  1. Everyone gets awful FPS in Source games.

The problem with the OB engine is that games feel like molasses the moment you go under 90fps. When I'm playing CoD4 it runs really well all the way down to 60, mouse input is consistently smooth and it's a lot easier to make snapshots/flick to heads. In TF2, aiming feels garbage regardless of FPS for some reason. CSS doesn't have this awkward feeling to it.

Valve should port it to the L4D2 engine. L4D2 runs beautifully for me and mouse input is a lot more consistent.

  2. Or increase the cap? I know you'd be paying more but that sucks. Looks like a lot of people have caps, I don't have one. A lot of people around here go with the same ISP as the one I'm using specifically for this, since they use about 300GB bandwidth per month.

Not really possible here in the UK.

Most ISPs offer either a flat 40GB "home" plan OR you can get "unlimited", but the pitfalls of "unlimited" in the UK are as follows - hidden shaping, port throttling and ridiculous spikes in latency/network congestion at peak times of the day. Often it's much less hassle to get a capped but unthrottled/low contention plan than to go through with "unlimited".

  3. My daytime cap is 40 and I've used like.. 15GB of it. I host games/servers though I have unmetered upload, so it has a limited effect on my overall usage. If I host games/servers I don't notice much of a difference in the downstream.

Basically cut out streaming and you'll see a massive drop in usage.

  4. The thing that bugs me though, Is I NEVER got to do ANYTHING wild, So at almost 21 it really makes me feel like I haven't done anything with my life. Never been wild, I was a total dweeb, I haven't been drunk yet (didnt even drink until 18). I was such a stupid goodie-two shoes, looking back, I wasted my life so far and I dont want it to continue on like that. Think as if a 40 year old who got married at 16 and settled down straight away. thats how I feel. :|

Why do you feel like you HAVE to be wild, get drunk, be a "bad boy" and whatnot? So what, I'm 18 and I'm never going to drink ("oh you will eventually." NO, I won't.) You're 21, big whoop. You want to attract a girl? What do you think will attract one more? Being drunk out of your mind and throwing up on her, or drinking soda/water and having a conversation with her? You don't have to be "wild" to find someone. If anything, you'd probably end up hurting yourself.

I think the best thing to say is to stop trying to be something you're so obviously not and make the most of what you have.

  5. Anyone else got really bad FPS recently?

I was chasing a Medic and it dropped to 8 for literally no reason. Isn't the first time that's happened recently either...

Noticing more lag on tighter/badly-optimised maps (SAWMILL AND VIADUCT, I MEAN YOU) than usual, but my game stutters badly if it goes under 90fps for some reason...

  6. Heh, when I first watched anime I would have to pause an episode every so often while I got used to reading the subs. You get used to it after a bit but it still feels awkward (possibly due to the annoying styling that a lot of groups use).

  7. It seems, Tim, that it is very easy to blame everyone but yourself.

Depression is all about finding out what are and what aren't your problems. Once you've found your problems you can deal with them and then you'll be able to ignore all the s*** that isn't your problem.

  8. I miss being unemployed.

Why? I hate the feeling of not having any form of structure in life. What good is being broke and bored?

I was broke but I was never bored.

This is how I feel, I've had on and off jobs for 2 years yet it's a simple pleasure to just drift about and do as you please. I've been through various phases but it always comes back to a strange feeling of satisfaction in being unemployed.

    Broke, yes. Bored, f*** no.

  9. Clubbing sucks ass. Don't worry about it. You probably won't enjoy going to parties much either if you don't drink, but hey, it's a pretty big waste of time. It's like only enjoying very healthy food right out of the womb. Don't worry about it. In a sense, it's a gift.

    Beautifully put.

There's none of that amazing campus life, really. There's no need to put yourself in a situation you know you'll find uncomfortable just because it's what "normal" people do. These forums are full of people who'll tell you to force yourself but you seem pretty much like me in the sense that the new environment is already enough of a challenge, let alone the expectations of conforming to absolutely terrible things that are a waste of time and money. Think about the productive things you could do using the time other people waste on getting absolutely mashed and making idiots out of themselves.

I'm a loner by choice so it might be different for you, though as Omar said, it's hardly a bad thing if you don't enjoy it. It's just that people are judgemental c**ts who are influenced by awful television such as Skins et. al.

I once knew a pretty nice guy who turned into one of those judgemental c**ts after he went to university. We shared many decent conversations and then he decided he was going to suddenly have a social life and look down on anyone who doesn't. Probably calmed down now, but yeah. Uni changes people for the worse a lot of the time.
