Adopt a Big Cat to Support the WWF

Answer quiz questions in a special Big Cats edition of The Drop and donate Bonds to adopt four big cat companions and unlock exclusive titles - raising awareness of the plight of these endangered animals, in partnership with the World Wildlife Fund.

Head to Burthorpe and talk to the Conservationist to get started. The Big Cats quiz will start twice hourly – on the hour and at half-past. Answer questions correctly to earn points, which can be used to adopt companions and unlock titles.

You can also speak to the Conservationist to donate to the World Wildlife Fund using Bonds. For every Bond given to the Conservationist through July 20th-August 17th, Jagex will donate at least £2.85 to the WWF in support of their global conservation effort.

Doing so lets you adopt more companions, and earns non-Ironman characters a big cats gift per Bond – containing 7 Treasure Hunter Keys.

Speak to the Conservationist to open the Sanctuary interface, where you can collect your companions and unlock your titles.

Companions:

  • Jaguar Cub | 9 points
  • Tiger Cub | 9 points
  • Lion Cub | 1 Bond
  • Snow Leopard Cub | 5 Bonds (total)
For the next four weeks, you can use a beast of burden pouch on any of the cub companions to impart the same benefits to your feline friend.

Titles:

  • Snowy Assassin title | 2 points
  • Stealth Predator title | 2 points
  • King of the Jungle title | 2 points
The Big Cats quiz lasts two weeks – the first week themed around jaguars and the second around tigers. You can earn up to 12 points in the first week, and 24 in the second.

As a bonus, participating over the course of the event will also earn you XP lamps:

Answer one Jaguar Week question | 1 small XP lamp

Answer all 12 Jaguar Week questions | 1 medium XP lamp

Answer one Tiger Week question | 1 small XP lamp

Answer all 12 Tiger Week questions | 1 medium XP lamp

The Conservationist will stay around for a further two weeks to allow access to the Sanctuary.

Get involved and give generously over the next two weeks, and tell your friends about this fantastic cause. You can find out more about our other in-game charity events in support of the WWF below.

Visit the WWF's website, too, and find out more about awe-inspiring work they do to protect the world's endangered species.

Mazcab | Solo Content

The portal to Mazcab's been open for a week now, and even if you're not ready to raid, there's a whole load to do there.

Be sure to check it out if you haven't already – there are no entry requirements, and the bizarre, alien Nemi Forest is ripe for exploration by anyone. Rescue lost goebies, manipulate ancient artefacts and tackle the exotic plant life to uncover long-buried lore secrets, pets and more.

You can reach Mazcab by speaking to Wizard Chambers at the docks between Lumbridge and Al Kharid – he'll teleport you straight to Tuska's back, where you'll find the portal. Alternatively, head to the Bandit Camp lodestone or head south along the Kharidian Desert coastline, then swim over to the fallen body of Tuska.

Ninja Fixes | Vampyres

Later this year comes the next quest in the deliciously dark Myreque series, so the Ninjas have made their most daring infiltration yet. They've snuck into Morytania and made a coffin-load of tweaks, fixes and quality of (un)life improvements to the Myreque quests and the area in general.

Read the patch notes for full details. If you've yet to play this much-loved quest series – which is a requirement of the new quest - there's never been a better time to do so. Steel your nerves, and get prepared now!

I don't really understand what they mean with

"Gypsy Aris now has an option to finish a replay of Dimension of Disaster, setting the remaining sub-quests to a completed state, and closing the portal to New Varrock. This option only becomes available after completing a replay of Coin of the Realm. Using this feature to complete Dimension of Disaster will not award silver pennies or Zemomarks."

Does this mean we can "complete" the quest? I don't get it.

I guess it means that if you're halfway through a replay and decide you're bored, you can have it set back to fully completed, at the expensive of not receiving any silver pennies or Zemomarks.

The coal bag seemed like it came out of left field but that's a nice improvement, three times more space! Too bad about friend deleting confirmation in the lobby though - now it will take twice as long to clear off my friends list :(.

I'm happy at the idea of solo content. They've been gaga over team content for so long I thought they had forgotten solo playing.

Wouldn't it be nice if there were a large enough pool of people with about equal gear and ability level in PvM who could generally get along well and boss together? Then if someone had to go getting someone else to substitute would be readily possible.

..Never mind, that would never happen.

Sorry, I don't see how this is relevant to the topic at hand at all.

It was regarding solo/group play but anyway...yeah 2.5x-3.5x XP through the abyss is kind of a big deal! I'm surprised it got relegated to the patch notes >_<.>

From some stuff I saw on reddit bloods are around 160k xp/hr (very rough estimate). Runespan maxes around 120k (again, rough estimate)

Ok so I did an hour of blood rcing via abyss. Turns out my 160k estimate was pretty good (granted my method was horribly unoptimized as you are about to see):

j6f3y.png

I forgot to keep track of my blood rune count but I think it was around 5.8k for the hour. 99 rc. Even once bloods inevitably crash this should still be make at least 1m/hr bare minimum.

Notes:

- All 5 available pouches

- No avatar bonus

- No RAF

- No bonux XP

- No bonus XP outfit

- No presets

- No familiar

- Repairing pouches at mage

- I was attacked twice (no deaths) and had to change surge route / use freedom (minor inconvenience). Shouldn't be an issue when hype dies down.

- There seems to be a bug where if you are attacked at a certain point when entering you don't get the 3.5x bonus. 4 of my runs in that hour were base XP.

- The click boxes on the altar portals are awful. A lot of my wasted time came from trying to click the blood altar portal.

If fully optimized this could push 190k-200k/hr IMO

my understanding is that the additional bonuses don't stack with bxp?  so if you have bonus it is better to do runespan

best drops (reasonably accurate/up to date): 1x Elysian Sigil (LS), 1x Arcane Sigil (cs), 4x Armadyl Hilt (solo at 100m, 100m, 50m, and 5m), 2x Saradomin Hilt (solo at 25m), 5x Draconic Visage (34m,1.2m,1.2m) and various cs/ls/ffa Nex splits.
Drygore Drops: 7 Longswords, 3 Maces, 3 Rapiers, 3 Off-hand Rapiers,  5 Off-hand Maces, 3 Off-hand Longswords

ROTS Shields: 12  Seismics: 16

Ascension Crossbows: 6  Spider Legs: 10

Countless Armadyl armour pieces, Saradomin amulets, Dragon Hatchets, and Fremenik Rings.

Yes that's true, bonus xp is applied separate from the 3.5x so it's 4.5x. It's close w/ optimizations but I think abyss still edges it out because of the profit. You need to do runespan for massive pouches though

200k/hr runecraft exp sounds horrifying when it used to be slow enough that it was faster to train it with effigys

Check it out, huge amount of effort has gone into this massive mod!

my results roughly match those of other players posting their vyre burning shiny key drops, with about 620k value loot for 50 shiny keys

what with the statistical anomaly of a sara plate on top of that

i'd also like to add that due to the looting system and the fact that the key pedestals are close enough to each other, you can just burn a whole bunch of them in one go side to side and then click a key stack and siphon both stacks into your inventory in one shot

Well, JaGEx got $5.99 from me for that Lion Cub, lol. I hope charity sees some of that, but admittedly my intentions were 50/50 donation + pet... :P They also gave me a present which had 7 TH Keys in it, not bad overall I suppose.
