Dropbox
But in Forum Games you only count a number and I want count fast and if I count fast I get that error and if I count slow other people can ninja count and then I need edit my post and need to wait 30 seconds. Can you follow it? ;) Sometimes I like to dig a hole in the ground and pretend I'm a carrot.
D. V. Devnull
@ EVERYONE -- It's actually 45 to 60 seconds wait between posts. Yes, even I have been wishing that @MageUK would install an add-on of some kind that would enable adjusting it on a board-by-board basis. Until then, we're pretty much stuck. :| @ @Dropbox -- You might try posting some form of math by your numbers. It adds a minor extra delay in how soon you post, which should enable you to not hit the Flood Limiter as often. I'll add some examples in my posts on those counting threads today to give you a helpful example on doing that. :) ~D. V. "For now, we must grin-and-bear-it." essiw
Imagine what would happen if we wouldn't have that restriction and a spambot comes... 1 http://sign.tip.it/1/2/79/260/essiw.png Retired item crew I would like to be credited as essiw at the website update & corrections forum. D. V. Devnull
Heh... Yeah, I know. I'm not talking about total removal either. I'm sure, however, that there is a rate that could be set on some forums that would realistically prevent those fast spambots without hurting the activity of normal forum users. But again, that would require something to adjust on a board-by-board basis. :| ~D. V. "Those dang 'White Elephants' in the room!" Dropbox
Good captcha stops bots, work with SFS. 10 secs is enough? Sometimes I like to dig a hole in the ground and pretend I'm a carrot.
essiw
Good captcha stops bots, work with SFS. 10 secs is enough?Captcha hasn't stopped most bots since years already. Remember the time where we had have captcha everywhere? Now we nearly have no captcha's anywhere. Also you might find 10 seconds enough, but most people have no problem with the 30 second limit. It also prevents people from replying one-word-replies to many topics after eachother. http://sign.tip.it/1/2/79/260/essiw.png Retired item crew I would like to be credited as essiw at the website update & corrections forum. Arceus
I don't think the forum supports that. Their posts could be autohidden or something, but that would probably do more to discourage potential newcomers to the forums than to alleviate the effects of the few spambots we do get. Dropbox
I think it's possibole, groups can be based on post count, permissions for a group? :) Edit: https://www.invisionpower.com/services/spam-monitor - If I'm correct that works with the Stop Forum Spam Database. https://www.keycaptcha.com/ < Is that nothing? ;) Sometimes I like to dig a hole in the ground and pretend I'm a carrot. Boris5000
I honestly don't think any where on tif is active enough to warrant reducing the 30 second timer. Luck be a Lady

If we are all users of the same forum then there is minimal activity for both of us to participate within. So I fail to understand why this 30 second throttle is hindering ones TIF experience. D. V. Devnull
Have you seen two posts show up in one minute in Forum Games? We could use a throttling time reduction there. I've hit the limiter a lot when replying to @Arceus recently. :( ~D. V. "And my head hurts from it." Devnull (EDIT: p.s.: I just did it again going from here to "Count Down from 30K" @ http://forum.tip.it/topic/313047-count-down-from-30k/page-303?do=findComment&comment=5555606.) Devnull Granted I have seriously been on the forum games since 2007 (apart from the old post) so I wouldn't have found that the throttling has hindered my forum experience. I would further stress that this is a Runescape Forum not a Forum Games Forum. Luck be a Lady
