Mith and Addy Hatchets as Ironman

From the research I have done on this site it seems the only way to get these is either killing medium level creatures or making them myself. Why is it so much harder to get these compared to the pickaxes. Is this intentional by Jagex or an oversight when Ironman was introduced? Maybe I am just missing an easy way to obtain these hatchets?

hams do easy clues (you won't get addy gear from easys, may get black or mithril, but i have yet to get either material in hatchet form from easys) , dagnoths do mediums (lighthouse ones, don't know if the others do for sure). From what i have been told harpie bug swarms also do mediums.

It's just the way they made it back then, they put a NPC in the mines that sold every pickaxe in the game and never did the same for axes. Beats me.

The strange design choices they made back then which really should be changed, but never were.

Addy can be got from steels, troll generals, or the DKs, miths are fairly common from blue drags up until the table change on monday.

You're going to need to get a mithril hatchet for Animal Magnetism either way. Make sure not to tool belt it.

Personally, just go for a rune one at this point considering even a mithril one is taking like level 70 stuff anyways. Kill iron dragons they drop both addy and rune ones. You can kill bronze dragons too if you need a mithril one. They're both really kiteable even at a low level.

The general idea of level 2 clues for an addy one is still a strong idea. Much less suffering if you need it right away.

If you don't urgently need the levels just get 60 magic and you can kill Rex for a Dragon Hatchet, just skip the other ones. Honestly think it saved me time as I needed dragon eventually anyway.

Honestly, should just get an adze at this point saves the effort of having to get a dragon hatchet. So much better.

Not possible without level 92 FM

I was starting to get really sarcastic. Most of these ideas are way past what OP current stats are and will be. These are legit efficient strats in the long run, however.

I got my mith hatchet by actually smithing it. Also got a few from blue dragons, using spined armour + antibreath shield + rune javelins. Eventually I got adamant from Dagannoth Rex, wasn't lucky enough to score dragon, and then settled with getting a rune hatchet from a steel dragon drop with bat wand + skeletal.

If you unlock the resource dungeon in the Dwarven mine, you can use that to bank iron from the 3 rocks outside it and smith that iron at the Artisan's workshop. From your level, around 700 iron should get you to 50 smithing. You can then boost to make the mithril hatchet.

You can also get mith hatchets from giant rock crabs semi-frequently according to rune wiki, would be a viable option with level 50 magic and Iban's staff. You're going to have to get your combat stats up a fair bit anyway before you can do any decent woodcutting with addy+ hatchets.

In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.
