Patch Week | Shadow Dragoon Outfit

This update's a quiet one, as we lead up to next week's epic voyage to The Eastern Lands.

Look out for the latest batch of patches, including some handy tweaks to the combat options from the Ninjas, two classic RuneScape pets, and a graphically enhanced Shadow Dragoon Outfit on Solomon's General Store.

Read on to find out more, or play now.

Patch Week

Highlights of this week's patch notes include a couple of neat combat tweaks from our friendly in-house Ninjas.

First up, it is now possible to train Attack and Strength without also training Defence.

Next, we've removed the Momentum combat mode. Used regularly by only 2% of players, Momentum was only frequently used for Chompy Bird Hunting - for which, we've included a fix that allows ability usage.

We've also added Crunchy and Tim as follower pets for those of you who've completed Gower Quest. Just speak to them in the bar to unlock their smaller, cuter namesakes.

The Shadow Dragoon Outfit Returns

shadow_dragoon.jpg

From today until Monday 1st August, the Shadow Dragoon Outfit returns to Solomon's Store with a 10% discount, and looking more impressive than ever before.

The outfit has now been fully optimised for NXT, and has an altogether smoother texture.

Please note: If you have previously purchased the Shadow Dragoon Outfit, your outfit will be upgraded to the enhanced version free of charge.

The Shadow Dragoon Outfit costs 380 RC for free players and 342 RC for members and will be removed once again in two weeks' time, so make sure you grab it before it disappears!

Skills, D&Ds & Minigames

  • All players participating in the combat activities of Port Sarim Invasion will now receive tokens, not just the top three damage-dealers.
  • Bonfires in Prifddinas now have a cook option.
  • The Crackling perk no longer tries to use blood spells when activating.
  • The Turtling perk now also scales with the equipped shield's level.
  • The Bulwark perk now scales correctly.
  • The larger rock entry on the Mining skillguide (used to make ornate bowl for Tears of Guthix) is now marked as members only.

  • A failed batch of pigswill no longer causes the brewing vat to disappear.
  • Herb burners no longer continue to burn herbs after they have despawned.

Other

  • XP gained has been added beside the RuneMetrics tracker to replicate previous functionality. Please note, if the tracked skill is "Lots!", the tracking mode must be set to "this session" for these to appear. This setting can also be toggled.
  • A percentage of loot is now kept when dying while on a kill streak at Telos.
  • There is now a streamlined loot process to speed up the Telos loot and increasing enrage process. This can be toggled on the Telos loot interface.

  • The Max Guild's crystal tree teleport no longer places players on the wrong side of the Seers' Village flax field fence.

  • The Momentum combat mode has been removed due to its incredibly low usage rate. Players currently in Momentum will be switched to Legacy combat mode upon login.
  • Allowed use of abilities on chompy and jubbly birds.
  • The Lucky perk no longer triggers while the Resonance ability is in effect.

Tim and Crunchy are nice... but their unmoving expressions were a tad.. unnerving during the quest... especially with their chat heads..

I actually enjoy the ninja fixes in RuneScape sometimes even more so than actual new content. I feel like a lot of games do not update old content and only focus on the new stuff which is a real shame. Quality of Life improvements and fixing old bugs may not seem as flashy as a brand new quest, but these things affect a lot more players that you would think and it's great to have them in.

My favorite patch notes was something like 'Holy water now removes the damage reducing buff from Tormented Demons like Darklight.'

Such a tiny update really changed how I play the game.

  • Donie now avoids the Combat Academy.

Doesn't seem like much but this has already made a big difference for people skilling at the CA. Every so often they get things right.

THE place for all free players to connect, hang out and talk about how awesome it is to be F2P.

So, Kaida is the real version of every fictional science-badass? That explains a lot, actually...
