  1. What even is "normal"?

You know that "little voice" in your head that tells you that something is morally objectionable to you, and you shouldn't do it because it will make you feel terrible for doing it later, so you listen to it, and don't do whatever it is that you would otherwise find morally objectionable?

That's "normal". That's what, in the end, makes you behave in a manner that is suitable and acceptable to the other members of your society. It's called a conscience.

It's not a matter of good or evil -- but it is the difference between human and animal-like behaviour. An animal has no conscience, it merely does what it does. A human has reason. A human has the ability to discern what, in the long run, is the best course of action for them, and the other people around them. They listen to that voice and do whatever needs to be done to consider the well-being of the whole.

Predators either don't hear that "voice", or refuse to listen to it, or don't feel terrible about it afterwards ... or all of the above. As such, they commit the unconscionable without dread or concern for others.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. That assumes that EVERYONE has the same standards of morality, which is frankly a load of crap - you learn your morals from the society you grow up in, morals are not with us from birth, they are learned.

As an anecdote: In Formula 1 racing there's a huge scandal about bribery just now. A lot of the middle eastern parties involved are asking "What's the big deal, I paid him to do something I needed done" While other Western countries are up in arms about it. That's because in some countries bribery is seen as perfectly acceptable, in other countries, it's intolerable. That's different cultures.

There's also the case of the predator's that hear that voice, do that deed and then feel guilty about it afterwards. This man claims to have been convicted in the end for sending the pictures of a few teens, over a quarter of a century ago. He did his time and from his replies he clearly feels remorse and guilt about actions which at the time he THOUGHT were going to be minor or inconsequential. I don't know if you've ever made a mistake in your life, where you thought what you did was okay, but then all of a sudden someone turns around and hounds you like you've just committed a haenous crime; pretty suddenly it can feel like you against the world.

Personally think Jagex's handling of this siuation was poor. There was no need to humiliate a man for something that happened 25 years ago, it could just as easily have been taken care of quietly.

  2. It's like getting a shot of whiskey, then someone comes along and pours half a pint of lemonade into it for free.

I appreciate Jagex trying to help us but clan support seems to just be watering the clan world down in an attempt to improve it.

I agree, but obviously the better clans will stand out more regardless. There's no questioning that. In any future tournaments like the Jagex Cup, you'll rarely NEVER see RSB clans win.

    fixed :)

  3. I got fingered once but that was just for fun and I didn't take it personally because

I knew it was just a gesture that doesn't mean anything.

    lolololololol

this thread is about over now haha

I personally don't take offense to it, and use it jokingly myself when I pass by my friends at random. it's just a stupid gesture. it doesn't hurt anyone. to derive offense from a geometric shape is proof of egotisticalism.

I just made up a word.

I like your word and think I may start using it. Good job, well done

  4. I despise royalty with an unbridled passion. Wont be watching; and people are saying this is bringing in millions to the economy..... Yea, but we're losing millions at the same time because everyone has a day off work.

Wrong. Thee is no legal requirement for business' to give employees the day off or to stop trading. They themselves are allowed to choose whether to let their employees have the day off, watch the wedding or have a normal day of trading.

and I know for a fact that the majority of businesses are. A lot of trade is going to be needlessly lost.

Can you quote me the statistics of this fact? From my own knowledge (Of working myself and having two parents and a brother who work) 3/4 of business's are actually staying open. My Mum would probably be at work as well if she didn't already have Fridays off. I know of very few business' which are closing. Granted, many schools and universities are closing for the day, but that doesn't harm the economy to a large extent, and may even be beneficial due to many children pumping money in during the day.

Not counting the money the major TV companies are getting for broadcasting around the world as well as the many tourists coming in for the day, as well as the numerous souvenirs sold by most shops, there has been a very large boost to the economy.

sorry, you totally mis understood - I'm not denying that money will be brought into the economy via the wedding - it will, and probably more so than usual - but we'd still make more if all business continued as normal. I don't see why anything has to stop for it.

So what is the point of statutory holidays then?

In my eyes they are pointless.

  7. America and China aren't weak, but I'd hardly say they were 'running the show' to the extent they'd like.

I imagine the notion of a country being a 'super power' will be all but irrelevant by 2030. Every single country will be reliant on multiple other nations. Fact is this is happening right now, but people would rather stick their fingers in their ears and pretend it wasn't because they can't handle not being "Number 1". Don't worry I'm sure by 2300 People will be having a Mars > Earth discussion on the Uber-Awesome-Death-Net, hell if they have biological immortality mastered in the next 50 to 100 years some of us might be around to take part in it.

  9. 1. it still has market prices listed (although they may not be accurate)

    2. you can sell stuff in the ge, you are just asking too much

    3. you can buy stuff in the ge, you are just offering too little

btw no one takes your economic analysis seriously when you spell it "economy"

    Spelling nazis...they have arrived.

I invoke Godwin's law, hence you are wrong [/thread]

  10. Again, Prince William and Kate [cabbage] is just [cabbage]. Don´t see why they made a pharagraph in the BTS about them two. Sure they are the british royal couple, but WTF? Why a pharagraph.

Perhaps because the monarchy is a massive part of the British national identity and it is a massive deal for the 2nd in line to the throne to be getting married

    no it's not.

Overall I think this content's pretty crap. Appreciate the clan stuff though, as long as it doesn't crash and burn in true Jagex style.

Since the developer is getting paid i guess that money takes the sting away from the "time wasted" lol. And it is likely clan camp won't be used by serious clans, maybe jagexs is just trying to make a more friendly introduction into the clan world. Or they are out of touch with the real clan world, i don't know i am not a part of either.

yea you're out of touch, serious clans are likely to use it because of the rankings. The deciding factor on how popular it actually is will probably be if it's dangerous or not.

  11. If we had better levels. A lot of our members don't like pking because we don't have enough high levels to hold our own against a standard med sized clan, a lot of our high levels know this too, so they wont pk either, which puts us at an even greater disadvantage. We're an all levels clan, so that's a self imposed handicap, but I've seen us come a very long way since we started. Confident we'll be regularly pking sometime in the not too distant future.

  12. 99 att + 99 str + 99 def + 99hp + 1 prayer + rapier @ 113 combat is the best build.

your build sounds okay, maybe 85 def + 1 more combat level would be worth it but? Remember - strength is helluva overrated. I keep fighting guys with 99 att + str but only 75-85 def and I just go through them, even though I only use the trusty whip and they might pull a rapier or vls on me :P

  13. If someone said "I'll count" and ive not worked with them before I'd question how they'd count rather than illogical assume a specific form of counting.

But if you assumed a countdown surely you would of automatically realised u were wrong when he went 1,2 opposed to 3,2.

Then given it was ur mistake for expecting a go surely then on the second try it is logical to assume they expect you to of learnt they mean for u to pull on 3?

Given the fact that you're 65 dungeoneering, your attempt at a logical insult towards me is null since you grew up with the people you're trying to defend... you also can't 'ask them' because the majority like to think they're pros and start counting immediately. Your last comment works the other way as well.

Given the fact you have 95 DG, I'm assuming you also had 65 DG at one point too, don't forget your roots. And tbh, just assuming everyone is going to countdown the same way as you is pretty stupid. You should really have clarified before starting.

  14. I was lagging like a mofo earlier today :S No idea why, had a ping of 40ish too, but it wouldn't stop :/ It's all better now but HUZZAH :D

  15. I just like to complain about everything. People know this by now, but if something really pisses me off then I'm much more formal in my delivery of the said complaints. Never been in a position to be questioned; that suits me fine.

  16. thats fair too but generally speaking if you have a higher pull and stay longer the quality of the ac should be better.

that said you don't want one clan ot be able to take the number 1 spot just by ACing fights. Think a set bonus for a set amount of time might be a good idea.
