What I've Been Up To

Since my last update here, I've obviously maxed total at 2,376. I was the 677th player to reach this goal as well. I was able to be maxed for 2 weeks before Jagex released Dungeoneering on me. I'll explain a bit more about this in a bit.

Since maxing, I've been at work gathering the Strange rocks for the Shattered Heart distraction & diversion. I haven't been focused on it too much, so it'll probably take me longer than 30 full weeks to complete it. I'm almost 4 weeks into it now. Besides the obvious training of Dungeoneering, I've been working on some other goals - 20M Cooking, Woodcutting, and Fletching Xp. All of these have now been reached, so I have made the goal a bit higher - 50M Xp in each.

Whenever I get a chance to go with some friends, I'll work on Dungeoneering, but I'm in no real rush to get it to 99, let alone 120!

I've had the pleasure recently to be invited on a weekly RuneScape podcast called System Update. You can visit the site for more information on it. Basically it discusses the RuneScape updates for the week, any current news and whatever else the hosts wish to talk about. I was invited to be a guest on Episodes 11 and 13. It's a lot of fun being on the show and I think it's one of the best RuneScape related podcasts you'll find!

My Thoughts on Dungeoneering:

My first thought on the new skill was very much like everyone else's - this is no skill, it's just a very huge MINIGAME! I was also greatly disappointed by how slow it is to level up the skill, and how you seem to get more Xp by working with a team of people.

It's starting to grow on me though, and while I'm currently only level 54 in the skill, I do plan on taking this higher fairly soon as I get a chance to play with some friends. I absolutely cannot stand training the skill solo, especially since you don't get rewarded for doing everything on your own in a similar way as you would teaming. It just doesn't seem fair that you get more Xp training in a team doing less work than you do if you are solo'ing it.

Do I think the skill is easy or difficult? I'd say it's really easy. Once you get the hang of how prestige works, you'll find that the slow xp rates you start off with gradually get better and better over time. It actually speeds up the more you train it! The difficult part, at least for me, is finding a team that's online at the same time that I am and on the same floor that I am so we can go raid together.
