  1. Hi Neohero1972,

Thank you for your submission. :)

Would you happen to have a screenshot of the drop?

That way we can add it to the site immediately.

    Thanks,

    ~Julie

    Hi

No, I'm sorry, but I didn't managed to take a screenshot ! - I'm aware that I should do this, however, there is no difference in the description of a dead Vyrelord/lady so a screenshot, in this case, wouldn't really prove anything.

  2. Next Quest: Attach Flail to Polearm = Super dual-headed spear/flail thing :)

Yahh, this would correct this mess with having both a flail and blisterwoode items and "justify" the introduction of the blisterwood weapons.

Also a little annoying how there are so many different kinds of corpse.

I also find this quite annoying as they fill up my bankspace - I choose to believe that it is some kind of bug, because anything else would just be stupid.

  3. Hi

    Thank you all for replying.

As I have written in a previous post I have switched from dragon plate + legs + boots to Black Dragonhide, this have had a positive impact on my performance as Vanstrom don't seem to be that strong in magic.

I also pray against melee during the fight and this really helps reducing the damage Vanstrom deals.

Regarding the Bloodvelds then I can say that I'm absolutely sure that if I attack one (to get its attention) and then switching to the other one then the first one will switch its focus back to Vanstrom in order to heal him.

Anyway, I'll give Vanstrom a few more chances to submit, before I consider to raise my stats and giving him another go.

Ps. I'll also try to range him with the stakes to see if I do any better this way.

  4. Hi

Thank you all for your valuable replies - they renewed my spirit and I feel like giving Vanstrom a few more tries to submit to my will.

    EDIT:

I have had better results by switching to Black Dragonhide armor and praying against melee - still can't defeat him though...

I also managed to get myself killed and now I'm a little confused whether or not I have to purchase a new gravestone in order to prolong the time I have to get back to retrieve lost equipment the next time I get defeated by Vanstrom.

Tip.it's guide about gravestones is a bit vague on this subject to say the least.

  5. Hi

I'm doing the Branches of Darkmeyer quest and I have a REALLY hard time with defeating Vanstrom Klause, so I need some advise to get me through this boss fight as I have tried about eight times with the same result (which is me teleporting out to save my dear life !).

    My setup is:

    Helm of Neitiznot

    Dragon plate

    Dragon legs

    Dragon boots

    Obsidian cape

    Gloves barrows

    and Amulet of Glory

As I'm very poor I don't have any spare cash to purchase new armor and my summoning skill is not high enough to get a War Tortoise (which doesn't seem to matter anyway !)

My main problem is the massive drain of constitution caused by Vanstrom's speed of attack - I have a hard time fighting him while trying to eat to stay alive.

I also have a problem with killing the two bloodvelds - one of them always seem to reach Vanstrom before I can kill it and as a consequence of that I'm back to square one except for the fact that I'm now low on both food and Constitution while Vanstrom is fresh and fit for fighting !

So, does anyone have any advise for me which will enable me to survive and kill Vanstrom Klause ?

  6. Hi

I went on a trip to Moonclan island to hunt my last penguin for this week, while I was there I decided to waste some game time by playing Livid Farm.

I switched my spellbook to Lunar magic, but now I can't remember how to switch it back again to the normal spellbook ! (really embarassing) - I thought that all I needed to do was to pray at a normal altar to make the switch, but this don't seem to work.

I have looked in the guide about Magic, but the answer seems to elude me.

  7. Every time you add more unfermented wines to the stack in your bank, the fermenting timer resets.

Are you sure about that ? - because I'm not !

Even if you're right, then I don't think he'll be able to avoid that some of the unfermented wines will start to ferment. and if he logs on before the bonus weekend then all his efforts will be in vain as the fermenting timer will start.

All in all I don't think it is worth the trouble and the potential risk of ruin it by logging on before the weekend.

  8. Yep. If you do 6 hours of making unfermented wines without letting it ferment and log in on xpweekend you should get roughly 13m cooking experience instantly, and still have the full 10 hours to do whatever else you had planned... Good fight cooking cape.

This can't be done - as far as I know !

If you add grapes to a jug of water it will still ferment when you bank it and you get the experience whenever the jug of fermenting wine has finished with fermenting.

Just log out before they ferment. They will finish fermenting when you log back in.

I'm sorry, but unless they have changed the behavior of how this fermenting works I still don't get it !

You won't even be able to make 30 before the first one has finished with fermenting in you bank and given you the experience.

  9. Yep. If you do 6 hours of making unfermented wines without letting it ferment and log in on xpweekend you should get roughly 13m cooking experience instantly, and still have the full 10 hours to do whatever else you had planned... Good fight cooking cape.

  10. What I don't get is how blisterwood weapons work with the whole vyrewatch mind-reading thing though. I haven't done the latest quest, but the point of hte flail was that it was so epically unpredictable it was bound to hurt them in a way they didn't expect: how does the player use stakes: shut their eyes and throw? Magic, with leaving your mind blank to cast? A polearm, with just being really bad at using the weapon?

Vampyre-kryptonite seems to be the explanation the quest gives (One vyre speculates that the tree was blessed in some way). It probably blocks the vyre's mind-reading ability, and burning vyre corpses probably improves whatever divine power it has. Or something like that.

Yes, I think your assumptions are correct. This is also why I think that one of the quest rewards should have given the player an ability to make an upgraded Flail of Ivandis instead of new weapons as this would have giveng a coherence between this new quest and the older ones.

Rant: I sense that it's not the same developers who have made this quest as the ones who made the previous parts - may I suggest that they read up on the questline so far... - had they done this we most likely wouldn't have had these new weapons.

  11. One wonders what to do with the 100 Guthix Balance and 25 Flails he stored <_<

It was nice to introduce these new weapons but a bit lame to leave the flail, which we've been constantly upgrading, as kind of redundant.

It can still cast Bloom, though, but this is rendered pointless with the Ouroboros pouch.

    UGH.

Well, hold your horses for a minute !!!

I'll agree that the the flail is pointless to have if you only use it for filling a druid pouch, but it can still be used for getting Mort Myre Fungi, which is used when making Super Enery potions.

IMO, Jagex should have upgraded the Flail of Ivandis even further instead of making these new Blisterwood weapons !

  12. I find no issue with the shortcuts.

Afterall neither area they enter un-shortcutted is of extreme use.

Bout the only reason to go into the swamp itself is for penguins and that you can just jump through a fairy ring.

What about crafting Blood Runes - wouldn't it be pretty annoying to end up in Mort'ton when you intended to runecraft some Blood runes just because you've forgot toggle the switch.

I'll go as far as to agree with you that on a daily basis it won't have a huge impact, but that's just about as far as I can stretch myself.

  13. I think the shortcuts are nice and you can still set them back at the pillar so it is not that difficult and if you can't remember just check the pillar before you go trough.

Yes, but it would have been nice if one didn't had to check the shortcut settings - that's just my only problem with it.

Other than that minor issue I'm also extremely satisfied with these new shortcuts - especially the one leading to Mort'ton.

  14. Hi

I have finally managed to unlock the rewards I was seeking from the Temple Trekking mini-game only to discover that two of them seem to be a bit cumbersome to use !

    The rewards:

Zachory: shortcut to Mort'ton through the trapdoor behind the pub in Canifis

    Jayene: the Ouroboros pouch

100 total levels: shortcut to the nature grotto

The two rewards which I find cumbersome to use is the shortcuts as I feel they restrict my freedom a little, because now I have to remember whether or not I have set for example the nature grotto shortcut correct when I go through the gate into Mort Myre - I could end up at the nature grotto even if I only wanted to pass though the gate !

The exact same issue applies to the Canifis => Mort'ton shortcut - the potential problem are for those who craft Blood Runes.

I'm asking myself whether or not it would have been that hard for Jagex to have made some sort of portal (one by the gate to Mort Myre and one down in the basement of the pub) we could have walked through and ended up the place we have unlocked instead of this toggling on/off

    So I'm a bit dissapointed.

What do the rest of you think ?

Ps. I find the Ouroboros Pouch a really nice thing to have, it is too cheap and too easy to obtain when one looks at its usefulness - Jagex did a good job on this one !

  15.

The free version is how they attract new players. Nobody starts as a member, and nobody is going to think "Hm, the free version is missing some things, I think I'll go buy membership", they'll think "Hm, the free version is missing some things, I think I'll go try World of Warcraft". They could give free players some of the things that are obsolete in members, and sure, that means they'll stay free longer, but if they stay longer, chances are they'll be more likely to want to pay for it down the line.

    Hi

I honestly don't see your point - there is already enough content to keep a F2P going for hours, days and months and adding more content won't increase the number of members.

What will increase the number of members is if Jagex start to do something about the bot population and revise their view on their customers (treat their customers in a decent manner).

  16. what if the 6 characters from Temple Trekking helped you in the quest? they have a vested interest in that region and by the time you get them all to 99 you could have formed some sort of emotional attachment to them meaning you might actually care if they get killed...

needless to say, if you've never done Temple Trekking they will all be level 1 and get owned instantly, whereas the quest would be much easier if you'd taken the time to help them all train to level 99...

    Hi

I have actually also thought of this too - as you say the characters have an interest in the region and one does tend to get abit emotionally atteched to the characters while trying to level them up.

However, I see the problem for players who don't play Temple Trekking as they, as you have said, will have a party of level one characters.

If Jagex made a quest like this then they would be spammed by players whinning about the unfairness in that they have to play a mini-game (which they don't want to) in order to be able to solve the quest easy.

But none the less I think it is a good idea.

Also no way that smiddi, jayene and dean would be used. The lore behind them is that they are escaping burgh de rott with your help.

Pazuzu, Zachory and Rolayne on the other hand may be as they are going down there to help the fight.

Can I trade Zachory in for either Jayenne or Dean? Then I'd be happy. Rolayne's a badass [bleep], and Pazuzu's awesome, but I hate Zachory.

    Hi

I can only agree with you, Zachory definitely needs to back to one of the Wizard Towers to brush off his magic skills - I guess he must have slept when the older wizards were teaching "How to easily and effective defeat a ghast."

The lore would suit this idea very well, as it prevent us from having a HUGE party to keep track on - only four will make up the party, which is, IMO, just about enough to keep things nice and neat.

  19. I predict that the quest will consist of us teaming up with one of the signature heroes. We then infiltrate Darkmeyer, which is an instance area you can't visit otherwise. We then find a tree, cut off a branch or something, then we fight a ridiculously overpowered "pet" of Drakan. We kill it, return to Burgh de Rott and the quest is over.

Yahh, that's just about sums the quest up I think !
