  1. I'd apply, but I have a pretty much nil chance of getting in due to lack of posts and such. Ah well. That, and with that much power, I'd probably hyperventilate or something.
  2. Wait... what's the argument about now? :?
  3. Picking fights on the internet? Jeez wouldn't want to mess with you IRL  Runescape is full of idiots. If you can't mentally ignore people, the ignore list works a charm. As a general rule, it isn't worth arguing with an idiot, it just drops you to their level half the time. "Never argue with an idiot, they'll just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience." I forget who quoted that, but it fits perfectly here.
  4. =D> Seriously, isn't it annoying when the adults blame the kids for being idiots, then go off and prove that they themselves are idiots? So, the question that comes out of this is: Is a kid who gets called an idiot by an adult who really IS an idiot, is the kid still an idiot, or does the judgment of the idiot reverse itself?
  5. I'm not saying my age, but I will say that I would be in the "younger" age category. I haven't really had any issues with idiots on Runescape so far, mainly because I forget to turn public chat back on after a trip to the World 2 GE. My biggest problem was with someone who was cursing at my brother. Anyways, I have realized a few things as I have lived my life: 1. Teenage males, for the majority, are complete and total jerks/idiots/whatever. Thank God I'm part of the mature minority. 2. Teenage males are the people most likely to be playing violence-based video games, such as Halo, Call of Duty, even Runescape(although Runescape is a bit milder.) Thus, concluding logically, most of Runescape is going to be made up of idiots/jerks/{insert derogatory term for stupid and/or annoying here}. It also bothers me that women on Runescape get treated.... badly for lack of a better word. Yes, I'm a guy, and I'm one of the (current) minority who believes that chivalry isn't dead, it's just less violent. And since it's less violent, guys have less incentive to accept it, and the rest is... well, not history, because it's happening now. Also, this should probably be shifted to the "Player Behavior" sticky topic.
  6. Ah, humor. Okay then. Not bloodthirsty... anti-pixel thirsty, maybe. :D
  7. [hide=reply stack] =D> Way to go. Kids, in general and on average, aren't really that dull/thick/whatever. They just don't know the difference between a lie and the truth. I know, that was just a summarization. The good part is yet to come. Scamming is lying. There, it's out there. Even if you think it's not, scamming IS LYING. Lying, in and of itself, is practicing deceitful behavior. So stretching the truth to get a little bit ahead is just as cruel and dishonest as blatantly lying. I would write more, but a lot of what I would write would be true or untrue based on your religion. So, I'll write a "politically correct" version.Since being "politically correct" means phrasing things in terms of the basic evolutionary theory, I'll do that too. Since we, technically, evolved from rocks, there should be no morals at all. But humanity has evolved to a point where ethics and morals have developed. These ethics and morals (not murdering, NOT LYING, not injuring a fellow human, etc.) are all based off of helping our fellow man and continuing to keep the human race in existence. So, by defying the ethics of lying by scamming another, you are essentially wanting to halt the progress of the evolution of that person's bloodline's section of the human race. Now, if you believe that ethics and morals come from somewhere else than continuing to keep the human race in existence, then you should know that lying is just plain wrong and DON'T DO IT. By essentially removing scamming almost entirely with the trade limits and the GE, Jagex has made defying the moral law of honesty in the digital world they created less possible. And how is that BAD....? Agreed. Kids are not "stupid" or "dumb" or whatever. They just lack experience. I started playing this game below 13 too, and I usually spoke MUCH BETTER English (though of course not perfect) than some idiots (hint, hint!). I'm speaking the truth that I never got scammed. But that's probably because the time I started Runescape, jagex already had put in lots of measures to stop scamming. I remember an idiot who pretended to be my friend but his ulterior motive was to get my pass to hack my account. LOL. What a stupid scam. I mean he said directly "come on, please tell me your pass". I'll rofl if anyone fell for that. [/hide] I got scammed once or twice due to lack of experience. Believe me, it's not fun knowing some guy just took your account because you didn't know that Jagex would let you type your password backwards. :( Also, at the guy deliberately asking for you password.
  8. I haven't finished reading it yet, but these were my first 2 reactions when I started: 1.     2. You make some decent points here, and know how to add a bit of humor. You could probably find a job as a pro speaker if you're not afraid of heights.... Let's hope the rest of it is just as good. EDIT: Afraid of heights, what the junk? How'd THAT get in there? I meant fear of speaking in front of crowds... Also, finished reading and have one thing to say: Other than some of the (slightly offensive) language being overused, that was a rather good piece of literature.

  10. I don't completely agree that IQ means nothing, but I do agree that it in no way fully measures intelligence. (A bit ironic since IQ stands for "Intelligence Quotient"...) And what you said about PKers, is... well..... a bit of a violent way of putting it. :o They're people who enjoy going against other people in a more obvious and physical manner than skilling competition, which mostly consists of checking the high scores every so often. They like a bit more of a physical and strategic fight. And yes, PKing IS a strategic competition. Just look at pures, semi-pures, mains specifically constructed for PvP, etc. Anyways, yeah, it's a bad idea to go around asking random people to do the retribution trick with you. D claws anyone? And it is a better idea to do the retribution trick with a trusted friend, seeing as how the people you would be doing it with probably don't want to, as you mentioned. Also, do you have an issue with PKers or something? Because I wouldn't exactly describe "aggressive back-stabbing psychopaths who want little more than to gut you and take your loot" as an endearing term. You made a good point, props to you. =D> And I agree that a higher IQ doesn't make you any better than anyone else, and the same goes for huge muscles, strategic genius, etc. Also, all people ARE NOT created equal, but they ARE created with equal rights. You have just as much right to a job as the homeless guy on the street, you just may have specific advantages toward getting a certain job. (Example: being a naturally talented artist will probably help you better towards getting a job at an art studio than having a great memory.) True, we can all become better at just about everything, but there is a point where we can't get any better without natural talent or an act of God. Fear also plays a part in the point of no advance.(Example: I can practice speaking all I want, I'm still going to be afraid of getting up in front of people and making a fool of myself.) I really have nothing more to say about this post, other than good job on making a worthwhile point.
  11. Law tablets are good. But if you don't want to play GOP, then use a dueling ring to Castle Wars, get essences, talisman/tiara, another dueling ring if necessary, and 1 normal log. Take the Balloon Network to Entrana, make your law runes, then teleport back to Castle Wars and repeat.
  12. ...That's weird. I think that Jagex messed with the trees or something, because I was attacked by that tree as well... However, I have found a new spot for those needing to do this clue. It works just as well, you just have to be sure to keep away and/or annihilate any vampires.
  13. Actually, he wasn't in the right place. Go a little more eastwards, there will be a place that look almost identical to where you were. Look at the location of the transportation sign in both your picture and the one that Tip.It has showing you where to go. Yeah, they need to mark that spot or something so that this doesn't happen. -.-
  14. From what I've seen and heard, there are pretty much 4 types of PKer. 1. The people who PK for profit, This would be the person assigned as your target. They will run if they can't make a profit off of a kill. 2. The honour PKers. These people, such as yourself, do not mind dying to a superior and PK because... well, it's fun for you, it lets out your anger, etc. 3. The people who you get as a target and then just run around the Wilderness, no matter who you are or what you say, until you get too annoyed and log out. For some reason, they consider it fun to aggravate others. 4. The type of PKer, such as myself, that are a mix of the three. I do PK for profit (sometimes), and will do what I can to keep myself from death. However, if I do die, then I see it as dying to a superior, and send my killer a message saying "Thank you for making it a good fight." Seriously. Oh, and if someone starts acting like a jerk while attacking me (example: calling me various obscene names...) I will run just to make his day a pain in return for his comments. And also, what you said about "what happened to honour," some people prefer to make a profit rather than have the honour of dying to a superior. See PKer 1. Back on-topic: I'm rather annoyed by the lack of respect people have for... well, just generally everybody. I mean, seriously, would it kill you to not take everything someone says in a perverted sense? Or at least not MENTION your distorted thoughts? Because then everybody starts doing it, and that area temporarily turns into a mental landfill. (Beware the metaphor!) So yeah, show some common courtesy. And, for you guys, chivalry is NOT dead, it's just less violent.
  15. So, what you're saying is Jagex made it less possible to get ill-gotten gains. And you're complaining about it....? You're saying you WANT scammers to be out there annoying the heck out of everybody? Are you saying that you WANT people to be lured into the Wild just because they haven't even played the game for a stinkin' 15 minutes? (I speak from experience, by the way) Are you saying that you want the game to be filled with cyber-criminals? Oh, by the way, "dumb kids like you" happen to actually have enough maturity to spell and use proper grammar. Sorry, I'm a bit of an English freak. It bothers me when I have to squint to read what you're saying. At least use a spellchecker.
  16. Is there anything more pointless than a fletching potion? And why the need for a new herb? Seriously harralander and a cadantine would have worked fine. Why waste another 2 bank spaces for no real reason (seed and herb). Yes herblore needs a boost but here's two suggestions: 1. Make summoning pots take you over your max by 2 levels. 2. Make a super prayer potion from Torstol and Snape Grass. That's off the bat without really thinking about it. Hey, I didn't say that I think the new herb is good. I just said what I knew about it.
  17. I got a bit of info on the new herb.... You can get it from the Brimhaven Agility Arena, as well as from monsters and Winkin's Farm. The Fletching potion made from it gives a +3 boost to Fletching per dose. No other info right now, I'll try and get more to let you guys know!
  18. In case you weren't on at the time, after the run energy update there was a rather large and well-known glitch with monsters not attacking you at all, not being able to bank by talking directly to bankers, as well as houses and Summoning not working at all. This glitch lasted for about 20 minutes. This topic is for discussing the glitch itself and possible repercussions, such as prices of boss monster loot going down.
  19. Well, every game changes but no reason to quit over it. I've played since the period of RSC transfer to RS2 and i loved the change. But many others didn't but are still playing to this very day on their RSC accounts! So your saying because the new HP bar changed and people complain about it that they should quit? just giving some of my thoughts out there. nice thread. - harpz - Every game changes, AND THERE IS NO REASON TO QUIT OVER IT. WRONG. If you don't like a game, stop forcing yourself to play and whine about everything that is wrong with it. Why don't you go and play some other games that allow RWT? I never said they have to quit, I said they should quit IF THEY HATE A PARTICULAR UPDATE SO MUCH. Why force yourself and whine and make everyone unhappy? Seriously. Nice thread. Correction: FAIL THREAD. Pointless and stupid. I wonder why a mod hasn't removed it. Thanks. And also, the mods probably haven't gotten rid of it yet because contrary to what we have presented, it is still a legitimate "rant"..... just one that very few people agree with.
  20. So you seriously think that stealing from somebody just because they weren't taught any better is morally acceptable....? Or was the word "could" the operative word there. If it was, then the game needed to develop into the way it is, otherwise everyone would quit except the scammers, the veterans, and the people who knew how to avoid being scammed. And these three groups would most likely constantly be at war. Sound like fun?
  21. I just reread the OP's post, and.... well..... I don't know what to say. But I'm still gonna say something. First of all, I will admit that all the younger players that came was partially Jagex's fault for not doing their homework. They should have known Miniclip was more of a children's site. And yes, children tend to have less common sense than adults. However, Jagex, at the time of the Miniclip ad, saw that they had a prosperous game - a prosperous source of revenue, in the case of member accounts - and wanted to expand it a little bit. As to disliking the trade & staking limits and loss of the Wildy, which would you have preferred? RWTers continuing to take over Runescape, selling to people (not just little kids!) stupid enough to buy the gold? Would you have preferred to let bots take over any resource gathering spot that would be even slightly profitable, ending up with essentially a Runescape version of an economic crash? Or would you prefer having the trade limit, etc.? These are not rhetorical questions, I want some answers. Jagex messed up with the Miniclip ad, and the trade limit and Wildy removal were their way of trying to fix it, because apparently, the rules weren't enough. I do agree that Runescape has become more childish and slightly more cheesy over recent years, but did it occur to you that maybe it wasn't little kiddies asking for the pathetic requirements and cheesy plotlines? After all, I know many people my age who still watch Spongebob, and to me, that's as childish as you can get, short of wearing a diaper and crying all the time. And as for the pathetic requirements, there are 2 probable reasons that I came up with: 1) They're trying to keep newer players in the game, thus raising the player base and eventually gaining more revenue, which they will most likely use for better updates, quests, etc. Remember back when you just got off Tutorial Island? You had to sell some cheap, pathetic stuff before you had enough resources to get the good armor, bars, etc. 2) They simply decided that they wanted to put more time into high-leveled content. After all, the higher levels have seen more of Runescape and of life in general, and so they would want more developed plotlines, more in-depth rewards, etc. and so, they've just been taking a while with high-lvl content because they're trying to make it as epic as possible. Or maybe I'm wrong, and Runescape is just going down the tubes. "OMGZ LYK EVERY1 IZ QUITING!!!!11!!11!11!!!" P.S. Yes, I enjoy mocking chatspeak/1337speak/whatever you want to call it. Excuse me for wanting digital text to be in a language that can be read without squinting. :-#
  22. - harpz - Regarding the HP bar: Seriously, does it even matter that much? I mean, people are STILL ranting about it to no end, and asking Jagex to "change it back plz omgomg i h8 this is sux im quiting!!!!1!!!!11!!!!". So much for the government pretense that people over 13 can handle more mature situations and free Internet speech. :wall: Seriously, that's one of the reasons Runescape is supposed to be for 13 and over. Ah well. Did you ever think that maybe they changed it so it wouldn't look like - actually, I think it actually was - drawn in MS Paint? My little say on everyone ranting about the new HP bar. Now, as to the changes before '05, and from summer '06 to summer '07 or '08, I am unaware of those due to having lost my old f2p account. (RIP Kowabunga11) I can see your (the OP's) point that Jagex has made multiple updates that are highly looked down on by higher leveled and/or veteran players. But if you think about it, Runescape is still a pretty darn good game. It still has all the essential elements that it had back in the day - multiple skills, simple but yet complex layout, even a great community (granted, it takes some digging to find, but there are still great player communities out there!). As to the lack of "COMMON SENSE," you'll find that common sense actually isn't all that common. Jagex realized this as their customer base grew, and thus made sneaky (and somewhat cruel) methods of gaining money against the rules, and helped players out a bit that had a lack of common sense. Remember that a great deal of their customer base is made up of teenagers with maturity the size of the head of a pin. I do grieve the death of the Wildy, but there's a point where you just get over it and move on. You'll find that the crowds that gathered at the Wildy borders now gather in Falador and Lumbridge on PvP worlds, or actually still in the Wildy on Bounty Worlds. And the GE did not hurt veteran players or even merchants - they jsut had to learn a new type of merchanting. And scamming someone because they couldn't find an item's price was history, as was waiting for hours in Varrock trying to get someone to buy 400 coal. (If you miss that, then you are the most patient yet persistent person I know or have even heard of.) And that's my 2 cents on the updates of years past. Ask any questions, I'll answer to the best of my ability. Flame me all you want, but it's not gonna hurt me whatsoever.
  23. While F2P players who hit 99 deserve recognition for that achievement, the skillcape in itself was made as a member feature as a powerful cape for those who earned that power. Jagex will probably keep the power (stat boosts) in the P2P area. But what if they made a less powerful, but still flashy and epic version of the capes for F2P? Do you think this would satisfy high levels, or would they want more?
  24. First, you need to know a bit about the mole's drops. It always drops either mole claws, mole skin, or a combination of both. These can be traded to Wyson the Gardener for bird's nests. Seeds from the nest can yield more than 100k if you're lucky. If you think that's worth it, go ahead.
