  1. Game of Thrones: very good.

Been watching an episode of True Detective right before. Does anyone know if Rust has some cliche 180 from his nihilism & co to some Happily Ever After worldview? This is necessary information before I invest more time.

    Not quite but almost?

And yes if you are trying to avoid Thrones spoilers you absolutely will need to get off the internet until you watch it. That's not hyperbole.

  2. Which is what really annoys me about tumblrettes who demand the recognition that comes with being trans without putting in the commitment.

I like to think I'm trans enough to not be annoyed by that at all, but who knows at this point :v

Even if you're just trying a label, that really doesn't affect anyone. I've never seen anyone but teenage trolls and politicians claim to be some LGBT anything for attention or recognition; that attitude mostly serves to silence and ridicule people who probably are something and are feeling things out. Because gender is a colossal mess and not everyone instantly knows who they are or even that they can be something else (I feel like I don't say this enough but gender is an awful thing that should be hit by a rainbow-colored train).

It's generally pretty awful to have other people who have no idea who you are define you and decide on the validity of your entire life based on one single picture. That's something of a sort of a sore spot among a lot of trans people as far as I can tell, because - surprise - the experts you have to go through aren't free from bias, and are often very strongly influenced by it. Especially since politicians have decided that they have more business policing kids' locker rooms than they do policing the water we drink.

Like, I recognize the handle of the last person you posted. They're actually pretty big on nobinary outreach and awareness, with a consistent and wide-reaching body of work that goes pretty far back... Which is pretty much the opposite of bandwagoning.

  3. We have to accept that America is becoming an even shittier place over time, and this time next year it could be even worse

I know you probably didn't intend for this to be a pun but this is a wonderful pun.

  4. What's worse is the bathroom portion of the bill is a smokescreen. Again, it's a bill that rewinds worker protections and affects all citizens of North Carolina.

I have to admit that I'm having a hard time taking them seriously when this is the sort of shit you would see in a trashy dystopian novel. I mean, it's still infuriating to hear about this repeating in a new state almost weekly and its supporters just need to grow the [bleep] up, but it's like the entire country has devolved into a hilariously satirical version of itself and I can appreciate that on some level.

On a highly unrelated note: I have been drawing and painting nothing but birds for the last month. Please send help and/or more pictures of birds that I can use as references.

  5. Deviation is fine as long as we don't get a repeat of "You want a good girl but you need a bad [kitty]". Or at least, if there is one they could maybe make it funny on purpose.

  6. My desired to watch GoT waned significantly after last season....

I'm just glad they're not even pretending it'll follow the same plot as the books anymore. If it ends up being bad, at least it would be bad original content.

  7. Twitch activity for RuneScape (OSRS and RS3) is very lively, and so is YouTube. The RuneScape subreddits are also rather active (~800 users there now [10:00 PM EST]--compare that to, say, /r/programming [a much larger, but still generally niche subreddit] with ~800 users as well). The game's population is usually above 40k, peaking at 80k during the day (and botting is much less of an issue in RS3--botting contributed tens-of-thousands years ago at a minimum).

As of this post we've got 69k players across... What, 3 or 4 versions of the game? Lost track. That would've been unheard of even a year or two ago. The Reddit thing is interesting. I've been hanging around r/Warframe and we're sitting at ~700 users for a game that is very much not in decline and has a non-negligible console presence

I feel like bringing up some Steam stats not to contribute in a meaningful or informed way (Since I don't know how to statistics as well as the computer science folks that make up 90% of the forum's population), but just because I can, and because as a Warframe player that detests Runescape the fact that it's got literally twice the current active player count is personally insulting:

don't give up, SkeletonScape! Even in your declining state you're still ahead of Warframe, ARK, and TF2 on one platform

That's not to say the game is in a good place (I'm not going there), but it'll probably be around for a while yet even if our niche forum isn't getting much attention. It probably speaks more toward the game's peak and the fact that we're forum enthusiasts lamenting the death of the forum when literally everyone else seems fine with Reddit and the like.

  8. Anyways, mum wanted to call me to California and Nevada for hiking. I then found and showed her the prices of even thinking about setting up a tent somewhere and now she is highly doubting.

It is pretty insane how much you have to pay for the right to simply set up a tent somewhere in the wilderness. We are completely used to the Scandinavian way, where you can camp and hike anywhere you want (unless it is a fenced or a cultivated area) without notifying the land owner or anything. We have the same thing here in Estonia aswell...

If you ever do end up over here, I have some recommendations.

  9. USA its like 7-9am aka most everyone at/going to work/school and won't be on for a good 8+ hours.

I'd have been more than happy to shitpost about the update, but I'm on the earlier end of that scale and was not awake at 7:30.

Now that I am awake let me just say that this sure was an update and that Sliske fellow is a clever rapscallion whose japes never cease to amuse, and as we all know...
