Hati & Sköll - The Wolf Pack Returns

RuneScape members only

Head to the Fremennik Province and talk to Vali or Rellekka for directions

Find Eir just south of the Golden Apple Tree in the south-east of the Fremennik Province

Hati and Sköll are back for a whole wintery month. Hunt them down for rich XP rewards and - if you don’t already have them - some ice-cool cosmetic items.

If you've hunted the beasts before, it'll all be quite familiar. The main change is that the XP rewards are now given as a combination of normal XP and Bonus XP.

If you're new, or just need a reminder, read on. There are three things you can do:

Hunt Down Hati

Hati - the legendary wolf of Fremennik legend - can be found wandering the woods south-east of Rellekka.

He's tough, and his attacks accurate, but work together and you'll take him down. Anyone who contributes to the fight will be eligible for loot when the wolf howls his last.

There's a high chance that he'll drop Hati paws - cosmetic gloves that can be clicked to claim normal and Bonus XP in your choice of combat skill. He can also drop a cosmetic hood and cloak, if you don't already have those.

Summon Sköll

Sköll is Hati's wilier sibling, and must be lured to Gielinor by adding logs to the bonfire, west of Rellekka's entrance.

Once 120 logs are added to the fire (across all worlds, including all players) Sköll will show his face. Like Hati, you may need help to defeat him, but anyone who contributes - be it in combat or by adding logs - will be able to loot him when he falls.

He can drop Sköll boots - which grant normal and Bonus XP in Agility or Woodcutting when clicked - and a cosmetic amulet, if you don't have it.

Find Eir's Gear

Eir is a Valkyrie who's sure that the Sixth Age is the End of Things. She's also lost her helmet and spear, and needs your help to get them back.

Defeat Hati or Sköll - or harvest enriched wisps at the colony south-east of Rellekka - for a chance to get one of these items. Repeating these actions will get you duplicates, so to collect Eir's gear you'll need to:

Get two of one type of item (helmet or spear)

Trade with another player for the other

Once you've got both, speak to Eir by the Golden Apple Tree. You'll get a chunk of normal and Bonus XP in your choice of Prayer or Divination, plus cosmetic overrides of Eir's helmet and spear, if you don't have them from last year.

Enjoy!

Hati and Sköll are here until the 19th of February, so be sure to get your rewards before then.

Please note: if you have unclaimed Bonus XP on gloves or boots from a previous year, be sure to claim if before participating in this year's event - otherwise, it will be lost.

Have fun, and join the discussion over on the forums.

Wondering if ironman can get the bonus xp and if we ironman can trade the piece of eir's gear. Like normally they don't mention such things in their updates >.>

So yeah they forgot about ironman. And they are changing it, not sure about the bonus xp though, here is a quote from mod kalaya.

"The mechanic hasn't been changed for the Eir items because community sentiment from the beginning has been that ironmen shouldn't get it easy; no treasure hunter, limited bonus experience, no trading, and for the account to be a challenge. This is why the trading hasn't been enabled for this event.

We will be measuring sentiment, and it's possible that we can look into whether this needs to be changed.

That's why it's like this for the moment though.

EDIT: We are going to be changing it so ironman can trade spears and shields shortly."

Also In other news, I just found out that you cannot get any talismans nor master runecrafting robes from GOP as an ironman. GOP was opened recently for ironman, there is no chat or any warning about the master rc robes, except for when you try to buy them. I understand the talismans, but why the master rc robes? They take an enormous amount of time to get in a dead minigame...

Knew it, the Pheromone drop wasn't as common as many were claiming. I must have done 10-13 kills every day since update and didn't get a single one.

I guess they figure that any xp boosting stuff to Ironman accounts is 'bad' for now. Also, I'm incorporating the patch notes into the first post ;).

Alls xp boosting stuff that can be gotten from single play is allowed (lumberjack for example). This really just devalues (multiplayer) minigames more than they have been already imo. But maybe I can put this on runelabs...

Edit: also why, if we cannot use those permanent boosting clothing, can we use the wolves non-perm xp giving clothes, can get lamps from santa etc. Please either be consistent or just give us all minigames rewards except for the direct XP/item stuff. It is not like minigames are to overpowered for ironmen. Most of the time doing other stuff is better XP/wise than mingames anyway.

This one time Jagex was consistent and rational...then I woke up.

But seriously, regarding GOP, I guess their idea was just to allow a couple of the rewards for convenience purposes or something. I guess their logic went "okay fine, you can have a talisman since those can be a pain to get and you should have a guaranteed 100% way of getting them. But teleports no, xp boosting clothing no." Are Hati and Skoll forced to be single-player for Ironmen? As in, to get clothing/weapons, do you have to kill them all by yourself or with a group of people? If it's the former it seems more consistent with the spirit of Ironman.

lol

Nah you read me wrong, you cannot get the talismans, but you can get the teleports, my guess is that you can get tabs because you need a blood tab for an achievement task set. For hati and skoll, I guess a group of people, but imo we should just get the clothing of hati and skoll and not the xp bonus... But it just seems so inconsistent, why give one but not the others? Either do all of them, or none, or be reasonable about which one you will do or not. Right now it seems like they do it the opposite way around, they give us temp bonus xp by the clothing of these wolves, but we cannot get a perm bonus from clothing... I cannot find a reasonable argument for that decision, except that they didn't think about the wolves and ironman...

I thought I read something about a single blood altar teleport only, but I guess I might have been mixing things up >.<.

Edit: "Ironman characters may now play The Great Orb Project. Rewards are restricted to the cosmetic outfits and a single Blood Altar teleport." - Jan 5 patch notes. Did they goof?  :-w

I didn't check the other tabs, but I guess master runecrafting robes are not cosmetic outfits... I skipped over that when I read it thinking that those master rc robes were now allowed :(

Although I just had an other idea, make a single player version of minigames, or make one minigame in which you can earn tokens to spend on other minigame-rewards like these rewards. Make those other ways of getting the rewards less efficient than playing the minigames and voila, you have fixed the problem for ironman and for dead minigame rewards.

So apparently you can toggle it so that your vials break like flasks after you drink the last sip. [bleep] yes, awesome. It's been on my wishlist for quite some time.

I feel that the whole drag and drop thing made this update slightly redundant, but I am reveling with you anywyas for the ease of it all :p.

I for one am also loving the movable xp pop-up. That has to be the ninja highlight of the year so far. I hate having minigame HUDs being so... in the way? Letting us move the xp pop up from the top middle was amazing.

Now we just need chris l to cave in and let a chat message on acidic, mirrorback and pulsing spider spawns.

It's a pain to drag and drop, especially during PVM, and not to mention the drag and drop can be quite dangerous as you can accidentally drop valuable items.

Also part of the challenge of Araxxor is being on the lookout and being alert for the Mirrorback and Pulsing Spiders, as ignoring them can be absolutely devastating. Though, I could do with a repeal of the stupid 300% anti-farm mechanic.

stupider request: every time a vial is destroyed in that way, there should be a character animation after drinking to smash that vial on their forehead

I just got everything on ironman, while it does seem to scale to level the amount of bonus xp doesn't seem to make sense on lower levels. I got 40k bonus xp for div, while I have 20k xp total (haven't trained it yet).

Have other people noticed that it now includes your current title in the welcome back message in the lobby? I think that's new, right?

No its not new ive noticed it before. I think its just that the name is centered and maybe slightly larger that makes it stand out.

Nub question: After I get all the rewards from Hati, Sköll, and Eir, I don't need to return and do the stuff again the next day, right?  This is just an event you do once and you're done?
