The Dragon Slayer's Blog - 10001 dragons slain

Note: I am currently semi-retired from Runescape and don't keep up with the goals in this blog. You can still view and read my blog, but keep in mind I'm not actually doing these things anymore!

[hide=Dragon Count]10001 Dragons Slain (all visage droppers)

Current Goal: 20000

mario_sunny.png

How it started: One day I was very bored, and was searching for some exciting monsters to kill. I scrolled up and down Tip.it's bestiary and finally found a monster that I had only tried a few times, black dragons. I was particularly interested in this monster because I had recently unlocked the Recipe for Disaster black dragon area and wanted to take advantage of it.

The goal: I loaded up all my best range gear and headed down to the black dragons in Zanaris. At the time this 'secret' high level spot was almost unknown since Recipe for Disaster had just come out. In no time I was plunking bolts into black dragons, killing them slowly and surely. Because I loved their good drops and the fact that you could basically afk there, I decided to set a goal of 100 black dragons.

My small goal was over almost instantly. I felt it so short that I set an even bigger goal of 500 black dragons! I dived into my goal, rushing to the computer right after school and quickly logging onto runescape to start killing more black dragons. Because of the extremely rare chance of getting a visage, I had little hope that I would receive a visage but still hoped after every kill that that shiny dragon's face would appear on the ground.

The miracle came at exactly the 250th kill. I was lazily killing black dragons, and talking with some of my friends in Tip.it's clan chat. When the dragon died and a visage appeared I nearly had a heart attack. I was so excited I almost forgot to take a screenshot.

visage1.png

This visage encouraged me to set a new goal of 5000 visage-dropping dragons, ten times my second goal. That single visage drop nearly doubled my bank value (about 30M at the time), so obviously I was eager to get a second one. :P

The second visage was around kill 3100. This second one was from an iron dragon.

visage1j.png

This second visage encouraged me to keep going to complete my goal of 5000 dragons. After this goal I set aside and completed some other goals I had neglected.

In April 2009 I decided to revive this goal again because my love for dragon hunting had not died out. After 99 fishing I continued with my dragon goal starting at about 5100 kills.

On August 2, 2009, I completed my goal of 10000 dragons. Now I will be once again going for the impossible... DOUBLING my goal once again. Yes, I'll be going for 20000 dragon kills now, and you can bet there'll be a visage in that pile somewhere. I hope with this new goal I will get another visage, or perhaps two![/hide]

Goals

[hide=1001/1000 Soul Wars Zeal]1000 Soul Wars zeal (Complete)

Check out my Soul Wars Guide! Click here!

How it started: I started playing Soul Wars the day it was released. Since there had been no real updates in two weeks, I was excited about a new minigame and decided to give it a shot. Well, what do you know, I instantly fell in love with it! Soul wars is basically a better castle wars, and a more fun way to train your combat stats than pest control. Playing the game, I met many friends and eventually joined up with a clan chat. Being one of the first to join and stay through-out, I witnessed the eventual molding of Soul wars clans. I was determined to find the best way to win.

The goal: The actual goal started when I started saving past 200 zeal. I was actually afraid to spend any of my zeal because I was fearful I would spend it on the wrong stat. This eventually spawned my 1000 zeal goal, one which seemed easy when I was at 200 zeal, but would prove to be much harder down on the road. Thanks to my clan chat, which won 98% of their games, I was able to receive maximum zeal per hour, and was always looking for ways to increase it.

During my time in various clan chats in the official Soul Wars worlds I was sometimes given the job of master caller. This was my favorite job because it meant I was the one who decided the outcome of rounds. Whatever team I said, it the one that won the next round. I relayed my call to several allied clan chats, who all joined that team the next round.

When I got to 400 zeal I decided that my goal was progressing too slowly. I no-lifed the next 500 zeal, which basically made me sick of Soul Wars when I was finally at 900 zeal. The last 100 zeal was absolutely torturous; thankgod I had my friends and my clan to encourage me not to give up. <img src='http://forum.tip.it/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/eusa_dance.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<img src='http://forum.tip.it/ipbnew/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />/' />

Finally the goal was complete.

1001zeal.png

I spent the 1000 zeal a few days later. I cashed it all in in increments of 100 on strength in less than a minute. In other words, I got 7,600,000 strength experience in under a minute. (perhaps a runescape record?)

My strength jumped from 85 to 97, and my combat jumped 4 levels as well.

97str.png

Three days later I also got this:

Hope you enjoyed![/hide]

[hide=2364/20000 Aviansies Slain]20,000 Aviansies Slain (Work in Progress)

How it started: I had read several guides on Aviansies before and after several frustrating no-drop GWD trips I decided to test them out. I had been partially lured by the tales of players making dozens of millions to 99 range off these birds, and naturally I just had to see these monsters for myself. Upon killing my first 100, I fell instantly in love with their adamant bar drop rate. After the first trip I figured out how to maximize my kills per trip, and ended up getting triple the killcount on my second trip.

The goal: 20,000 is no random number. It is the amount of aviansies I will have to kill to get 99 range, a stat I've always wanted since my first armadyl trip. Indeed, the real goal here is 99 range. It will just take 20,000 aviansies to get there. :P

Drop list - 2364 kills

  • [*:2gyknm2x]2242 adamatite bars

    [*:2gyknm2x]1,154,200gp

    [*:2gyknm2x]412 Nature Runes

    [*:2gyknm2x]374 Blood runes

[hide=92/99 Construction]99 construction (Work in Progress)

mario_sunny.png

47937978.png

How it started: Construction was one of my favorite skills ever since its release. I got caught up in the 'construction fever' and it's never gone away. :P

The goal: 99 construction is my ultimate goal, bigger than 20K aviasies, 10K dragons, or 1K soul wars zeal. It was a far off distant dream about a year ago, because I only had about 25M. But now since I am high leveled and have discovered many new and great money making methods, 99 construction seems more tangible.

Why 99 construction?

  • [*:2gyknm2x]Extremely rare skillcape

    [*:2gyknm2x]A symbol of enormous wealth

[*:2gyknm2x]The ability to make an awesome house and have parties all night long!

99 construction, from my starting level (80) will cost about 42,000,000gp alone. Luckily I can half the cost by getting 217 stealing creation hammers! (Oh boy :( ) I'll have to get 4320 stealing creation points to get enough hammers for a straight shot to 99.

Then its part two: Using my hundreds of hammers to quickly saw my way through millions of exp (11 million to be exact). SC hammers not only save you half the cost but also grant double the exp! 320,000 construction exp per hour [/hide]

Ooh, a worthy goal :D . I really enjoy reading blogs where the skill that is being trained is not solely bought, but there is actually effort put in.....good job
