Blaze The Movie Fan
I thought that for security it'd be good to have it. Now a lot of years later, I'm like what's the point? I'm not foolish enough to go to scam sites anyway. And at the top of that nobody can guess my password. And if someone wanted to reset it they'd have to go through my e-mail, and my e-mail password is also impossible to guess. So should I just remove the pin codes altogether? If I did that, I'd be a lot quicker to go to my bank and use my money other ways.
cowmaster187
As a rule of thumb I would suggest that you do not remove it as things can happen, impossible to guess passwords and all. Murphy's law and all, shit can happen. If you feel lucky, or you really don't care the choice is yours. ~~~legoman187~~~ Clicky siggy for blogThanks Pendonub for fancy new sigThieving guide[WIP]Loyal player since May 2005 and member since November 2005 and Tifer for many years~~~legoman187~~~
Arceus
You can remove it if you like, but it is one more layer of security if you decide to keep it. Do you have two-step verification setup on your email to make sure that is secure? "Fight for what you believe in, and believe in what you're fighting for." Blaze The Movie Fan
Do you have two-step verification setup on your email to make sure that is secure? Well, if I lose access to my e-mail I can easily get a verification code to my cellphone. Anyway I have decided I am removing my bank pin. Since it's unnecessary since like I said no one can access my RuneScape account but me.
D. V. Devnull
Blaze, I'm gonna be straight-to-the-point... NEVER remove your PIN. If anyone does get your password, even as seemingly impossible as it should be, that PIN Code provides the extra comfort of deadlocking whoever broke in out of your money pouch and bank for an extended period. Last I heard, it takes only like 3 to 5 PIN entry failures to deadlock somebody out of your bank and money pouch for like 6 hours, or even possibly a full day or more. That's an honest comfort that you should NEVER give up, especially if you're continuing to play RuneScape. :ugeek: ~Mr. D. V. "It saves you from grief, so don't lose it." Devnull (p.s.: BTW, about linking to videos via your siggy, you can point people at your YouTube Channel without incurring a problem. Just don't point directly at the videos, and make sure there's warnings about language in your Video Descriptions.) 1 and normally with a cool mind.(Warning: This user can be VERY confusing to some people... And talks in 3rd person for the timebeing due to how insane they are... Sometimes even to themself.)

Come on I have had this account for over a decade, the worst thing that's happened is that I got e-mail from someone trying to get my password, and ignoring said e-mail made the attempt go away. Hedgehog
Just don't give out your email or password to anyone and you won't get hacked. If you don't get hacked, you don't need your pin.

It takes, what?, 5 seconds to enter your bank PIN? It's not that big of an inconvenience, is it?
Arceus
Once upon a time they did manage to hijack my account and take the stuff that wasn't PIN-protected on my account >.<. Saradomin_Mage
Dseance got hijacked once, and he didn't have a PIN on his account because it was inefficient, I think. Blaze The Movie Fan
I still find it very unlikely that I could get hacked since it hasn't happened to me for over a decade.
essiw
If you use the validator and have a two step login for your e-mail then a bank pin shouldn't be needed, because even if they get your passwords they cannot login because they would need your validator, they also cannot reset your validator as they would need the two step verification for your e-mail as well. If you don't use the validator and/or not have a two step login for your e-mail keep using a bank pin, because you won't be happy when you login and all your stuff is gone. Better be safe than sorry. http://sign.tip.it/1/2/79/260/essiw.png Retired item crew I would like to be credited as essiw at the website update & corrections forum. Thanks! Kaur
If you have to ask, it isn't safe. You obviously don't trust yourself enough to answer that question. Simple, really.
Sy_Accursed
The way I view it is that it may be unlikely you'll get hacked but which situation do you prefer: 1) Spending a few seconds per session to punch in a pin code and if you ever do get hacked all your stuff is nice and safe. 2) Instant access to money pouch, bank account etc. etc. and if you ever do get hacked you lose everything. Every last item and coin in every storage gone. To me situation 1 is far better. It's kinda like home/car/contents/health/whatever insurance irl - you get it but live in the hope you never need it and with any luck it won't ever be used. but its far better to spend that small amount and have the just in case than it is to have 0 safety net if the bad thing does happen. 3 Operation Gold Sparkles :: Chompy Kills :: Full Profound :: Champions :: Barbarian Notes :: Champions Tackle Box :: MA RewardsDragonkin Journals :: Ports Stories :: Elder Chronicles :: Boss Slayer :: Penance King :: Kal'gerion Titles :: Gold Statue
Blaze The Movie Fan
You guys can all say that removing the bank pin is the most horrible thing I can possibly do. But to be entirely honest I don't really care. Sure, it would suck to lose all the items I spent so much money on gaining, but at the end of the day it's just a game. The only item I mind losing is my dragon battleaxe, and it's very cheap so no big loss there. I don't think I am gonna lose any of my items, but if I do I won't lose sleep over it. I don't mind having to collect items all over again.
Sy_Accursed
If you 'don't really care' what we have to say on the matter, why bother posting in the help and advice forum asking for our views on removing it? I mean you seem pretty certain you want to remove it and its in your way and don't think you'll ever get hacked so great go remove it if thats how you feel. But why bother asking for our advice if your just gonna ignore it all and already have made your mind up? 5 Operation Gold Sparkles :: Chompy Kills :: Full Profound :: Champions :: Barbarian Notes :: Champions Tackle Box :: MA RewardsDragonkin Journals :: Ports Stories :: Elder Chronicles :: Boss Slayer :: Penance King :: Kal'gerion Titles :: Gold Statue
