If you want to buy a nex set or two, I might would wait until the increased drop weekend happens as they might go down in price slightly during that time.

Yes it does, but the tutorial isn't long enough or explain the system well enough imo. So yeah, feel free to message me.
