Christmas Quest Pt 2 | Master Quest Cape | More Defenders

RuneScape's Christmas celebration is well underway, and here's hoping you're already well into the festive mood.

This week, there's an exciting soft present under the tree for questing completionists – the master quest cape.

The next episode of The Pinch who Stole Christmas is now live. Find out what happened to Jack Frost's mum, unlock another event and unwrap another gift.

Finally, the ranged and magic defenders to accompany last week's release are here, filling out your top-end arsenal with awesome and versatile off-hands.

Remember – find out about everything that's coming up this Christmas by clicking the snowman icon on the Ribbon or Minimap bezel – including the Advent Calendar and Winter Weekends.

Master Quest Cape

The shoulder-warmer of choice for the most avid of lore fiends, the master quest cape is obtained from Curator Haig Halen at Varrock Museum by completing all story-focused content in game.

Full details are available in the Hero interface under the Completionist tab, but generally speaking, wearing the cape requires that you:

  • Complete all quests, mini-quests and unabridged sagas.
  • Unlock all additional post-quest rewards.
  • Complete story-rich content such as Court Cases and Player-Owned Ports voyages.
  • Complete content derived from – or an expansion of – quest content, such as Temple Trekking.
  • Obtain all titles which demonstrate a story accomplishment, such as Vyrelord or Annihilator.
  • Obtain items significant to the storyline, such as the gilded cabbage or crest of Seren.
  • Obtain lore journals.

It's a challenge to relish for those of you who can't get enough RuneScape story. We look forward to seeing these crop up in-game!

Live and Let Slide | Christmas Quest – Part 2

Now that Jack Frost's released from his gift-wrapped prison, it's time to free the Queen of Snow from the slippery perps of The Pinch who Stole Christmas.

Complete this week's part to unlock the ice skating activity – which awards Agility XP and the Ice Skating emote.

Ranged and Magic Defenders

As with the melee equivalents released last week, the level 70, 80 and 90 ranged and magic defenders require drops from the Barrows chest, Nex and the Kalphite King respectively, along with other items listed below.

Level 70

  • Tainted repriser | Combine Karil's two-handed crossbow with a corruption sigil
  • Blighted rebounder | Combine Ahrim's staff with a corruption sigil

Level 80

The ancient repriser and ancient lantern can both can be created by combining anancient emblem with a chaotic splint – 150,000 tokens from the Dungeoneering Reward Store.

Level 90

  • Kalphite repriser | Combine an off-hand ascension crossbow with a piece of perfect chitin
  • Kalphite rebounder | Combine a seismic singularity with a piece of perfect chitin

Enjoy!

The festive season's in full swing in Gielinor, so get stuck in and have fun. Let us know your thoughts over on the forums.

My main take away from MQC: I never quite realised just how many pointless post-quest tasks exist in-game.

Like we all know the big tickets like illuminating prayer books and what not, but my god some of them are just like wtf?

Getting to a 50gp chest in Icthalarin's little helper?

Tlelling Cecilla to leave the abbey or not after one piercing note?

Going back to the rusty anchor after Braindeath rum thingy to say you actually delivered the rum?

Taking a redberry pie to tht guy under ice mountain?

Also omg I hate rngsus I have 10 reqs left now.

1 is buying Mad Rambling part 2 which im a few honour points off.

The rest are all rngsus drops, including feeding tht frigging monkey bananas til it spits out a clue scroll.

I spent like an hour feeding tht thing today -.-

At least they didn't require stuff like strange token drops from DG.  That would be 'true mastery' but they decided to leave it out because of 1/50,000 RNG.

Agreed, though, with your point.

Yeah I wouldn't dispute court-cases being story rich. Overall I'd rate court cases as containing a larger amount of, and better quality, story than some quests do.

I mean they do vary and the 'harder' ones tend to be better cause more clues to do mean more story to find.

I'm fairly sure I'll never see a set of full Achto myself, but Achto Primeval + Seis / Rebounder sounds like godmode :o I'd like to see how it would fair in PvP against multiple players with T90 offensive

Does Defender's Insignia consider Rebounders shields?

Does Defender's Insignia consider Rebounders shields?

They'd die every quickly in a DM, but they would probably be able to tank and run warbands style for a few minutes. Really though, they'd want a real shield if they were trying to survive.

“I had a feeling we weren’t coming back from this fight when it began.”

“Do you have any regrets?”

“I don’t. It seems surprising, I know, but I wouldn’t change a thing. This is how it was meant to be.”

“Huh, you never really notice how lovely the day is until you realize you’ll never see it again.”

“Mmmhmm.”

How so? Assuming all everything is BIS, full Achto with a defender is ~82% DPS of power armor (edit: actually, the difference should be less when considering other bonuses like levels and potions, I think). The superior damage reduction of Achto (assuming PvP) makes this difference less significant, however (as well as the decreased accuracy due to superior armor bonuses, though that's probably not too important on its own). And at the end of the day, a defender still enables defensive abilities, while although less effective, are still dramatically better than the defensive abilities of an opponent without them. I'm certain, assuming otherwise BIS and equal player ability, Achto with defender would handily beat an otherwise DPS-centered opponent...

Actually, I see the mistake. Blutters (and by extension, your reply) were talking about a single tank vs multiple DPS roles. Nevermind.
