I haven't read all the replies, but I assume I'm not the only one saying this.
I would never sell my account.
Not just on account of the time spent, but because there's a lot of memories attached. From the time I bumped into a friends rl g/f in the Draynor bank, getting lured out of a whip, buying my first dragon axe and getting whitescreened,then to log in to see a handle in my invent and someone running off yelling 'OMFG' to Lady Henious threatening to kick me from chat if I didn't shut up and finish Desert Treasure, getting Quest Cape the first time, the minor breakdown I had over MEP2, hitting my first 99, my first 5mil plus death, many hours of laughs in clan chats, getting to know new people and making some new friends through the game. Then there's discovering workmates of my fiancee also played and wasting hours sharing laughs, sob stories, advice and mocking n00bs.
Not to mention joining the same clan as my fiancee and the two of screeching at each other "Attack!" "cover me!" "get the ancienter!" "You've been poisoned!" "OMFG I'M ABOUT TO DIE!"
Memories can't be paid for and even though it's 'just a game' and 'just pixels' I've got a bunch of memories from time I would've spent either watching TV or doing housework.
Those are just some of the reasons I wouldn't trade my account for anything less than a brand new house fully paid for. And if someone actually offered me that, I wouldn't take them seriously anyways.

I'm not all that attached to my RS2 levels since most of them were obtained while watching TV or doing homework (ain't nothing wrong with alt-tab-training). Don't have any spectacular items except for my Santa hat, which stays in my bank 340 days of the year.
That said, I would gladly surrender my account (stats) for a nice upright piano. Then I'll just play that instead of RuneScape.
I've never heard of alt tab training... With such a huge brain I am extremely intrigued.
You sure your not breaking some rule with that?

I would buy one, but I doubt there'll be an easy way for me to do so. And for that reason, I probably won't.

My account has value to me beyond money. So yeah, I wouldn't sell it for any price.

I agree with 3rkid. Just because your price might be high certainly doesn't mean you don't have one. And I don't mind if you want to wait a few years so you can get the max amount of enjoyment out of your account before you sell it because it certainly won't feel priceless forever.

Runescapew44 asked Mod MMG, it was an insane amount of hours Rsw44 had on his account.
That was 3 months ago(that was ~6700 hours back then) I'm sure I'm well over 7000 hours now :oops: They do plan to make total play time viewable to everyone soon so everyone can know then :P
But as for how much I'd sell my account for I don't think I would but you never know what you'll do if you get offered something like 10 grand.

Impressive stats!!!!! you should train your hunter though because compared to your other stats its quite low at 67 lol. I suggest catching chimis but i'm no expert at 55 hunting.
p.s. a year of pure runescape is scary..... i hope you started your account the very first day because if you spent that much time in anything less than that amount there's got to be something wrong lol.

Don't get me wrong, There was something about runescape that made aimless clicking seem enjoyable. Goals you set seem to give motivation for playing the game, even when you can admit that your bored. Something I found out that proved to be interesting is that most people who play enjoy setting these goals(85 mining, slayer, 91 runecraft, maxed combat), but once they reach that level, they soon find that sitting in a room fighting abyssal demons all day, or hopping server clicking on a bright blue rock is almost as boring as getting to that skill in the first place.
Some day, possibly in the near future, many of you will move on to bigger and better things. You most likely won't regret playing the game, as I don't completely. One of my biggest regrets is allowing this game to take up so much of my personal time. Although I was pretty good about still allowing time for other things I loved, I feel that if I would have put half as much time as I spent playing runescape into other things that interested me, such as computers in general, work, preparing myself for college, spending more time with my family...etc.
It is my honest opinion that MMORPG's like runescape and world of warcraft are ruining the youth of today, especially college students. Kids are skipping classes, not studying for tests, not completing schoolwork just to complete repetitive tasks on a video game that ultimately will only have negative consequences on their life in the long run.
It's sad to see smart kids throw away their futures over something so minuscule, so insignificant. I urge all of you to rethink where you want to be in a the next 5 years. How successful you want to be, how much money you want to earn, what type of job you want to have, do you want to have a family, and many other important decisions. Now ask yourself this: Is Runescape going to help you get there?
Many people say they would never sell their account. Not for anything. It's very sad that some people's most prized possessions are something that they don't even actually own. Most people will become slightly hostile after reading this, saying things like "People have control over their actions, if runescape was really a problem, they would be able to commit to their lives"...but that argument is undermined by all the post saying that people have devoted too many hours to this character to let it go.
I will say I am guilty of the same thing. I spent many hours getting my character to where it is now. And I met many interesting people who's company I've enjoyed greatly. But once you finally do realize that nothing good will ever come out of spending so many hours on this game, and you will understand that you could be a different, better person had you spent that time doing more productive.
I'm responding to both of your posts even tho I didn't quote the first...but while you bring up many very good points, you don't seem to realize that the same could be said for anything in life that's not a necessity. Time spent on Rs is no different than time spent at the movies with friends or sitting down playing cards.
Yes, there is a difference. Time spent at the movies or sitting down playing cards is socializing with real people. Time spent alone on RuneScape isn't socializing and slowly crumbles your social skills and confidence.
Really? Mine have both skyrocketed in my time on Runescape. I could be the only one, but maybe not.

some time ago i just found out how dear it was (my account jenove was just banned for somebogus RWT charge which I am completly innocent of.) and so now i have quit runescape till jan 2010 when i can appeal again (Yes i received the curesed auto response. as a mattoer of fact I found out I was on the auto response because i apeallled saying only LOL and they said the same thing.) R.I.P. Jenove

in the section of the quest guide where it lists the steps on how to disable the subermarine with the use the wrench on the panel to open it etc. it is missing a step. before tape the ends together you have to "use wire on opened panel" or some variation of that text.

Well looking at some of the accounts on the website tip.it is currently advertising, an account with same cb with 200 total lower and 80m less is goin for 750$....so i'd say around 950 :thumbsup:

I'd have to be named the world leader and everyone would have to bow and pray
to me for 30 minutes a day or they would be struck down.
I would require the entire area of Washington D.C for my castle kingdom with
the latest in anti-missile defense systems and bio weapon containment systems
and protocols.
I would also require a 100% real light saber signed by the entire Jagex team.
In addition to all of this you would have to be able to get me a meeting with God
so I could talk with him about plans for my new world. After this chat, god being
furious with me of course, I would prepare for swarms, asteroids and all sorts of
wrath god would put upon us because of me.
I also would require the best computer mouse in the entire world, crafted from
pure diamond and gold leaf.

This is weird... apparently there were player owned houses in the past lol. these original updates are quite cool. wish we got updates so huge now... I believe there was a post about what to do with username hoggers or something and that last post seems like it could work if implemented again.
Item banks and Rune items now in!

The bank has been upgraded so you can now store any item in the bank not just gold. You can keep spare weapons, gems, and any other items you may want to store. You can store up to 48 different items, with a maximum limit of 16 million items per stack.
Runite items have been added to the game! Runite is the most powerful metal in the game.You can buy rune weapons and rune armour from the champions guild. There is an extra item only available as a rare monster drop from a particularly strong monster!
The player owned houses have now been removed. This is because since they were original planned runescape has become much more popular and there is nowhere near enough to go around. Instead the 2 updates above have been included to compensate. The item bank lets anyone store the items they want to, and the runite items are an alternative for people to spend the money they have been saving on.

Andrew announced today in Irc that he will deleting unused accounts in a couple of days time.
Andrew will be deleting any accounts which haven't been used for 60 days and are less then 30 minutes old and are holding less than 500 gp (in either gold ot objects)
Any account that is over 30 minutes old, or holding more than 500 gp (in either gold , or objects) will not be erased.

oh well... its too bad the picture didn't paste in properly, the old runescape trade windows were quite neat. If one looked i bet you could find some hilarious posts though... i only checked the very first page avaliable.

Hi so I haven't played in a while but I noticed that there was this new (sp) and (or) things. Anyway it seems as if you can make a dragon full helm (sp) but there isn't that item listed in the item list. Just thought I'd point that out!
