  1. Pretty neat ^_^ i like the design :)

However, be sure to add good rules for the submitting part. Like, the layout of your submitting has to be well organised. And make some sort of moderation, I would certainly volunteer :)

Heh, i will have it set to be basic HTML only. It will have to be approved before being published, and there will be a video submission option.

All submissions will have to be up to certain standards in the terms of grammar and the subject of the guide. I hope that the site will become known more for the quality of the guides than a site with a guide for everything.

    Y_Guy:

Thanks for the site, i was aware that something like it existed but had no idea of a name :) That will definitely help.

EDIT: I took a screenshot as i am yet to sort out any temporary hosting.

All except the logo had to be done in paint due to my lack of Photoshop on my new netbook, heh.

This is just the first draft of the site, i am still going to add some additional effects to improve it a bit more. I will potentially use it for my AS-level IT coursework, but i will definitely be using it for my new Runescape guide site. I am yet to modify it for anything other than the home page, but it shouldn't be too much trouble to get it up to scratch for submission pages, contact pages etc...

Thanks a lot to meol for resizing the logo, as it would look horrific in it's previous state ^_^

Please post your criticisms, i want to make it the best i can. At the moment, my main dislike is the overly-blue colour scheme, i feel i need to mix in some other colours.

  3. Hi,

i am currently working on a new website for Runescape guides. I had a YouTube channel called GuidesForScapers which i had up and running for roughly a month. It was pretty successful, but now my old PC blew up and i lost ALL of my graphics/video templates/presets etc...

I have a netbook now, which is nowhere near powerful enough to run vegas/after effects/photoshop, so i was wondering if someone could do me a HUGE favour.

This is the only image i have left from my old PC, as i used it in the threads i posted here on TIF.

I am using this at the top of my website as the banner, but it is too spaced out. There are gaps between the limits of the image and the logo itself. As i don't have access to photoshop and i am unable to use anything more than paint without my netbook crashing, i really need someone to help me out and reduce the bounds of the image to around 5 pixels either side of the text. At the moment, when the image is on the webpage, it overhangs the menu by quite a bit.

I don't really have anything to offer for this, other than £0.30 in my PayPal >.< I would happily give credits on my website, and i would be extremely grateful.

    Thanks in advance.

Sorry if this is the wrong section, i couldn't think of anywhere more appropriate to post it.

  4. Sorry to bump this, but, no. Not unless they hire a Chinese guy in a sweatshop to type them for the bot.

Sure there are, you think they are 100% fullproof?

Worst case scenario is someone finds algorithms that are old and outdated and has a only 30% success rate. But 30% success rate while given a infinite amount of times to refresh the captcha until your algorithm reaches a point where it feels confident?

Sure, a captcha system would reduce bots, but it sure wouldn't eliminate them. Worst case for the people botting would be having to set up IRC channels where people "bank" answers. I solve 30 captchas for you, 30 random people solve 30 captchas for me. Hell, it would even be possible to text message or email a image of it to your phone.

A captcha is a RANDOMLY generated string, manipulated automatically and randomly. There is no set algorithm.

It is, however, possible to detect the characters (dependent on how distorted they are). With any decent captcha, it is extremely hard to do so with a program.

From my form-filling botting days i know of a site called decaptcha, they provide a captcha service for around $0.08 IIRC.

  5. A very, very simple suggestion.

    1) Announce them 1 day before. Announcing them 2 weeks before causes HUGE fluctuations in price, if they announced it 24 hours before it started, the prices would still rise, but nowhere near to the same scale. Also, in the 24 hours people could gather their own materials if they don't buy easily on the GE. People would still be able to put them to use, but the economy would recover within the next update or two.

    2) Make it 1 day. If the duration was 24 hours, then the price rises would recover FAR faster. Instead of being high for the duration of the weekend, they would drop in the next GE update.

    3) Have a fixed multiplier. For the full 24 hours, given a 2x multiplier. Maybe reduce it to 1.5x after 12 hours, as a full 24 hours of double experience is a bit generous. This would get rid of the confusion and huge rush, people wouldn't be forced to spend every second logged in skilling. They could do what they needed to and not feel pressured into doing nothing but skills and grinding. If people miss out because they aren't on for the day or they can't play for long, tough.

Meh, i think this would fix the issues with prices and would make it FAR more simple/enjoyable.

  6. Dark bows are great for KOs, but i think you should try getting 50 attack and using a granite maul. The special could probably total an easy 500 damage (not including the initial hit) instantly.

If you didn't want to use a granite maul, a dark bow is good. At times it can be inaccurate, but if you get a good special you can hit hard.

  7. This is why I never liked PvP - everyone involved is completely dishonest. Why can't you just kill people the normal way? I doubt you'll find much support on TIF.

Sorry, but don't i have a loot gallery with my "normal" kill loots? I'm not dishonest by any means, if people are stupid enough to chase into multi then they are practically killing themselves.

It isn't manipulating people in any way, it is their own (lack of) instincts that makes them chase someone. We don't manipulate the way they think, we just provide a kill opportunity and hope that they take it.

  8. Hi,

i've been watching some youtube videos recently of a team called Project Genesis. They just do simple lures, someone pretends to be a failure and "runs away" from people until they are into multi, then they get piled.

I wanted to do this, but with higher level accounts. I am currently level 111 PVP combat, 118 when pouched. I have a few friends that may be willing to join that are of a similar level.

I'm looking for 3 - 4 others that have power weapons/half decent stats to join in. Claws, dark bow, hand-cannon, even a dragon dagger. Out of myself and the friends who may be willing to help, we would already have a barrager/blitzer, teleblocker, clawer and dark bower. So it isn't like we are short of much, we would just need a little more power for the quick KO.

So, if you are interested and preferrably 110 - 120 combat, please post here with your RSN and any other information.

    Thanks :)

Note: This type of luring isn't against the rules, it isn't as if they are being scammed into the wilderness, they know what they are risking and haven't been manipulated into risking, just into dying.

Another note: 57+ summoning would be an advantage, as it allows you to use the Spirit Kyatt scroll which hits up to 300 damage.
