  1. Tier 9 is 51k xp an hour without energy and on T8 I wasn't getting anywhere near 49k xp an hour unless I was QHing

Do you have more specific numbers for non-qh T8 rates? I was honestly very very surprised that I was achieving similar experience post-nerf.

Also 51k/hr w/o energy seems about right. Based on very crude math using my 49k figure, experience at 80+ using energy half the time should be about 54k/hr so that seems reasonable.

I timed another hour at 76 and got aprox 50k that hour without the use of energy ;D!

That's very interesting. Is there anything you're doing that's different than how I said I've been training? I'm interested to see how much you get with energy, perhaps I haven't been training optimally.

  2. didn't see yuj's post until after I had made mine; i was responding to flabberwocky. sorry for the confusion.

Also surely it is important part of the report to say which option was used when depositing? Seeing as option 1 wipes off like 95% of the xp, option 2 is 'normal' and option 3 gives like 15% more xp; regardless of if they used option 3 like you did.

I did mention that as well, in the sentence after I made the list. I'll mention it in the list too in case anyone just skims the topic over.

  3. I'm referring to the glitch (it might not be a glitch but it doesn't seem like it can be just bad luck) by which a player may go dozens of inventories (the few times it happened to me it was around 15 or more inventories before I'd get frustrated and stop playing for a while, but I imagine it can go on for several minutes, maybe hours) without harvesting a single enriched memory from a normal wisp.

Most people that reported it were getting enriched memories before at a presumably normal rate.

  4. I'm one of those people who loves numbers and knowing how much exp in an hour I can get. Last night, just for fun I was recording my experience gains by the hour doing the quick hopping method, and today after the nerf I've recorded every hour I've played as well. It would be great if people could record the amount of exp they gain per hour at different tiers so that we can compile a list of averages and get a better idea of what types of exp rates we should be getting per hour. I'll compile all the numbers and put them in the OP here.

When you report, please name the following:

    - Tier you are at (if T6 or T8 make sure you mention whether it is before or after 55/75, as the additional energy earned after these levels may prove to make a difference)

    - Any oddities, such as the glitch that doesn't let you harvest enriched memories from normal springs, or if you fit more than 3 enriched springs into your hour by quick hopping or taking a break, etc. In general, an hour's log should consist of only 3 enriched spring resets (resets occur at :00, :20, and :40)

    - How much experience you earned during the hour (doesn't have to be exact, but to the thousand would be great; please don't spitball though)

    - What method you used (always option 2, sometimes option 3, etc)

    - Any additional comments.

I train by using the 3rd option every time I deposit, which usually means that about half of my memories earn me enhanced exp, and the other half become second option exp. If you use a different method (only option 2, or you've bought energy and always get option 3 exp), please mention that in your report.

I hope you all will join me in this endeavor, it shouldn't be more difficult than recording your starting exp and ending after the hour, so hopefully others will help out.

Also, if you used the qh method pre-nerf, feel free to report your exp for that as well. At T7, I was earning ~41k/hr, and at T8 approximately 50k/hr, but it is very possible that I was training inefficiently as my post-nerf rates are not much worse.

Anyway, sorry about the essay, onto the rates:

    MIne were, for T8:

    -Hour 1: 47k

    -Hour 2: 47k

-Hour 3: 49k (hit level 75 during this hour)

    -Hour 4: 49k

    -Hour 5: 49k

-Hour 6: 50k (took a half hour break this hour, so got a fourth enriched spring)

    -Hour 7: 52k

    -Hour 8: 50k

    -Average: ~49k/hr

    OVERALL

    T8 (70-79): ~49k/hr

  5. So I want to get 99 prayer as my next 99 but I've noticed that the price of dragon bones has risen quite substantially lately. It was under 3k about a month ago and now it's past 4k. This is about a 50m difference from my level, so I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas about whether prayer will get cheaper due to natural market fluctuations and rise/fall, or if the price is not going to go back down. I understand bots have been cleared out for the most part, so that could be an explanation for the price increase, but I just wanted to know people's thoughts on this. Is it time to start buying up bones or can I wait a bit?

  6. It's possible I really screwed up now... That page told me to uninstall and reinstall the latest version of java and I did so; now on both browsers the game gets stuck where it says RuneScape 3 in the middle and the spinning wheel thing underneath. Any ideas on how I can get it to take the next step and actually let me play?

EDIT: My bad for the double, thought it would automerge

  7. So up until about a week ago I played RS through Google Chrome with no issues, however, one morning it just stopped working randomly with chrome, and the game wouldn't load at all (like, it is just a blank screen and constantly says it's loading but nothing happens). I moved over to Firefox but firefox is a shit browser so I didn't want to have to stick with it. Yesterday when RS3 got released, I was finally able to use Chrome again, but this morning it's the same ol bull, and the game doesn't load. I don't want to have to download the client but if I absolutely must I suppose I will, but I thought I'd come here to see if anyone has any insight on this or advice if this has been happening to anyone else. Any tips?

EDIT: This had happened before when I first started playing a month and a half ago, and I think I had to revert to an older version of java to get things to work, and I haven't updated that since, if this is relevant.

  8. I'd recommend flipping; I've made about 20m in just about a week and I'm still learning how to do it. Has no skill requirements and I started with 3m so you definitely have enough to give it a shot.

Also, your dailies should give you like 500k a day or so, especially if you've done smoking kills.

  9. Do you pay the same price for all burnts? I have ~11k burnt sharks in my bank I think that I'd be willing to sell

Also, is the sandwich lady run always ongoing? I'm looking to train woodcutting right now anyway and I'd be more than happy to make a big profit off of the hours I'll spend standing there anyway. I'd love to work for you if it means getting both 99 woodcutting and millions of gp (and of course helping someone out with one of the coolest RS collections I've ever seen).

  10. Prayer with frost dragon bones or herblore with extremes.

Firemaking should be done for free with wc exp at jadinko firemaking. Thieving isn't buyable so that's a troll post.

Clearly you know nothing about thieving; you have to buy the sceptre!

  11. pretty sure that doesn't exist, unless you literally plan on just cleaning herbs to 99.

EDIT: You can train it exclusively through warbands, and if you ever get a wand, then I guess you'd profit that way.

  12. You need at least varrock armor 2 for gold.

With your setup, 89k xp/hour should be your average. You're probably losing ticks by not quickhopping and mistiming your superheats.

I highly recommend getting varrock armor 2, it'll boost your xp/hour by nearly 9k.

Getting a lava titan would boost your xp/hour by a further 12k.

How can I get my ticks straight? When should I be superheating? Also what is quickhopping?

I'll look into getting va2, would getting va3 be even better than 2? Or should I stop at 2?

Thanks a bunch for the reply!

  13. So since coming back I've tried to adapt to the new EoC changes, and I really like the addition of hotkey dropping in mining. I've heard that it is possible for higher level miners to achieve rates of 100k+ exp per hour, but I have yet to even come close, and I wanted to ask to make sure I'm doing everything I can to achieve the highest exp rates possible.

I'm currently 96 mining, and my set up is:

Worn: Golden mining helmet, varrock armour 1, golden mining trousers, golden mining boots, goldsmithing gauntlets, fire staff, amulet of glory, ring of wealth, t skillcape, and basic quarrymaster (3%)

Inventory: 22 decorated mining urns (I think this comes to 82.5k exp), nature runes, dragon pickaxe

Hotkeys: 1-Superheat, 2-drop gold bar, 3-drop gold, 4-drop coal, 5-teleport urn (can tele one without stopping)

I've logged 4 hours of mining and achieved rates of 75k, 77k, 79k, and just now I got 88k, which was very surprising. The first three times I was unable to use all my urns before quarrymaster ran out, and this last time I wished I had had a few more urns. The basic gameplan is obviously keep a gold ore handy at all times and just click and press 1,2, and occasionally 3; rinse; repeat.

The biggest problem I face is in the early game. Having only 3 spaces for ore makes it fill up quickly with the extra ores and my character stops. Worse still, sometimes the hotkeys don't work! I've noticed that if I click anywhere or let my inventory fill up, I have to reset the gold bar hotkey or it won't drop one when I press 2. I'm not sure if this is a glitch or what but it usually makes the first 6-10 minutes a bit more tricky, and I definitely think I might be losing exp here - my trouble with this is the main reason I decided to start this topic; any insight would be fantastic.

Have I got this all right? I know I'm losing a bit of exp by not having a familiar (I'm only level 60 summoning and have no charms), and I guess I lose out on a little by not using the golden mining gloves, but smithing gaunts are better for overall exp. Any thoughts/help would be greatly appreciated!

  14. well that's a little unfortunate (although completely reasonable). I guess I'll just have to hope I get lucky then

As far as the whole buying spins thing, does Jagex have no qualms about selling spins despite their stance against rwt? Seems a little hypocritical imo... It would probably also be cheaper to just buy 200m from a third party website than to buy spins and hope you get it, although I know nothing of the gp:dollar ratio so maybe not.

  15. I just came back to the game a few days ago and this new squeal of fortune thing is kind of neat

Yesterday I had the chance to get a 200m prize and missed it by one spot, so naturally I began to wonder, is it possible to beat Squeal of Fortune? Kind of like that dude who beat the old game show Press Your Luck. Is there any rhyme or reason to the way your spins go? Is it possible to predict where your spin will land based on where you start the spin at? Or is it always randomized?

I'm sure someone out there has thought about it before, just wondering if anyone knows if it would be possible, because if so I need to figure out the pattern and get them chips!

  16. I remember when I did it I would go back and forth between thugs and pyramid plunder

you do a few hours of thugs and your wrists die so you just move over to the pyramid for a few levels and then go back

once you hit 81 though i'd just go plunder all the way to 99

  17. I mean yeah ultimately it probably won't be a big deal but the fact that they feel it is perfectly acceptable to just rescind this liberty even within the private realms of our RS lives is a pretty big issue I think. I know it's their game and they have every right to do whatever they want with it but it shouldn't be the case that they abuse that right by imposing unjust rules on a whim.

In other news, does anybody know how long the mute will last if one is automuted?

  18. A whole lot of this game has changed. You are actually returning just before some big changes in "Runescape 3" are planned.

The whole "evolution of combat" is a bit too big to really summarize, but a lot of things changed about combat. Some things are still off, but I personally still enjoy the game.

F2P can now train to lv5 in member only skills, and the tutorial area for members has become f2p.

I guess I can catch up on combat via the wiki hopefully?

Actually, since I'm sure summarizing everything would be too tedious, I have no qualms about checking the wiki, but if you or anyone else could just tell me what topics to look up, that'd help a ton.

One other thing I had noticed is that I fought a level 8 goblin and when I killed it I got 40 exp, but no exp when I would land blows. Does this mean that if you tag team a monster that only the person who does the most damage gets exp? And gets all the exp?

More importantly, if you die in combat, does that mean you get no experience?

Welcome (or 'Welcome back'? I dunno?) to the Tip.It (aka: Rune Tips) Community. Please enjoy your stay, watch out for the lunatics, and come play in the Forum Games! Yes, of course, don't forget to check the rest of things out... LOL!

~Mr. D. V. "Maybe a lunatic just greeted you?" Devnull

Yeah I joined shortly before I quit last time and only posted a couple times so it's kind of like my first time hehe. Thanks!

  19. How's everyone doing? Summer's starting and I've been thinking it might be time to check out RS again for a month or two.

I logged on today to check my old stats and see what was up and I saw so many crazy things! The last time I played was in 2011 I think, in December, right before auras or something were coming out.

When I logged in I saw people with skill totals instead of combat levels next to their name; all my members skills were yellow and said 5/##. Does this mean nonmems can do members skills for a brief time? I was also in a location I didn't recognize to previously be in the f2p world.

Also I had 3000 hp, but I assumed that was just because I'm so cool.

Can anybody kind of summarize/point me in the right direction as to what's happened in my absence? And is it worth it to get back into the game? Part of me really wants to as I burnt out at 95 mining and I'd like to finish it up, but I'm not sure if it's the best idea to start playing again; I know a lot of people really hated the way the game was going way back when, and I wouldn't be surprised if I hear a similar sentiment now.
