What are you talking about? I still get an email on my AOL account every time the Tip.it MySpace has an update.

Your Tip.ItSpace account still works? Dag. I lost the password to mine years ago.

I too am disheartened that there aren't posts on the forum.

But then again, I'm also incredibly guilty of not posting on the forum very much..

It's something everyone's guilty of at some point or other.
Also, some of the busiest posters were also some of those who got in the most trouble (I'm looking at you @Arceus, you bad apple ). Not all mind you, but some. They pushed discussions forward and sometimes they would descend into arguments which would sometimes drunkenly stumble into rule-breaking territory. Goodness knows I dealt with enough of them before I left. Mrs Chips said earlier that the staff and mods here were corrupt and working against the community, and except for obfuscator taking bribes ( :P) I know that we weren't and most of you know that we weren't (Kim dealt with that wonderfully already so I really don't want to get into it again, but bear with me here).

If I had a dollar for every forum warning I've gotten here.

  2. Remember when Sliske was all about hanging in the shadows and being mysterious? Welp, that's done.

And now Nomad is just after power? That's rather one dimensional.

Sliske was all about hanging in the shadows until he attained godhood, now he's basically Gielinor's version of Donald Trump.

What's sad about it?  You don't get players sitting on their laurels anymore, thinking that a 99 is just a matter of time.  This adds some more excitement and a bit more danger to skilling, so I'm all on board with it.

If Jagex did add high scores it'd cause more problems than anything else.  Hopefully this keeps 200M in all skills very difficult to attain for a very, very long time.

Because the player base, as with pretty much any game, has a group of basement dwellers who would dedicate their time to harassing those players whenever they log in.

Massive sweep of bots today/over the coming days on darkscape, quite a few 99 fishing/WC players will have been wiped. Some of the bot names were stupidly obvious though, obviously I won't name them (:<

If I were Jagex I'd have written a script to pick up on accounts being created with assembly line names (751John51, 523Mary45, etc) and flag them as bots for review.

Fact is - they need a new huge "hit" because they can't ride on RuneScape's success forever ...

    They have so far...

Yup and currently seems they will continue to do so for sometime. Joys of microtransaction culture right?

How long until the membership packages become season passes?

Would the annual premiere club packs and summertime 3-month packs not count as season passes?

  5. Play DarkScape | Free-to-Play Open World PvP

Into PvP, high-stakes trade and making your own way in a dangerous world? Do we have a surprise for you.

Try DarkScape now by logging on with your existing RuneScape account!

DarkScape is now live and playable for free! This experimental new game takes RuneScape and throws it into chaos, giving you free reign for intense combat and ruthless trade wars.

    • Wilderness rules everywhere means heart-pounding PvP combat.
    • Three separate economies and lucrative high-risk regions mean enticing prospects for enterprising merchants.
    • Most of RuneScape's content – completely free – and a fresh level 1 start means an adventure-filled, high-risk world for everyone.
    • RuneScape members get additional benefits to help with quicker progression.
    • Frequent updates, inspired by player activity.

    Why DarkScape?

With DarkScape, we're trying something new and exciting, taking RuneScape's wealth of content and changing the fundamental rules to create a whole new experience – something not possible in RuneScape itself.

The rule changes for DarkScape – fully detailed in the FAQ – are designed to encourage emergent gameplay of the most devious kind. Ever dreamed of forming a roaming clan of bandits? Fancy yourself a ruthless runite tycoon? Just want to find your fortune in a world with danger around every corner? DarkScape's the place to do it.

Based on RuneScape though it is, DarkScape is very much its own game. We've got some awesome ideas for future DarkScape content, and Mod Pi's going to be watching - making frequent changes, directly inspired by how you play the game.

    Get Involved!

We've kept DarkScape quiet so everyone can come to it completely fresh. This is a world for the taking with wit, guile and strength, and we can't wait to see what you do with it. It'll be your stories that bring it alive, and your feats that become its legends.

We've released DarkScape in a raw, formative state, so it can be driven from the earliest possible point by its community – realising its potential as an emergent, player-led game. This is your chance to be in at the start of something new – to help make a game that you want to play.

Give us your ideas and feedback on Reddit and the forums, and – most importantly – get in game and start backstabbing, brutalising and conniving.

Follow us @RSDarkScape for the latest DarkScape happenings, and Tweet#DarkScape to tell the world about your adventures.

Play DarkScape now, and check the FAQ if you have any questions.

  6. Interesting bitty in the press release Jagex sent out alongside the merch store piece. Bonds are lucrative business for them.

"Bonds are accrued either by purchasing them directly from Jagex or through bartering with other players. They have proved to be exceptionally popular with the game’s massive player-base since they launched in 2013, with more than 350,000 RuneScape Bonds transacted every month."

  7. I am going to quit after my year is up. Screw this game and all of you that play it.

Feel free to stop posting here since you hate the game and all of us.

I think a more interesting discussion is could Runescape survive an entire year of no new content to retrench and fundamentally fix the game. Would it be worth it to reinvent the game a bit. I certainly don't think their current model is good for the long term health of the game.

Probably not. The current model isn't healthy

"As for FoG, this was a Ninja Spotlight, so it was never intended to be a major update. It was also not rushed out like the dumb rumors suggest. In fact this was done quite a while ago, but we wanted to wait until FoG was on rotation again. As for feedback, some of you are making some good points that I would like to address in the coming weeks. For example I think upping the charges on gloves sounds reasonable."

I'd feel better being under the impression that the update was half-assed or rushed than knowing that this is what Jagex considers fully thought out.

  9. so 3 times the loot and 2 times the XP, seems a bit overpowered to me? But they said nothing about what is different in combat levels and such... I take it that elite spawns are higher leveled?

Depends on how often they spawn. I assume not enough to make a big impact, but you know what they say about assuming, Jagex, and balancing.

Yeah, it's pretty dumb. There's no real reason to log on more than every 2 days lol.

There's no more reason to log on...

    Then quit.

I have, more or less. I don't pay for membership anymore. I log in to do some f2p stuff every now and then.

Luckily there's old school if you don't want basic MMO features implemented ten years too late and on an engine that can barely support it.

Are you killing the Mithril Dragons? Just asking once more to be sure.

Now I remember why I never finished the Barbarian training, because it relies on an untradeable rare drop from Mith dragons.

Nothing like pushing even more content behind an RNG wall to foster more resent from your players.

It's a 100% drop from the confused barbarian.

Confused barbarians don't drop chewed bones.

This would be a valid argument if the bones weren't really quite common.

Drop rate is like 1/42 (52?) and with how easy miths are since eoc etc klling ~100 for a bone unless your luck sucks isnt the end of the world.

My luck sucks. Been there for two hours today alone and haven't gotten any bones.

Sweet. Been waiting 8 years for them to mention Archaeology as a possible skill... Well now elite skill.

So maybe we'll finally get to finish that boat they have been building the last how many years?

Oh hell, this game is littered with the half baked ideas that never became anything.

I miss the old days when Jagex would do some minor update and then do a graphical upgrade on Lumbridge, promise to update the other towns, and then never follow through on it up until their next engine upgrade when the cycle would start over again.

    Catholic Church approves.

Erm, I don't recall Saradomin having reassign Father Lawrence to Varrock cause he was doing inappropriate things to the children of Entrana...

Though that would make a startling and eye opening quest to trail that backstory!

That's because Gielinor never developed an eye witness news.

  15. Introducing "The Committed" title. This title is awarded to anyone who has spent a total of ten thousand Runecoins in Solomon's Store. This title is a requirement for Comp cape. :P

Don't give them any ideas, although 10k runecoins would be 52 bonds, or 466 mil on the GE if you bought them all at the current exchange price of 8.9 mil.

For a comper, 466 mil doesn't seem like much.
