They have their heads all the way up their asses and I can only assume how hard it is to see what people want from up there.

They generally deal with only small segments of the playerbase which can be loud but each have their own agendas. The players they interact with a lot tend to be the few thousand that are on twitter or reddit, which means that an idea may appear popular in those groups yet still not be overly popular with players as a whole. I can't blame them for being surprised that an idea ended up being popular with the general playerbase.

I can, the topic was brought up on /r/runescape so many times. Plus that's their own fault for selectively frequenting social media sites but not spending time on other forums such as ours. So yes, I hold it against them.

So, their solution for the ded pvp on RS3 is to create a new game for pvp lel.

Though I have to say the idea is good, forcing everyone to have a clean slate eliminates having someone with maxed gear camping noob spots.

Although in time it'll be unplayable for newcomers due to the big level gap. Hope they realize this and do something about it.

I do like the fact that the accounts are connected so no need to have a bunch of accounts to be able to do this. Now I wish they did something about RS3 PvP, most likely that duel anywhere thing they've mentioned seems to be a step in the right direction

I don't see that being a problem. New players can and should simply stick to low-risk areas until they get their stats high enough to venture farther out. There are level restrictions similar to the ones in the Wilderness so it's not like the entire map will just be a noob massacre.

However, there is one glaring flaw with this release: Legacy Mode. This honestly comes across to me as Jagex waving the white flag when it comes to EoC PvP. The fact that rather than releasing separate EoC and Legacy servers like we have for the live game they force everyone to use Legacy Mode shows how little faith they have in their own combat system when it comes to PvP. I hope this doesn't indicate that they've given up on balancing EoC for PvP combat.

Well the best places to train at low levels (AFAIK) are the trolls in the cave north of Burthorpe... and that cave is like a +/- 25 combat level difference. So whenever there were too many players hogging the trolls I'd just farm lower level players instead since they give more XP and they respawn right next to the cave entrance, ready to return for another whoopin'

The Lumbridge catacombs have no combat restrictions, so I'd just walk through there and mow down everybody in my path since it's better XP than killing the monsters inside lol.

At one point I was out of run energy from chasing so many noobs to their deaths. There was one guy left but he was running the wrong way in the catacombs, towards a dead end. So I was just slowly walking towards him like some kind of horror movie villain, till finally I caught up w/ him and killed him when he was backed into a corner. His last words were, "Why"

Well while they don't have access to the best training methods like they do in RS3, things like killing cows in Lumbridge is still possible. It's slower and a bit old-fashioned but it'll get the job done.

  4. I wish these changes were made before f2p clan warring died off completely. I would've actually cared then.

Otherwise it's a neat little update. Not really great, not terrible. Just small little things that always needed doing but they never were able to. It's a good thing.

A neat little update, however it is obviously too little too late.

  5. I agree, but the only practical solution I could see to properly fix it would be to open up the whole lower half of the Fletching skill to free players, and I'm not sure Jagex would be so keen on that idea. Melee and Magic's component skills (smithing, even if it is a broken table, and runecrafting) are free to play enough to at least do most things.

By the way, assuming you are on RuneScape 3, you might try killing minotuars (with melee) as they drop bronze and iron arrows relatively often, to the best of my recollection anyway.

Minotaurs are also available in Old School RuneScape in the Stronghold of Security and they also drop arrows fairly frequently. In fact, they are a great monster for free players to train combat on!

    This needs to be fixed.

There's nothing broken about the way the system is as it stands. What do you expect Jagex to do, open up members-only skills to free players? Part of being a free player is having limitations because you don't actually pay to play the game. If you don't want those limitations you'll need to invest in membership.

Also, it doesn't take 30 minutes to run to Rimmington from anywhere in the F2P-accessible world. Plus, there's also an archery shop in Varrock which sells arrows so you can run there if it is closer.

You're essentially asking Jagex to convert a large chunk of the members version of the game to F2P content because you want to be able to access it for free. You can play the free portion of the game as much as you want without paying a dime and that's actually very generous. If you want access to members-only content, though, you'll need to purchase membership. You can't just expect Jagex, a business, to give it to you for free.

  6. As mentioned in the other replies, even updating and keeping up with the new content in RuneScape 3, as well as replacing long since changed content, requires a substantial amount of effort.

Theoretically, if we wanted to create more pages, i.e. Firemaking Training [OSRS], it could work, but then we have a major links problem. All of our tooltips and such are linked to RS3 databases, so someone would click on maple log and be brought to its information in RS3. We don't have any sort of framework for OSRS databases which is probably the first thing we would need, and I'm not sure building one would even be possible.

Even if we were able to extract out the old guides from Waybach Machine and got flooded with submissions and useful information to add on to and improve them, it's still an issue of sheer manpower. It takes time and effort to modify, code, check each page and verify that information is true. For the obvious security reasons we are unable to let people write and submit a page. Few of us actually even play Old School.

So while it is a nice idea and something that I wish we could do more of, at the moment it just doesn't seem possible or practical. The intersection of people who have the interest in RuneScape, the ability to code or willingness to learn, and have a significant amount of time to contribute is just too small.

Well I know HTML and CSS. I'm not sure what kind of CMS Tip.It uses but I'm sure it's nothing I couldn't get the hang of. I realize my post-count is rather low and my forum account is rather new but I've been using Tip.It for years. If you need help even on the RS3 side of things I'm available.

To be honest I'd love to see people not default to the wiki like they do now. Wikia is a terrible platform and while the wiki is full of quality information, it's also very disorganized and unstandardized. It'd be nice to have a fan site that is up-to-date and I'm willing to help make that happen to whatever extent I'm able.

  7. If they were going to do that, something like Fletching would seem most logical. While we can smith our own melee weapons and (mostly) craft our own runes, we have no way of making our own arrows! However, making a whole skill F2P seems somewhat unlikely. It could be a consolation prize when (if) they eventually put out another skill though, I suppose.

Honestly I think it'd be good to make fletching accessible to free players. If there were any skill that would make sense I think this one would because of the reasons you stated and because it can be trained anywhere unlike skills like agillity which require you to be in certain members-only areas.

  8. ^I do so wish they would stop pretending legacy is anything more than original momentum buffed up to what it should've been (comparable to full manual, but still not quite as good) with a nice shiny reskin to make it look like pre-NIS and hide ability bar.

After all all the other 'features' are nothing to do with legacy and are just general fixes to eoc (combat formula, poison tweaks, specials, changes to armour stats etc)

Even with momentum abilities randomly get used by your character.

  9. I think you have a real point as far as the tutorial is concerned, His Lordship. With Tutorial Island, it could be completed in around 15 minutes then once you hit the mainland you were on your own to do whatever you wanted. Now with the new Ashedale, the game gives you a specific line it wants you to follow as far as quests and such are concerned. It doesn't let you learn for yourself or do what you want to anymore. I think part of the magic of playing RuneScape for me back then was being able to learn at my own pace and instead of learning the game from a tutorial I learned from other players.

You also have a point as far as the interface is concerned. The NIS is extremely confusing to new players, especially with the new system they implemented with everything being in windows rather than in its own little box. The only real things that used to open up new windows in the old interface were the skill guides and the quest interface. Even then, it was a single window that was intuitive and easy to understand. While NIS allows a lot of freedom, it can be difficult to figure out how to use, especially when you don't even know what most of the things you're dragging around the screen are.

  10. The event isn't designed for someone to get all of the rewards from both sides. If a player chooses to so be it, but the point is for you to pick a side and fight for that side. The rewards come from fighting and collecting tears for that side.
