Fletching for Iron Men

The Whole point of being an Iron man in this game is to be completely self-sufficient, you gotta get your own gold and make your own equipment, Okay. So lets say I want to be an Iron man Archer. So I start the game with 25 arrows and I bow and after killing some goblins all my arrows slowly get used up and I have none left, Now I can't buy any that players sell to the lumbridge trader, pick up arrows that other players forgot about, nor can I trade with other players to get arrows.

So, because the whole Idea behind Iron man is to be self sufficient, I get the idea to make my arrows from scratch. So I get a knife and I get logs...and I can't, you want to know why? Because i'm not a member. That is just stupid, it completely defeats the purpose of doing the iron man mode. Yeah I could run all the way to rimmington to get arrows, but should I really have to do that? REALLY? You want me to run for 30 minutes to get a couple of arrows that i'm going to run out of again, just so I can go do it again?

This needs to be fixed.

I agree, but the only practical solution I could see to properly fix it would be to open up the whole lower half of the Fletching skill to free players, and I'm not sure Jagex would be so keen on that idea. Melee and Magic's component skills (smithing, even if it is a broken table, and runecrafting) are free to play enough to at least do most things.

By the way, assuming you are on RuneScape 3, you might try killing minotuars (with melee) as they drop bronze and iron arrows relatively often, to the best of my recollection anyway.

"Fight for what you believe in, and believe in what you're fighting for." Can games be art?

It may be annoying but I can't see it changing. Ironman is built to be a niche secondary account type mode for the kind of player who has run out of stuff to do on their main and will gladly pay for a second account to be members.

It's not like ranged is the only skill to suffer in f2p only in ironman - magic is limited by rc limitations.

Ultimately they just aren't going to move an entire skill to f2p just for ironmen - it's not broken you should be aware of what is and is not f2p and factor that in to your plans if you intend to play f2p as an ironman.

I wouldn't say that ironman is build for only that reason, more for the reason of having a (official) DIY account, instead of making your own rules. The reason you said falls under the reason I just said, but makes it broader.

@TS

This reason doesn't seem to change the fact that ironman in f2p is just not really something you should want to do (imo). You cannot make nat runes for example. But it has always been this way, DIY in f2p has always been "broken", an official DIY way of playing the game doesn't make it a new problem, rather an old problem, which is not being able to be make your own stuff in f2p. This "problem" has always been a non-problem to jagex, the reason being that if you want to do that you can become members.

Jagex would need to rebalance a large piece of f2p to be able to make DIY in f2p probable. Which is something that we all know won't happen, and to take your example, fletching for f2p has been suggested for as long as I have known, they might change their mind about the skill being p2p only, but I wouldn't count on it.

Also, isn't there a shop in varrock as well that sells arrows? (may be incorrect, as I haven't been f2p since yeas ;) )

What I would suggest to you is to make an unofficial DIY account and buy stuff that is not possible or not feasible for f2p to get from the GE (so be as much DIY as possible, to keep it fun), or become member if you really want to enjoy DIY.

Yes there is a shop in Varrock. It is just to the east of the general store or just to the east of the main square.

I think it sells bows up to maple as well. In f2p I think maple is the highest bow you can get unless something drops one higher.

Melee is probably going to be your best bet (easiest to play) in f2p, Ironman or open.

My Ironman account is my main account. I can't stand all the hand-holding group garbage and despise depending on others to play a game that I paid to be able to play whenever I want to play it.

Not doing your own work is in effect trying to get out of playing the game you paid to play???? You might as well be botting or buying your way through the game instead of playing the game like the feeble micro-transaction crowd does.

Minotaurs are also available in Old School RuneScape in the Stronghold of Security and they also drop arrows fairly frequently. In fact, they are a great monster for free players to train combat on!

There's nothing broken about the way the system is as it stands. What do you expect Jagex to do, open up members-only skills to free players? Part of being a free player is having limitations because you don't actually pay to play the game. If you don't want those limitations you'll need to invest in membership.

Also, it doesn't take 30 minutes to run to Rimmington from anywhere in the F2P-accessible world. Plus, there's also an archery shop in Varrock which sells arrows so you can run there if it is closer.

You're essentially asking Jagex to convert a large chunk of the members version of the game to F2P content because you want to be able to access it for free. You can play the free portion of the game as much as you want without paying a dime and that's actually very generous. If you want access to members-only content, though, you'll need to purchase membership. You can't just expect Jagex, a business, to give it to you for free.
