  1. In suburban areas our speeds are limited to 80, and 60 on some roads. Most other roads are limited to 80, with some at 100. Even the highways are 100. Think there's 1 highway that's limited to 120, but that's the one leading to Saudi. And these days it's so risky to break the limit because of the amount of radars/cameras around and with how high fines are. 100 feels hella slow for a highway. When i was in South Africa the other week, where highways are 120, it felt like we were zooming. Literally gave me anxiety.

On a different topic, slightly annoyed. So i ordered the parts for my PC yesterday. Came to a total of 1950 including a mouse and keyboard. Shipping is going to cost anywhere from 300-500 depending on who i use. Kind of ridiculous paying 15-20% of the actual purchase for shipping. But there's really no other way. Can't buy the components here, because they don't sell most of it here. And even if they did, the prices would be so inflated that it would end up more than paying for shipping. Funny though, the case costs 110 and the shipping for that alone is 150. It's insane. But it's done now. Should be getting the parts soon.

  2. Welp. I ordered the parts. Decided to get a new Mouse and Keyboard too. There goes $2000. Not gonna lie, but i'm surprised how much i was able to get with $2000. I was expecting to have to spend a lot more for what i got. I probably went a bit overboard with what i got, considering i'm only really going to use it for stuff like Smite and Runescape. At least now i'll finally also be able to play some of the Steam games i couldn't play on my Laptop, which i just realised i have a lot of.

  3. Anyone mind taking a look at something for me? Looking to build a new PC. Pretty much clueless on the topic. Took someone else's build and replaced some of the parts that weren't available for shipping, with similar parts that are available for shipping. Just wanted to know if what i have is fine.

The case is still somewhat up in the air. Still trying to find something that pleases the eye. But aside from that, is what i currently have in mind fine?

  4. New Nioh DLC dropped today. It's pretty good. Enjoying it so far. Has a new mode comparable to GRs in Diablo, so i'm gonna be hooked on it for a while. Injustice 2 also dropped a new update. Also pretty good from a single player perspective. And i've actually been playing some RS again lately. It's actually pretty fun. But i want to get a new PC before i really start playing again. My laptop is [bleep]ed and keeps overheating every 15 minutes.

  5. Scored a date with an Air Hostess that was on the flight with me the other day. The entire flight she was flirting with me, or at least i assumed that's what she was doing. So after the flight i asked her for her number, asked her out yesterday, and she said yes. Really cute Indian girl.

  6. Apparently he asked her about it and she said she just felt like sending it to him. And funny enough he kinda pulls on the regular. He's never really had any trouble in that department, but for some reason he seems really stuck on this girl. I think it's mostly just the "can't have what you want" thing.

  7. So i think my friend's overthinking a situation and he thinks he's not, but still doesn't know quite what to think. Basically here's the story: He's been talking to a ex for a while now. He lives here, and she lives in Oregon. The dated for a few months before breaking up. They never really had any problems, they just broke up because she moved states (originally she lived in California which is where they met when he was attending a school there for a couple of years). They kind of lost touch, but started talking again recently. From what he tells me they never really talk about anything intimate. It was sort of like a long-distance friend/pen-pal situation with some very subtle flirts here and there. Subtle enough to hardly even recognize most of the times. Anyway, so a few days ago she randomly sent him a Snapchat. Nothing strange, just a normal selfie before she left the house that night to go out with her friends. Honestly, i had no idea why he showed me, but he told me he thought it carried some sort of significance because in all the time they've been talking she has never personally sent him a picture of herself.

I told him that he was probably just overthinking the situation, but he insists that there's some meaning behind the situation. She's never sent him anything before, so why now? He's also been talking to her about moving back to the US in the near future because he has some possible job opportunities there, so he thinks it might have something to do with that. I don't want to crush his hopes or anything, but i just think he's misjudging the situation a bit.

  8. Finally back home. In the last 4 or 5 weeks i've only been home a total of 2 nights, so i'm actually so happy to be home. Only downside is my AC completely broke while i was away. So my room is basically a sauna. Will have to sleep on the couch tonight.

South Africa turned out to be a lot better than i expected. First time i've been there in 7 years. It was fun partying with Afrikaans speaking people again. Was a bit weird, but it was really fun. I also came to the conclusion that media outside of South Africa has totally over-hyped how dangerous it is. Sure, it's still dangerous if you're stupid and careless, but i can honestly say in my entire time there i didn't really feel like i had to fear for my life once. I lived with my uncle for the entire time i was there, and his house is pretty much like a fortress at night after he locks all the different games outside and inside the house, and turns on the alarms, but still...

Flight home was one of the best i've had in a long time. One of the cabin crew members was flirting with me the entire flight. Kept bringing me shit to drink, chocolates, etc. That's always the one complaint i've had against Qatar Airways. If you ask them for some water, they bring you a small cup of water instead of a bottle like they used to in the past. But every now and then, if you get lucky, they'll bring you a 1.5L bottle. Lucky for me i was able to get a 1.5L from them this time which is good because otherwise i would have had that girl running up and down the plane like she was doing suicide runs.

  9. So my passport is officially full. Went to the embassy to apply for a new one, but it turns out it could take up to 6 months before i get it. Sadly i can't really afford to wait 6 months, so i'm pretty much forced to go back to South Africa and do it there. I found it kind of sad that my first reaction to realizing i had to go back to the country i was born in and grew up in was a feeling of anger and frustration. Haven't been back to South Africa in probably 7 years or something. Really not excited to go back there either.

  10. Our days have cooled down considerably, thankfully. Down to around the 105 region. But this is the time of the year the humidity really kicks in. Generally hangs around the 50% mark but goes as high as the upper 80%. Really unpleasant to be outside.

  11. Watched a video earlier today where a guy was talking about how, apparently, the Turkish and Qatari troops have set up road blocks all over the country, how Qatari nationals are rioting and rebelling against the government, and how the military has had to resort to tossing tear gas into the crowds of people to calm them down. This is what's being broadcast by news organisations in the UAE and Saudi. Oh, and Saudi had an advert on television showing their military shooting down a Qatar Airways passenger plane for entering their airspace. This is all because of a recent "dispute" between Qatar and some of the surrounding Arab nations, and now they're trying their utmost best to make Qatar look as bad as possible. Now i'm not going to sit here and pretend Qatar's innocent, but get [bleep]ing real. When i country like Saudi starts pointing fingers, things become laughable.

There's a rumor floating around that Qatar played a big roll in the riots in few years back in Libya, and that Qatar is considering a more democratic system. This would explain the sudden hatred between the Arab nations because they know as soon as Qatar becomes more democratic, it's only a matter of time before they're forced to do the same. This would make a lot of sense considering the recent attention Qatar has been getting because of the FIFA World Cup, and their issues with human rights. Makes even more sense when i consider some of the recent changes made to things like VISAs, citizenship, etc.

Still just find it laughable when a country like Saudi claims innocence regarding funding organizations and points fingers to everyone else instead.

  12.

I've been growing my hair for about 18 months now, maybe a bit longer. I think it looks pretty good. My hairdresser told me that not a lot of guys can pull off long hair, but i have the right features to pull it off. I trust his judgement. Anyway, my hairline has also been increasingly receding over the past couple of years, so when i tie my hair back my forehead becomes rather large. Again, not a big issue, it still looks fine. The only problem is that during summer, and especially during the end months of summer when it becomes extremely humid, my head looks like a fresh polished bowling ball. I swear it's like my entire body is completely dry except for my forehead which is covered in a thin layer of sweat, giving it the most obnoxious shine ever. Started carrying a handkerchief with me at all times just to keep my head dry and not a reflective surface. I feel like an old man.

    ?

Lol, not THAT bad yet, but probably not far off.

  14. Sounds like an unpleasant person, but have fun?

Pretty sure the only reason she said that was because i wasn't exactly the most attractive kid in high school and telling me i'm unpopular (which i mean, i was) is better than telling me i'm ugly as shit and i should stay in the friend zone i was placed in. Know what i mean? Besides, i mean it was 10 years ago. Literally. I'm sure she's changed.

  15. Ran into an old highschool fling last night. Of all places i'll run into her here. 10 years later, halfway across the world. Same girl who once told me she couldn't date me because i wasn't popular enough and her friends would think bad of her. Got a date with her later this week. Pretty nervous to be honest. She's still a total babe though. Hasn't changed one bit.

  16. I went to the store late last night, around 1am-ish because i was craving some ice cream. The store up the road, a little convenience store, is the same one i've been going to since we moved here. So nearly 10 years. Been run by the same people all this time. Generally i go to the store at least 3 or 4 times a week, but yesterday was the first time in about 2 months i went to that specific store. Usually i only go there to buy cigarettes, and since i bought a lot of cigarettes on the airport with my last visit to Greece, i had no real reason to go there. Anyway, so last night i went to buy some ice-cream and ended up having like a 30 minute conversation with two of the owners. They just asked where i've been since they haven't seem me around in so long. And i realised something i hadn't really thought of before, and it's something i guess i always somewhat took for granted, but they're always treated me really well. I always get preferential treatment when i go there. And there have been so many times i would go to the store in the middle of the night to buy cigarettes but not have my wallet with me and they'll just tell me to pay them back next time. Small things like that.

Also realised that, apart from my parents, they're really the only other people in this country that have "watched me grow". They're the only other people that saw me go through my different phases and stages of life. I don't know why but it gave me a strange warmth.

  17. I make a concerted effort to ignore the Diablo meta game. "Builds" don't interest me; not in any game. One of the things I enjoyed immensely about Diablo 3 is that I can actually go pretty far with my 'whatever pleases me' attitude towards skill selection, pretty much right up until the torment levels (and since I don't item farm, that's not an issue. I don't need to run through the game more times than that on a single character). That said, if the summoning from the Necromancer is weak, then I'm not interested. In my considered opinion, the Diablo 2 Necromancer was garbage in terms of end game. The minions were a waste of time (in that using them literally wasted your time. A Barbarian with a half decent weapon and whirlwind could do the same work as your entire minion army in a fraction of the time), and the direct damage magic spells simply didn't have enough damage to be any better than the damn skeletons. The Barbarian ended up being my class of choice for D2 sadly; I just never found the Necromancer to be fun even in Nightmare.

I still haven't had much of a look, but I don't think I have the money for the DLC, so it doesn't really matter. What I have done is grabbed ProMods for ETS 2 (huge map expansion) and it's like playing the game for the first time again. The polish certainly isn't up to the same standard as the developer, but it's not far off, and the actual map design rivals the DLC content. They've also taken the time to go back over a lot of the base game content it seems, and bring it up to that same standard which is amazing. I'm willing to sacrifice a bit of polish if it means bringing the entire world up to DLC design standards any day.

I'm also doing it on a new profile, which is interesting. My first run into the expanded map took me through Finland and up the western edge of Russia, and there are jobs there that I simply cannot do in a base vehicle. I need a bigger engine, and I need a 6x4 chassis for more grip, and to switch over to my much older controller with a throttle slider (which I used to summit a snowy mountain sans trailer). I avoided the mod for a long time because I didn't think it would be good enough, and because of bugs. I think the current version was a good time to make the jump though. I was very wrong about the quality, and they're quashed a lot of bugs that were introduced by game changes in the current version, so it's making a strong first impression. And I now have a screenshot of my Canadian painted truck in a plausibly Canadian locale (it's actually Finland, but whatever. It's a snowy mountain and it looks right).

I'm not always a fan of using whatever the meta suggests is best either. I like using whatever i find enjoyable, whether it's bad or not. Back in like season 5 or 6 of Diablo 3 i used builds that were truly underwhelming (Roland's Legacy). Crusader has always been my favorite class, and Shield Bash one of my favorite skills. But the set for the skill was bad, and wasn't really viable for pushing GRs. I still did it, and i had fun with it. But i realised that if i wanted to push GRs with other people, i'd have to use whatever was meta at the time. I think it's just polite, in an online scenario, to stick to the meta. At least in a game like Diablo 3 where there's a reason certain things are meta. The Division is slightly different though. In group events there's no real meta. Certain things are stronger than others, but you can get away with pretty much any sort of build as long as you have some idea of game mechanics. It's tough to explain. So if you're not really all that well informed, and your build is lacking, maybe trying to do what is considered the hardest content in the game, on the hardest difficulty, isn't something you should be trying to do. Do it on the easier difficulty, where you're not just going to frustrate other people.

  18. Completely forgot Battlefield was a thing. Found my Hardline disc while i was busy clearing some things a bit, popped it in, couldn't stop playing for several hours. Holy shit i forgot how good that game was (despite the negativity it got from the player base). Had so much fun. Did a lot better than i expected too. Managed to keep a 2.5 KD in all the games i played, which is decent considering how long it's been since i've played. Conquest Large is just such a fun game mode. And the maps are just so much fun too.

  19. Live in Texas was the first ever CD i got for my birthday. I remember hearing LP at my mom's cousin's house when i was 12 and i remember telling my parents "i really like this band". They ended up getting me Live in Texas a few weeks later for my birthday. Meteora came not long after. Actually one of the few bands from my childhood i still listened to on a regular basis. I think this is one of the first deaths in the past 18 or so months that really hit my generation hard since it's the first person that really had a a big impact on most of our lives growing up, in one way or another.
