Combat gear questions

Recently started playing again, it has been about 2 weeks since I've been back, so forgive me for asking questions in which the answers are general knowledge. Anyway, let's get into it.

1. When I had stopped playing dual wielding was the big thing. Now it seems that 2h weaponry is preferred. I have dual drygore maces, and dual ascensions. my magic weapon is still a chaotic staff because I was never able to afford seismics. Assuming I am doing an even split of slaying and bossing, am I better off switching to 2h? And if so, are t85 2h better than t90 dual wield? I am building my bank up now so It will be a little while until I can afford t90s.

2. I remember getting rid of my dragon defenders before I stopped playing because I assumed they were useless. Now apparently there are T70, 80 and 90 versions that require boss drops to create, and defenders in general now have much more useful benefits. Are they worth getting? In that case, I would need to keep my dual wield weapons I assume. I would be starting from bronze to get the defenders again so I want to know how good they are before I invest the time into getting them.

Thanks in advance,

1. They went through a series of buffs and debuffs for 2h and dual wielding so that shifted stuff around a bunch. For melee a scythe is greatly preferred in most cases because it has the halberd feature - you can attack with melee at a distance of two squares. Technically, drygores are still better dps for a single target, but in most bossing situations you will have minions to contend with. A t90 dual wield will probably serve you better, unless you want to do something like camp abyss for XP. For slayer it may be advantageous as you can cleave more targets and the extra accuracy isn't really an issue.

For ranged, the difference is almost insignificant. Ascensions allow you shield swaps for better use of defensive abilities with bosses, and also give slightly better DPS. For magic a staff is generally better in bossing, as you have Sonic Wave which can be used frequently to boost the accuracy of your next attack. A chaotic staff should do for the time being.

2. I never got any defenders but my understanding is they are mainly of use in high-level PvM, especially in conjunction with the untradeable armor sets rewards from Raids and its set effect. It is of note that you'll need to sacrifice a t90 offhand weapon to make a t90 defender, and anything below that is probably not worthwhile. So to make a long story short, if you have time to kill you might as well get up to dragon in the Warriors' Guild to unlock them as potential drops from bosses, but you probably won't have any use for them for a while yet.

Hope that helps!
