Minigame Spotlight

The Minigame Spotlight system makes it all the more rewarding to play your favourite minigames – and to try out new ones!

Earn thalers – the Spotlight system's currency – by playing any of 14 minigames:

Pest Control, Soul Wars, Fist of Guthix
Barbarian Assault, Conquest, Fishing Trawler, Great Orb Project,Flash Powder Factory, Castle Wars
Stealing Creation,Cabbage Facepunch Bonanza, Heist, Mobilising Armies & Trouble Brewing

Then, spend them on selected rewards from any of the games included in the system, as well as limited runs of selected Treasure Hunter items.

Every three days, a minigame will be spotlighted, yielding thalers five times faster than it would normally.

RuneScape has a wide variety of minigames, and here's a new reason to try them all out. Read on for further details!

How to Start

You can claim 1 thaler per 5 minutes simply by playing any of the games listed below. Playing the spotlighted minigame earns you 1 thaler every minute. You will – of course – still receive any currency or other rewards usually awarded by the minigame.

The spotlighted minigame changes every three days. The order is as follows:

Pest Control
Soul Wars
Fist of Guthix
Barbarian Assault
Conquest
Fishing Trawler
Great Orb Project
Flash Powder Factory
Castle Wars
Stealing Creation
Cabbage Facepunch Bonanza
Heist
Mobilising Armies
Barbarian Assault
Conquest
Fist of Guthix
Castle Wars
Pest Control
Soul Wars
Fishing Trawler
Great Orb Project
Flash Powder Factory
Stealing Creation
Cabbage Facepunch Bonanza
Heist
Trouble Brewing
Castle Wars

Note that – by design - some minigames come up more frequently than others. Once this rotation ends, it will restart and continue indefinitely.

Rewards

Outside each minigame covered by the system is a podium, and on the spotlighted minigame's podium you'll find Stanley Limelight – the Spotlight host. You can find out which minigame is currently under the spotlight and access the thaler reward store from any podium – whether Stanley's there or not.

Stanley Limelight
Opening the store will reveal selected rewards from all minigames included in the Spotlight system – armour sets, skilling outfits and more. There'll also be a selection of rewards normally only found on Treasure Hunter. These will be limited in availability, so get them while you can!

Note that Ironman accounts cannot claim any rewards from the Spotlight Reward Store that they would not ordinarily be able to access.

There's never been a better time to get into RuneScape minigames and enjoy their unique rewards. Have fun, and let us know your thoughts over on the forums.

Blurite swords (plus an off-hand variant) can now be smithed after completing The Knight's Sword quest.

Elite clue scrolls have been added to the Barrows Brothers' reward chest.

The Sceptre of the Gods now has level 1 magic stats and no requirement to wield it.

Players can now use keys [1-3] to choose the preferred action when crafting logs.

"Note that Ironman accounts cannot claim any rewards from the Spotlight Reward Store that they would not ordinarily be able to access."

great... I finally thought they had solved the minigame reward problems for ironman... why? We still earned the points, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be allowed... especially for stuff like MA rewards...

edit:

"Players can now hold one of each tier of clue scroll."

this is a patch note, lol? But finally... took some time.

"Blurite swords (plus an off-hand variant) can now be smithed after completing The Knight's Sword quest"

Lol, so now they are not special anymore and people will finally stop caring about those (imo ugly) swords? :P

That was patched in Old School last week - good to see they are finally willing to migrate some of the good updates and fixes in Old School to RS3 when appropriate. And off-hand blurite sword, ooh...

I don't like the idea of a completely deterministic minigame rotation. There should have been some amount of randomness/surprise. I'm not sure how much good it does when everyone is expecting it lol.

You're right, it could make them so mad, they actually start playing instead of cooperatively AFK'ing! :ohnoes:

Don't worry they will still bleep and whinge now, because most of the players don't read and many probably have no clue that it is deterministic :3

There you have it, folks. Here we thought they would be making Silverhawks available via gameplay, but it sounds like they made them limited supply.

They aren't.

 Skill outfits are limited

Silverhawks are normally only found on Treasure Hunter, so it is kind of ambiguous. By skilling outfits in the first sentence I assume they mean stuff like the Fish Flingers outfit...

So if you can make 400k gp an hour, it isn't worth it to buy silverhawk down.... Unless you are playing BA for agility bxp and don't give a piss about any of the other rewards, buying the down isn't worth it at all. The large prismatics are just shy of bxp 17k xp an hour during spotlight.

“I don’t. It seems surprising, I know, but I wouldn’t change a thing. This is how it was meant to be.”

“Huh, you never really notice how lovely the day is until you realize you’ll never see it again.”

“Mmmhmm.”

My predicted 14 was pretty spot on:

[hide]

Well in videos they have said 14 games in the spotlight rotation and named cwars, ba and trouble brewing.

Based on the rewards you can buy I'd say 4-9 are:

MA (imbued rings),

Fight Pits (hybrid gear)

Soulwars (hybrid gear)

FoG (hybrid gear),

Pest Control/Conquest (I imagine these will be treated as 1 & void robes)

Stealing Creation (the armour piece)

Then 10-14 I'd take a guess at:

Heist

Cabbage Face Punch

Great Orb Project

Flash Powder Factory

Fishing Trawler

That way you've got all the supposed to be multiplayer minigames covered.

Also @ idling thing the thing to be careful of in terms of it being branded a bug is the other games like cwars are time limited, BA is not which is where the difference lies. Idling through a cwars game is douchey to your team but not abusing stuff; intentionally not finishing an un-time limited BA wave to idle indefinitely would be abusing the system.

[/hide]

All I got wrong was PC and conquest are separate and not fight pits.

Uggghhhh.

Thought thalers would entirely replace all minigame currency.

How wrong I was.

I was hoping to get a castle wars halo doing pc lol.

You might still be able to do this. Since cwars rewards sell back to Lanthus at full price for golden tickets, you might be able to buy some cwars items with thalers and sell them for tickets (effectively converting them) to use for a halo. Unless they did some creative way of preventing this.

Can someone smarter than myself help me with some math? What would the time saved be getting full void by using PC points + thalers? And can you get the supreme void or whatever or just basic void?

At this point, given that the games are going really fast, by the time I have enough thalers to buy one of the pc helms ill have already gotten the points to buy it and the upgrade.

since it is the only thing i have left, the thalers are getting used elsewhere, but it would save a decent amount of time for some one starting a new set.

I don't think its all that ambiguous the TH skill outfits (outfits not silverhawks) are limited hence why they are in the limited tab of the shop.

Whilst silverhawks are perma reward.

I think they fall under limited because you can only have 1 of them.

You can only have 1 master rc robe set and 1 silverhawk pair and neither are under limited.

Well, my thalers are probably going towards the remaining TH skilling outfit pieces that I don't own.

CW is still better to do for gold tickets, after all.
