  1. Jagex does not cater to efficient or meta-players.

If they did every single piece of content would have a defined space in the meta-game instead of much being dead content.

Besides like it or not every single player is part of the meta-game.

If you have ever watched a guide on how to do something in-game, bought yourself better gear to help yourself out or moved on to higher level content to get better xp or better gp you have played the meta-game. You have made these changes because the meta-game dictates they benefit you.

Just because you personally do not care what the absolutely theoretical best is or don't choice to do things the mathematical perfect ways does not mean you are magically outside the meta-game. In fact the meta-game probably did a bunch of sums and testing to work out exactly how you should play in a lesser intense, less theoretically perfect way (ie welfare guides, low budget guides, low stat guides. Gear equivalents).

Also it is very rude and insulting to class an entire group as dweebs and write off how they like to interact with the game just because you do not like it or find it fun.

Some of us find enjoyment and fun in working things out and we like to share what we have worked out to help others if they wish to take the advice.

Just because you do not want to use that advice is no reason to be rude and disrespectful to the time and effort people have invested in doing so and the fact they are willing to share that effort.

I mean I spent several hours making my fish flinger tracker to aid in playing fish flingers more efficiently does that mean i'm a "meta dweeb" and ruining the game?

I mean heaven forbid I have fun and enjoy myself by doing some javascripting to create a tool that helps me score more points easily in part of runescape because I like the idea of getting the most out of my time in fish flingers.

And how game ruining and awful of me to post it to major fansites so that others may use it entirely for free if they wish to do so.

And then as a real monstrous move to put the knife in and wreck the game for you I even spent MORE of my time enjoying myself doing some coding to implement suggestions to make the tool better,

Bottom line is if you have ever chosen to make a change to improve how you do something in-game you have made a meta-game choice.

If you have ever watched a single video guide or read a single guide on any forum, fansite or wiki about runescape you have purposefully gone in pursuit of meta-game knowledge to do something more efficiently.

they messed up pretty bad to have people willing to give up 9 years worth of updates , but then again I think if WoW ever release a burning crusade server it would probably be more popular than WoD

Except they didn't quite give up 9 years. Two weeks prior to release, all the inconveniences of the 7 year old game quickly became apparent and people started demanding fixes which subsequently implemented, and even updates. And now they have a whole new continent which is probably comparable in magnitude of content to Prif.

Yeah you can only really claim people "gave up" 5.5 years of content - the 5.5 years between the aug 07 backup used to create osrs and the feb 13 launch of osrs.

But then with all the updates osrs have received people didn't really give up anything.

  3. I wasn't being a jerk.

You replied to my post to directly point out my advice was flawed for skillers so I was merely pointing out the the OPs signature shows he is not a skiller and therefore the limitations of a skiller are not particularly relevant to the advice being offer to him whilst also taking the opportunity to expand upon the overall useful of portals in relation to other options to get to these places.

If I were being a jerk I'd of perhaps thrown in some insulting term or some such move instead of focussing on the giving of advice pertinent to the topic at hand.

Anyway in terms of 2nd portal room focussing you mentioned I'd ask have you built a portal focus in that room? Perhaps its super obvious, but I've known people to not build a focus in the 2nd room and then wonder why they can't direct them so worth a mention.

  4.

So we know the player counts of 07, eoc and darkscape, how many players does rs3 have?

You realise eoc and rs3 are the same game right?

EOC is not a game. Eoc is an OPTIONAL part of rs3. If we are talking about rs3 player count we need to add eoc users and legacy combat users.

If you want to get technical and pedantic eoc is kind of nothing to the game now.

Eoc was the name of a specific update that introduced combat.

Now we simply have 4 combat modes - Full manual, revolution, momentum and legacy.

That aside no-one has listed any numbers to with combat mode. The entire thread has been about the player counts of the different games - rs3, osrs and ds - just the op, and some who replied, have used eoc to mean rs3 and 07 to mean osrs. Yes both are not the "proper" names of the respective games, but they are both well used terms.

  5. It's hard to say really since the xp scales with level so in terms of xp get vs xp needed its always going to be about the same.

You just have to decide what you deem to be a reasonable gp:xp rate. as 1 feather gives roughly 10% of a small lamp xp the cost gets lesser as your level goes up.

    ie 1 feather is 24k

1 feather gives xp equal to ~10% of a small xp lamp

So at 24 agility thats 36xp for a feather so 666gp per xp.

    At 30 47xp 510gp

    40 333gp

    50 218gp

    60 142gp

    etc

    until at 98+ it's 28gp

  6. The ideal end game crew is:

2 Morale Captains with 4x Leader

1 Combat captain with 4x Tactician

    2 S/f captain 1 with 4x seafriend 1 with 4x multi-talented

    Then you want:

4 Terracotta Merchants that never leave the boats

4 Kharidian Exiles for multi stat voyages

    6 Zhonghu Players

    6 Gu Bodyguards

    5 Stargazer

  7. 1) They aren't really worth it in terms of gp or xp output. They eat a lot of resources to kill and the average drop value isn't all that great.

Wyverns generally speaking from what I'v eseen the melee route is the way to go as it stops them using some attacks.

Also standing as close to the fire as possible isn't the best way to deal with them, most guides recommend stand near fire, run out do kill go back to fire.

Camels the sandstorm attack is triggered when you use stuns on it. Don't use stuns.

Also the sand storm can be escaped by moving.

    2) Raids in short is a sequence of boss fights and other challenges that are played in order.

In runescapes case the full Raid is Durzag, Channels 'puzzle' then Yaka.

If you don't think their drop tables are that valuble you haven't looked very well. All their basic drops are very well valued giving a solid 100k-1m.

Plus there is the Mazcab ability codex bought for 25k teci or gotten as a drop worth a solid 34m

They are done for the armour as well with Achto gear sets being the strongest tank armour in-game.

  8. ^ I'd say that rule is a bit ott.

As long as you do not attack anyone you will not be skulled making 3 items 100% safe.

If you take the sign/portent of item protection 4 items are 100% safe

Protect Item prayer can protect a 5th BUT it does rely on you maintaining prayer points until you die so it's not 100% safe.

Therefore as a rule I'd say take 4 good items with the sign/portent.

Then 5th item considering taking an ok item that it'd be best if you did not lose but if you do lose it its not the end of the world

Then rest of items be welfare.

With those 4 100% safe items you can take your best wep plus a full head/body/leg armour set or beat dual wield with head and legs.

After all it is easy to not get skulled as you only skull if you started combat and if your worried at all about someone finding a bug (there were some to do with familars they have since fixed) just turn auto-retal off then you will not attack unless you click to do so.

  9.

It is not certain that Max Guild will be locked again if gained access prior the release of a new skill. It might be very well possible that once access is gained, it is open. Just like HLF.

    It will lock.

The def/hp reset thing proves it - once your not max total level you can't open that door and they already said there will be no grace period or concessions on comp/max so no reason to assume they won't put that total level check up immediately.

HLF is totally different because it is a manually done thing.

  10. The thing with stockpiling for invention is we aren't even really sure how much or what is gonna be super worth stock piling.

Some stuff they mentioned when speaking of perks etc suggested if u make a bad one u dismantle it and get materials back.

Stuff to do with xp gain suggests using augmented items is a large part of getting xp.

Both of which feed into the idea we won't necessarily be needing to burn huge amounts of resource -  especially if we assume the 'big spend' resources will be the ones that can be gotten from lower stuff.

  11. http://www.dabs.com/products/lenovo-305-15iby-intel-pentium-qc-8gb-1tb-15-6--windows-8-1-64-bit-80nk000auk-BLS9.html

Looking at those specs it is integrated graphics, which is never great for graphic intensive stuff even with a super duper processor.

So couple that with the only okay processor (it's fine and great speeds for processing stuff, but throw in doing all the graphics too and its kinda slow and tiny cache) and you're not likely to get great performance.

Best bet would be looking for driver updates that may make it process graphics better and hope and pray for NXT to launch sooner as the C++ client should render graphics in a much better way meaning you ought to be able to get better fps out of it.

Anther possible helping factor would be make sure you are shutting down fully and not just putting the thing to sleep as that will clog up the RAM caches over time and look to get a cooling stand for the laptop as overheating will drag performance down.

  12. Personally I do not like Helring's idea this time. It's just not at all what I think of when I think of fossil island. I mean some of the lead in about the museum is good, but the actually place just nope for me.

I also kinda dislike it because of the scale suggested - I like the idea of Fossil Island being an island, a fairly big one like Karamja kinda size, but deffo an island. Plus when Jamflex have already mentioned in streams etc. that the new area will be about the size of 1/2 of Priff it seems like a bad idea to push for an idea that largely hinges on Fossil Island being a much larger continent.

  13.

Dual portal chambers to cover all options are kinda pointless these days - between lodestones and chipped tabs all the possible portal locations are more than covered.

Not for skillers they're not; chipped tablets require either Swan Song, or Love Story; skillers will rarely have either done!

Because in a thread where the OP signature clearly shows he has 90s in all combat stats and we are commenting on his design for his house what a skiller can and cannot do is super important.

Besides even taking chipped tablets out of the equation for skillers the portals are still largely redundant with lodestones, especially with vis wax for instant teles

Varrock - lodestone, normal tele tabs skills neckalce or ROW teles

Lumbridge - lodestone, normal tele tabs, the WE1 faction tokens plus short term event specific teleports come with pretty much every crater event now

Falador - lodestone, explorers ring, normal tele tabs, skills necklace

Camelot - Lodestones all of which land closer to the place you'd actually be going to (ie cathurby or seers), skill necklace can work too

Ardougne - Lodestone, ardy cape, skills necklace again

    Yanille - lodestone

    Canafis - lodestone

Not to mention most of them aren't even that useful.

Varrock is only really used for GE centric stuff which edgeville teles are better for and after prif opens is kinda totally useless.

Lumby is useless outside of crater events that get their own teles

Falador isn't a major 'go to hub' mostly just a place to hit up for Artisans workshop or Rago (who is much better served by the lodestone)

Camelot is just middle of nowhere useless, seers doesn't really have much and Cathurby is just for sub-par fishing or farm runs which are better served by lodestone or lunars.

Ardougne is just for pengs and farm runs - farm runs are better served by the cape and peng runs are so infrequent lodestone and run is hardly a big issue

Yanille only reason to go is for open altars which means your house is there anyway so normal home tabs work.

Canafis is only really for god statue or low end slayer which are both right next to lodestone.

  14. Can't say I've ever encountered this at normal KQ so might be exiled KQ exclusive.

Certainly a bug, but I wouldn't worry about other bosses doing it as the nature of KQs unique spawning conditions would be the route of this bug.

All other bosses are either a single entity that is respawned when dead (ie DKS, kbd etc) or a instanced monster spawned by a specific trigger (ie raids, rago, raxi, QBD)

KQ on the other hand is two monsters one of which respawns using the when dead system and the other spawned by a trigger.

Flying KQ is spawned by a specific trigger of Walking KQ dying.

Walking KQ *should* only spawn when neither Walking or Flying KQ exists.

This bug would be a failure in which Walking KQ is defaulting to the standard respawn behaviour - ie respawning when dead without paying attention to whether Flying KQ exists or not.
