  1. What effect has 07 had on the race to 200m all in EoC? Are world pops down and as a result spawn rates? how drastically is this effecting xp/hour in various skills, i found it nigh on impossible to get within 20-30k exp/hour when hunting in a sup optimal world.

Has allowed people to shit in GP whilst doing AFKables (mostly Ivy), which takes the money making element of it all down a lot. There was also Alkan and possibly others who seem to have all but quit (well, Alkan appears to be on the return) which took a big toll on the ranks whilst also allowing people to gain a "lead" they would've otherwise been chasing.

[naivety] How is '07 allowing people to make so much money? Multi-logging and selling 07gp for EOCgp while afking on their main? [/naivety]

  2. Can't say I am really excited about having a pseudoscience - divination, as the basis of a new skill.

Mm, don't you just hate it when games based massively around magical events introduce pseudosciences? Really wrecks their integrity.

I'm looking forward to this, will be interesting to see what happens both with the skill and the markets inbetween the gathering and processing skills are released, however. Will the skill have any use other than its own xp before the processing skill? Perhaps the benefits gained from it would be skill-based rather than combat-based, allowing faster skilling by using Divination 'prayer'-equivalents.

  3. Nobody has 5B total exp and 200M exp in all skills.

That is simply the same as saying ''That was almost a goal, so close!'' in football. Nobody scored, no goal.

Not even remotely the same. For that analogy to work, the footballer would have to have an open goal, get the ball right up to the goal so it was basically guaranteed, and then just boot it away.

(Talking about real football, not American)

Not even that, he'd have to walk up to the goal with the ball and stand by it, uncontested, with the ball millimeters from the line, and he can choose to kick in whenever he likes. Indeed he could leave the stadium, go home, sleep, go on holiday, and whenever he chose he could go back to the stadium and kick the ball in, and nobody else will have done it for him, because this is a solo game of football... With no goalkeeper... But it's a bloody long pitch... OR SOMETHING. (Although someone else may have scored a goal in the meantime.)

P.S He also couldn't move the ball backwards... Though in summer the goal could move further away? Unless he broke the law in which case his ball might be removed from the pitch. TOO MUCH ANALOGY.

  4. Yoko, most of what you talk about is all well and good, but it's all in theory. The exact reason we need these high-priced novelty items is that theory and reality just don't match up.

    ...

It's true that some of these items have been a significant upgrade, but considering that the best way to obtain them is to fight that respective boss, it is fairly balanced.

Firstly, tiered combat equipment shouldn't be, and at high levels is simply not 'novelty'. It is progression, and that progression is made difficult by the necessity of vast wealth rather than skills. If spirit shields and nex armour were novelty items, then they sure as hell messed up somewhere because as someone mentioned earlier, the combination of the two, that would certainly cost over a bil, made you nigh-on invincible.

Secondly, the bosses that drop this mid-high level armour (remembering that level 80 is only ~1/6 the xp of 99,) require maxed/90+ stats and high-level gear to kill effectively, this does not make it balanced, it means you have to go far past the required level to unlock the means to access something that you have already technically met the requirements for.

To, go back to the skilling discussion earlier, RS has certainly become a game based, by vast majority, in combat, and the gaining of wealth both by and for combat in order to fund ostentatious outfits and high-rate skilling xp, and frankly I don't see how Jagex can recover it from its current state, (if they even realise how bad it is.)

  5. Is there any news on when SUOMI's planning to get 5b? I feel like him leaving it so long taken quite a punch out of the impact for when he does get it. When it was all a big build up I was excited to go see it happen, but now he's basically been there for the past month, I kind of don't care any more...

  6. He finds bugs through an in-depth knowledge of RS mechanics, and reports it to Jagex, that's why they're ok with him doing it. I don't know why people seem to think that he should be able to accomplish his feats using the same methods that we fail with, in fact I'm pretty sure doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result is one of the definitions of insanity. Without finding ingenious ways around the system, he wouldn't be able to do what he does, but did other people find out how to do it first? No, not even the people who made the system. So he clearly has a talent, and that's what's being celebrated.

  7. Same, Sy, and I think it's quite amusing that people think that for something to be analogous it has to follow an exact form. Teaching children how to write analogies like that is going to confuse them more than just explaining simple sentence structure, telling them what an analogy is, and then letting them fill the gaps through trial and error. Teaching kids how to write like that is like teaching them to ride a bike by showing them a diagram... #cosit'sananalogyyouseewhatIdidtherecosIwastalkingaboutthemandthenIusedonehahingeniousohnoIjusthavetoomuchtimeonmyhandsrightnowalsothisthreadisgoingabitOTalsomuggithatwasjustadeliberatelyalienatingformatofwritingananologyusewordsnexttimepleaseyesIknowthisisquitedifficulttoreadtoobutthat'skindoftheanalogyI'mmakingbywritingitthiswayalthoughwhilethismakesitdifficultyoursmadeitfullyimpossibleforthosethathadn'tlearntthatspecificarbitrarysetofrulesokifyougotthisfarhaveacookieIthinkI'mjustgoingtopresspostnow

  8. In that they don't show up an awful lot.

Crew for each region have become progressively rarer, a factor only exasperated by the fact of the further you get the more possible crew u can roll; in the case f Pincer apparently the jump is quite significant.

Nothing exacerbates me more than when people use that word wrong.

POP has contributed to me never wanting to make another account again. Runescape has received so much content over the years that if I started from scratch it would literally take me years to get to where I am again. If I somehow lost my account, I think would the hint and quit.

Well spotted, I got my exacerbate and exasperate muddled; always a sucker with those too.

Not sure if trolling or...? :P

  10. Trimmed Completionist would seem to be the logical progression... Either that or getting on with real life

He has to get a Comp cape before trim. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.

¤¤ SoDB - Slayers of Dangerous Beasts ¤¤

    Established 2006

    About Us

    Key Info: PvM, Skilling, Community

    Language: English

    Time Zones: All

    Clan-chat: SoDB

    Citadel: Tier 3

    Clan Avatar: EXP Boost

    Forum: http://s7.zetaboards.com/sodb

The Slayers of Dangerous Beasts started off in the summer of 2006 when four friends who were fighting the King Black Dragon came up with a way to bring monster hunters together. Since then, it has grown into a thriving community, with countless hours logged at every boss Runescape has to offer, from Nex to the Kalphite Queen. In recent years, we have spread our wings to encapsulate all aspects of the Runescape experience, and our members have a wealth of knowledge at their disposal to help support and enhance each other's gameplay. We are a growing community and are interested in anyone enthusiastic about growing with us!

    Requirements

SoDB has always been known for its inclusive and friendly environment, and we take great pride in nurturing enthusiastic monster-hunters. Most of our staff and older members are max combat and moving towards max/comp capes, and they are keen to share their top-level advice on all aspects on Runescape. However, our community has always focused on slaying dangerous beasts, so we do ask that new members meet our combat requirements. These aim to ensure that you will be getting as much as possible out of us, while not excluding those players that aren't yet near the gear/level requirements of other high-level clans. We have a lot to offer anyone that meets our requirements, and the higher-leveled you are, the more you will get out of us! If you want to talk to us about anything relating to our requirements or SoDB in general, our clan-chat is always open to guests, so pop in and talk to us. Failing that, feel free to message any of our staff members on these boards. :)

    Our requirements stand as such:

    Have at least 80+ Constitution/Melee/Range/Mage.

    70 Prayer (Piety and Grave-blessing)

    Barrows armour or better.

    Basic PvM supplies.

Join our forum here, and post an introduction.

Read and agree to our Code of Conduct, found on our forums here.

What we want you to be aiming for:

    Consistently improving your gear.

    Chaotic Weapon(s)

    Extremes/Overloads

    Turmoil

    Unicorn/Yak

Eventually, max combat, but a desire to raise your combat skills is the most important thing.

    What do we offer?

    A mature and friendly community.

Plenty of high-leveled, experienced Monster Hunters who are happy to chat and share their knowledge.

Events launched from both the forum and clan-chat.

    Teaching trips to all bosses.

An active forum. Our forum has been active since 2006 and is a large part of our community.

A friendly clan-chat in which you can come and find teams for anything you wish to do, or just hang out and chat.

A council of experienced members that discuss and vote on key issues.

Presently, our Citadel is at tier 3, and we have an avatar with plenty of avatar wardens. Resource gathering at the citadel is not required, but all help is appreciated.

    Key Rules

    (Full Code of Conduct here.)

You must be 13+ to join SoDB.

You must follow the rules of Jagex and SoDB.

Be respectful of other clan members, regardless of levels.

No trolling, flaming, scamming etc. (Be mature.)

    How to join

One you have read this thread and meet the requirements, head over to our forums here and post an introduction! Then come and join us in the clanchat, and once our staff have validated your admission, you will be added to the clan.

Thanks for reading! We hope to hear from you soon! :) We will try to respond as quickly as possible to any questions you have to ask, and will add them to our FAQ below.

    FAQ/Info

    How do I contact you?

So many ways! You can respond to this thread, message one of our staff-members on these or our forums, join the clan-chat, or pm a staff-member in-game.

    Do we allow multi-clanning?

We're a community, so we're happy to have people in our clan-chat as guests and even to contribute on our forums. However, to be ranked in the clan, we expect more of a commitment. Ranking depends on activity in the clan-chat, activities with the clan, and activity in the citadel. It is also helpful to be active on our offsite forum.

Can I join the forum without being in the clan?

Yes, the forum is currently open to everyone. However, only our members get second chances, so don't misbehave!

What if I don't meet all the requirements?

Our clan-chat is open to guests, and the better to get to know us, the better disposed towards you we will be! If you're only falling slightly short in a couple of areas, and are active enough in the clan-chat and the forum, this may qualify you to join us anyway :)

  12. It's better to use weapons that are 2h. Your max hit with the bronze dagger is greatly, greatly skewed by your 99 strength, and if you compared for instance vine whip versus godswords, you'd see that the godswords turn out a much higher max hit with abilities.

Thank god for that, I thought I'd just missed a rare opportunity for binding a primal dagger!

  13. Is there any reason he's not finishing Woodcutting? Effigies perhaps?

I bumped into him a little while back and he said he was planning to do Firemaking at Jadinkos so would be finishing off Woodcutting there.

Out of interest though, how long would it take Drumgun to get to 200m farming at this rate? He may be getting close in terms of other skills but he only has 22m farm xp.

  14. @ Anyone disrespecting RuneCrafter Robes -- What makes me mad, other than Jagex making them unusable in combat, is the fact that I spent time earning them! Now all the use they had isn't there anymore, and they're locking up slots, but destroying them means I wasted 4000 Great Orb Project RC Guild Tokens... Does anyone get why I feel crushed?

~D. V. "Am I the only one who didn't miss this point?" Devnull

(p.s.: Kim & Alg, I was stating my while-totally-ticked-off-and-skewed opinion when I left my last after-note... Nobody here needed to take personal offense to it... Oi...)

It appears that poor Dev has spent many hours on Runescape grinding out the same things over and over again, to the point that this has surpassed enjoyment, and become somewhat therapeutic. It is a pity that, in his current mental state, he is incapable of adapting to the changes that Jagex have provided F2P, through the provision of better armour and weapons.

The shattering of an illusion of enjoyment is hard to bear, and I wish Dev the best of luck in overcoming this abhorrent situation.

  15. Hoping the take-all and equip-all options for gravestones also get turned into right-click options. I can't imagine the interface staying open if you're currently under attack, which can make looting difficult in areas with aggressive NPCs.

    Knowing jagex they won't be

Then this defeats the purpose of this update, doesn't it? :P

Definitely up for the solo dg xp, I have real troubles getting on consistently and while I don't mind necessarily getting interrupted half-way through a floor when solo, I don't allow myself to join a team if I don't think I can dedicate the time needed to complete the entire dungeon, which is far too often :/

In terms of the grave thing though, I really hope Jagex aren't being as stupid as it sounds... Unless the interface stays open during combat (if that's even possible,) it's all-in-all a significantly worse system than the previous one. People (almost) only ever die in places frequented by aggressive monsters, otherwise they probably wouldn't have died. Even a right-click take-all would be more annoying than picking up the items you want, because you have no choice over which items you get.

I don't know really why they thought the old grave system was such a big problem, anyway. They just need to compensate for the release of big new bosses like they did with the QBD and it all works fine.

So I thought I'd break your computers and make you do a lot of scrolling because I'm kind and considerate like that :D It's taken a long time to get to this point, but I have finally upgraded my blue 90s cape into a patriotically-coloured Max Cape :D

I put on this outfit to max out, if you can tell me the significance of every single slot then cookies will be given

Finally, 14 levels later, I achieved the Max Cape :D :D

    screenshot1721.png

    screenshot1724.png

Liz kindly screenied the game-feed for me which I've editted slightly to fit :D (Who knew getting 14 99s took so long!?)

The last set of rocks - cooking - then went to get me my last ever completed Dahmaroc Statue! :D

    And so the party began!

    screenshot1747.png

Please read if you can, but be warned, there are a lot of pictures!

[hide=The Story of the prelude]After a year's hiatus, I returned to Runescape just over a year ago, rejoining my beloved comrades in SoDB, whose adventures I had heard so much about on the forums. I have come a long way since then.

My stats, after having got involved in a fair bit of F2P DGing (level 63-77):

    screenshot032zwo.jpg

My goal upon returning to RS was to get 99 Slayer, and to help me achieve that there was a new weapon available, and one has to have the best for Slayer

    screenshot078p.jpg

Slayer in hand, I took my new toy to the Dagannoth Kings, throwing myself back into my favourite RS boss!

    screenshot119k.jpg

Having spent a long time DKing, much of which was solo tribrid, I started teaching people how to do it for themselves! Among those that I taught were Rock, Maydb0rgo, Fergious, Logic and Quarra...

    screenshot164ut.jpg

    screenshot197d.jpg

But that didn't mean I didn't have time for group DKing ;)

    screenshot224d.jpg

And when I got my Yak, the loots got serious :D

    screenshot249a.jpg

    screenshot087u.png

Finally, after much Slayer, DK-related or otherwise, I finally achieved my goal :D

    screenshot173m.png

(True to fashion, I couldn't just have got one achievement at once.)

    screenshot188n.png

My main goal in RS being complete, I started looking around for other things to do! I started with barrows...

    screenshot280.png

Then tried my hand at TDs, a boss I'd always struggled with in the past!

    screenshot313.png

Eventually the loot from these adventures added up enough to allow me to buy the king of shields...

    screenshot331m.png

...with which I mercilessly slayed Bandos until he had given up all the treasures he had to offer!

    screenshot418.png

More loot meant more shiny gold pieces, and with that came buyables ;) Lo and behold I started skilling!

    screenshot475.png

In order to motivate myself for this, I decided that I would keep my skilling varied to evade boredom, and so I started completing my weekly Strange Rock sets.

    screenshot517f.png

But the skilling didn't blind me to the advantages of my past endeavours, and I managed to cash in on first-day prices at Ganodermic Beasts, totalling ~100m within the first 24h of their release!

    screenshot615.png

But Ganodermics became old news, and the skilling continued!

    screenshot903.png

With skills, came the ability to complete task sets! (Proof that I once had taskmaster, I can't see myself getting the Ghast familiar any time soon :P)

    screenshot1058.png

And of course, slaying the odd dangerous beast was never far from my thoughts.

    screenshot1079.png

But the motivation to skill stayed strong and my skills, thanks to the variety of xp provided by hunting for Strange Rocks, came to all be above level 90!

    screenshot1210.png

One boss I certainly haven't done enough of, but did at this point anxiously try for the first time, was Nex! If I remember correctly there were a fair few deaths in that room, but I managed to survive my first kill with my life in tact thanks to the expert guidance of Deb

    screenshot1212.png

Given that the Statue of Dahmaroc only rewarded me for my non-combat-related endeavours, I had to muster my own motivation to raise my non-combat skills. It seemed only fair, having spent so much time doting on my skills, that I levelled them each to 99 :)

    screenshot1332.png

    scaledphpserver406filen.gif

    scaledphpserver7filenam.png

    screenshot1409.png

The new combat skills came in very handy while trying out PKing with SoDB :D

    screenshot1540g.png

Though my clanmates still managed to best me when it came to Deathmatches ;)

    screenshot1573.png

But the Slayers of Dangerous Beasts stayed true to their name, and the DKs were always there to be stomped...

    screenshot1602.png

...as Lizard found out, when, in just over an hour and a half, we managed to grab almost every drop the DKs had to offer - this had to have been the most memorable trip I'd had since Black Axe first showed me the ropes all those years ago :D

    screenshot1642.png

Yesterday, I got my last 99 before maxing out - I just couldn't bare having skills so close to 99 with Dungeoneering still to be done!

    33to468.png

And as I write this, I am sitting on these stats... I have never been closer to a larger RS goal in my life!

    screenshot1691.png

    screenshot1692.png[/hide]

Story read or otherwise, I must address my clan, SoDB

To say I wouldn't be here without you is the greatest of understatements. I have been in SoDB for over five years, and I now watch new members coming in and being taught how to DK as I was so long ago! I have seen a lot of great members come and go, and it is easy to get nostalgic, but SoDB is still as great today as it always has been. I've quit and I've come back, and every time SoDB has been there and has been the reason I've kept playing all these years. Thank you all so much

Special thanks to everyone who came, really means a lot!

Also to Mizzo23 and Quester Rob, one of whom just happened to be there and the other who saw it in the feed and came to grats me specially, very nice of them ^.^

And to those who PMed, some were hilarious, the others just nice so thanks :)

I'd also like to give some credit to Renez for inspiration, and to RuneShark for the idea on how to get many levels at once with the Dahmaroc Statue!

United we stand. The Slayers of Dangerous Beasts.
