  1. It's kinda easy to blame all server connectivity problems on DDoSing, when the problem exists on almost all servers for more than 3 months, with large lag/DC spikes daily at 0 to 2AM GMT.

The Drop however is certainly DDoSing.

Also, I hate this idea for a grave rework, it's far too punishable for every non-elite person who tries to (learn a) boss.

  2. Well, as per Osborne: there would be some lore attached, so it'll be more than just a dungeon and monsters. Although I hope it's more lore in the form of walls with readable sketches (like at Brimhaven) or hidden rooms with Dragonkin stuff (like the Mithril Cave), not just some pages that you get while killing the dragons.

  3. I hope we get some tidbits about the Dragonkin if the Adamant/Rune dragons win. If you see how many hidden rooms the Mithril Dragon cave has, the next steps up should have advanced Dragonkin technology.

EDIT: Osborne had more info, and the Dragonkin stuff would be there!

    This is from Mod Osborne:

"Just popping in to give you an idea of how The Guardians (Scrum 2) will be approaching these updates.

We'll be looking at how we can add to each suggestion's design. If there's room to fix related content or flesh out the design, then we'll take it. Also (and we cannot guarantee this, as development is a fickle, ever-changing world!) we hope to produce more than the two winning updates.

So, what is there to know about each option?

We like the Farming Timers, but we have to make sure they do not diminish the existing farming tools and spells. We'll probably do that by adding functionality to the existing farm-checkers, and make the Farming Timers something you have to work for.

We might take the opportunity to make some other farming-related changes and additional content. We'll see what happens!

The Slayer Belt is great, and we're more than happy to work on it. We're in discussions about whether crushers and hoovers like the charming imp will be included: initially we thought they were unrelated and we wanted to focus the project, but they might be a suitable addition for high-level players with slayer points to spend.

There are a few quirks to iron out. How do you deal with consumable slayer items like rock salt? We'll probably offer permanent, non-consumable versions of those items for slayer points. Slayer weapons will probably not be included. Otherwise, the design is pretty strong!

The Addy and Rune Dragons have been waiting for a long time! There's not much to note here, other than say that we will balance the dragons and drops carefully so that they are not obscenely overpowered. We think this would be an opportunity to visit the dragonkin staircase that leads below Brimhaven Dungeon, and maybe get in some dragonkin content.

The trimmed quest cape will be different from the design that was listed. We will be consulting the forum threads on the topic, several blog posts and the suggester themselves before we decide what goes on it! Our initial thinking is that there would not be tasks, but unabridged sagas, miniquests, some lore-related post-quest rewards and some books might be included.

Obviously there will be sparkly animations to underline the achievement!

Finally, the ability to amend Grand Exchange offers on the fly will do exactly that. It needs a bit of technical investigation, but we are very confident that there is a solution."
  4. I was only 14-15 years at the time, didn't know anything about how you could change those things. :p

Suddenly the laptop started making odd noises and crashed, and never started up again. The computer fixer of the family took a look at it and saw the motherboard was melted.

The lack of cooling probably was a big part of the problem.

Raising prices is fine, but raising value should come along with that.  Much respect to Jagex for keeping the game somewhat entertaining, but the value grab isn't like it was when they first decided to raise the membership price.

Even without getting into other games, isn't $10/month the cost of a Netflix subscription?

Sounds about right.  I don't have Netflix myself, but I do have Crunchyroll (about the same amount), Amazon Prime and Play Music.  Not to mention, there's tens of thousands of hours of free entertainment on YouTube.  There's also a lower barrier of entry to my platform; I can enjoy content from those providers on Linux without any hassle; Java's web plugin is so maligned that the entire NPAPI backend is to be ripped out of Chrome, and Linux got hit first.  Only way I could play the game was through a stupid workaround...which still weirds me out.

Not to go too much further, but I can enjoy all of the above on my mobile devices.  I'm too terrified to melt my laptop while playing 'Scape (and I nearly have before), so I'd only ever play it on my tower.  Limited device options don't make for an appealing case to pay up that much when there is just so much out there that my $10 could go towards.

My laptop motherboard litteraly melted when getting 99 hunter in 2007. :/

I don't know what kind of stuff Jagex is feeding my CPU through RuneScape.

  6. I don't think cutscenes. :p I hope that it are islands, specific to each adventurer as Assassin or Whaler, with a specific use. In the picture above we can see a dungeoneering resource dungeon, which probably relates to the dungeoneering adventurer. We will propably be able to use those islands after a specific voyage unlock, for an axtra resource dungeon, but maybe even new fishing spots, a little hunt area, some slayer monsters, and so one.

    At least, I hope!

Once again: about the rework of houses: the battlefields you can build in your citadel, those could be used maybe for customised houses? There's the building aspect already, with placing very different stuff in patterns you like, it gets stored and opens up when you like. It basiccally has the two modes already, just like a POH has at the moment, with the same functions. You just have to add other 'building materials' to it. :p

Almost all stuff is redundant, stupid overpowered or nonlogical stuff, or some patchnote stuff. I really wonder what goes through the heads of these people. <.<

I've been reading quite a lot of the proposed stuff and the only 'worthy' stuff are coming mostly from the die hard lore community, who wish to see fossil island, Rite of Passage and so on.

I sadly ought to agree on this. RuneLabs have now been out for close to 50 hours, and the general quality is way worse than I had hoped. The few exceptions I have found are almost all from high-level, very motivated players. You just need to read the first sentence of a suggestion to know if it is worth reading all of it in most cases.

Also, I see you mentioned Rite of Passage. I have no idea who submitted that idea...

Yeah, I followed the threads you've made in Future Updates and the Lore Forum quite a bit. :p It's one of the updates I want the most to finally come.

That said: I really don't know how ideas can be picked up again. There's 299 pages of ideas now. No one is going to read all that, because of most bogus stuff that's amongst it. Even with that general store-esque mechanism that Numismaster suggests, you probably only get ideas with votes on the first few and last few pages, as no one in their right mind will go through it all.

  8. Solo dungeons or vyrewatch corpses make sense to me, I don't know anything about sinkholes so I cannot say anything about that, but the last two just sound silly to me.

They probably won't count the 17k recorded kills I have from before Blisterwood came out. :c
