  1. I do quests.

I end up 10 levels higher than zones I'm in.

I have to hurry and run dungeons to get gear for the dungeons I can play.

Now raid finder is the same BS.

I just can't understand how WOW can be so popular.

They can't even do the basics of role playing games right.

    You have one level system.

Not two that [bleep]s you over at every turn.

Thank god I'm almost 90 and there is a cap.

Maybe I can train some pets or work on my professionals without leveling out of the game.

  2. The game has been broke since God Wars and coinshare inflation followed up by waves of bots. (You just have to ignore the glaring problems if you want to keep playing.)

The official plan to complete runescape in as little time as possible and with as little fun as possible is to camp the lastest bosses 24-7 and then buy skills.

That's been going on for 5 years now and spawning armies of elitist who preach efficiency crap until they get banned for cashing out or demonstrating that cheating is the highest form of efficiency.

  3. To each his own.

That being said, this has to be the only RPG game ever where you wish you didn't level up.

If you don't level in dungeons then you don't accumulate gear to level in future dungeons.

In fact at level 80, I managed to level myself out of dungeon finder.

    How?

Well it told me that I need 180 inventory level (lol blizzard) and I only had 175.

So what gear was below 180 you may ask?

    Only two things, the trinkets.

Yeah that's right trinkets, the trinkets... holy shit....

    What trinkets did I have?

Well, I had one that removed CC and one that gave me and extra melee attack.
Very nice and scale with level.

Did I find anything better in my travels up to 80, [bleep] no?

So, I had to buy something useless at the auction house just to get back into the dungeons only to get one shot because of the ridiculous difficulty spike from lich king to cataclysm in NORMAL DUNGEONS.

Good thing I'm only buying 1 month membership cards at a time.

    When I hit a wall I'm out.

  4. You know it's quite possible that some of those men actually played with the toys when they were little kids.

Not that I did per se, although I can readily admit to having some care bears.

But, I have no desire to relive my early childhood by going to a convention on them.

  5.

Some more info given out about CoinShare:

    Hello again everyone!

I won't lie, this will be an inconvenience for some bossers. Rather than getting the money directly, you'll now have to sell the items yourself. However, that convenience was coming at the expense of the long-term health of the economy and ultimately reducing the value of everyone's gold.

    Mod Jack

    Five years too [bleep]ing late!

It's a joke that the lightbulb finally turns on to coinshare inflation at Jagex HQ.

  6. This seems like quite an update. Sadly it looks like it will be out of my reach for quite a long time to come.

    Don't take too long,

It will be called dead content in 6 months by the youtube allstars and you won't be able to find a team unless you got the best gear including whatever comes out of this.

  7. Vorago is the second coming of the corp.
The seismic crap is the spirit shields all over again.

It will be at least 5 years before you can even consider them in circulation, not that the divine currently is cheap by any imagination.

I am just saying that an average player could probably earn the money in game to get it in several months.

I guess I'm the only one that sees a problem with this.

I think we all remember how corp/nex teams used to require divine or ely to get in or hell they probably still do.

Runescape does gear score just like WOW.

A-hole-erly knows no bounds and if you reward a small group of people with an extra bit of power they will run the rest of the playerbase out of town.

Jagex should care because it takes more than the hardcore "Kings of PVM" to finance their little company.

  8. The focus of the game needs to be shifted back on the playing the game and the actual content as opposed to trading rare shit or mass consumptions of raw materials for achievements.

If you want to flush RWT down the drain, then you create all new content from this date forward with emphasis on just that.

That means eliminating trading of rare shit, i.e. making difficult items to acquire untradeable or easier to get.

You eliminate production skills using tradable raw materials or severely reduce the quantity of such involved in achievements.

As for the older content, well what's done is done.

Rewriting the game to get non-players out just pisses off your current player base. (as we saw with the end of free trade)

You really just have to update them out of the game over a long period.

  9.

it just seems like we're mistaking the means for the end

i'd rather there be a reason to have level 90 weapons, and make that the crazy thing that few people can obtain with a lot of work, rather than have a ton of level 90+ people, and make the weapon the actual reason for having a weapon, when it should just be the entrypoint into the endgame itself

Exactly my point that RS has become Cookie Clicker. You work for upgrades for the sake of having upgrades. You don't need them to kill the uber hard superboss 4000 because HE is the one who drops the item. They are far too expensive to use in PvP, and they cost too much through degradation to use in ordinary PvM. So...

    WTF is a cookie clicker?

Runescape is just a rudder less ship.

    Progression is fun.

    Pprogression is the core mechanic.

How much progression is in Runescape updates this year?

Well we got what 3 quests of merit this year.

We got level 90 weapons, 2/3 of which have accessibility issues, and 1/3 will go the way of the spirit shields and be fodder for RWT and 1%ers for the next 5 years.

We got 1 new skill that would be useful if you are leveling all the other skills from say level 1.

We got level 90 gear which turns to dust in a short amount of time and has accessibility issues for what it is. (BTW, what it is is garbage)

    That's it.

The rest is fluff, sideways action, and shit stuffed in-between shit we already know.

That's not cutting it for a progression game.

Runescape is going to continue to hemorrhage customers.

  10. Fizzcrank.

My goals are loremaster title, beat all dungeons and heroic versions once, maybe make a pet team to beat all the pet champions, and then LFR all the raids once.

I think the WOW end game is retarded.

You grind for purple crap and then it's like the quality of the green stuff in first zone of the next expansion.

Dungeon blues are good enough for me.

I never got into the whole gear fetish that blizzard loves like in diablo 3.

You beat the game once or twice and then it's boring ass.

I couldn't care less about bigger items or harder difficulty modes.

  11.

What's the point of making content that only a handful of people are actually going to play? Especially when it unbalances the rest of the game as a result, because there may as well not be T90 magic?

How is that good game design, again?

It is good game design. There was a boss fight in a DA2 dlc which was found by fewer than 5% of players, and was so difficult fewer than 10% of those who found it completed it and obtained the rewards. Did Bioware decide this meant they should stop making this kind of content? No, they conducted a feedback poll and found overwhelming support for the presence of that content, as even the players who did not experience it or could not complete it appreciated that it was there, and that there was aspirational content present. The issue with RS players is they have a sense of entitlement, that they should be able to get the best gear. Well, no, the majority of players shouldn't  be able to.

Incidentally, the same argument is what is holding us back from truly divergent storylines in game. Players and game developers need to move past the idea that content needs to be seen and played by all players. It doesn't. Thankfully most high quality developers are now doing so.

DA2 you mean dragon age 2?

That game was such shit that most people put it down after they found out it was crap compared to the first and the story line was just trash and couldn't carry it.

So looking at who found what isn't really going to tell you much.

  12.

If you put time into making money, like you're supposed to...

    No just no.

Nobody cares about GP except RWTers.

Except that it is realistic to get a few bil entirely without flipping, merchanting, or getting lucky. If your income is 4m gp/hour, it's 250 hours to get 1b. That's the same as 99 divination.

    Laughable, not even remotely realistic.

The biggest problem with Runescape is the big ticket items.

You drop one and your set.

You buy all your skills with one drop.

It ruins the entire game and fills it up with knucklehead elitist that spout inane shit about how you have to train in the most expensive way possible.

It just shits on 99% of the content in Runescape.

Jagex repeatedly fails to responsibly handle tradeable item rarity.

I have would have no problem with the tectonic bath robes if they were untradeable.

Sure they are garbage because they go to dust in 2 hours, but at least if you couldn't trade them on the GE then it wouldn't shit up the game.

Also, for everybody comparing this game to WOW. The good stuff in WOW is untradeable.

So it's not possible to ruin your own game experience or others.

Also, PVM is far more than Nex or Voragmo.

So let's not even remotely say that you don't PVM if you aren't fighting raid monsters.

  13. Really though if you play 4-5 hours per day, you shouldn't have any trouble earning 500m+ per month, just from killing frosts or something.

If you don't have money, it's because you haven't earned it.

    This is just ridiculous.

I think 500 mil is probably more than my lifetime earning in like 8 years of playing. (excluding the 300mil I bought off Jagex with 50 gloves of samid)

Please go camp frost dragons every day for 4-5 hours for months to earn a level 90 armor that turns to dust in a couple of hours and isn't much better than level 80 or even 70.

    I don't play that game.

    Casuals don't play that game.

  14. Level 90 shields are the only thing that interests me.

And it only interests me in the sense of are they actually any good with the port's armor.

I bet the spirit shields are still better because they have a damage reduction and this whole armor percent versus crap system doesn't seem to amount to a hill of beans like pre-EOC system.

Also, if they have to copy WOW with all this raid shit, can't they actually copy the good parts of WOW.

You know like dungeon finder and the immersiveness of the large zones and dungeons that actually take time to explore.

  15. TBH, what was the big problem with RWT in the first place? The fact that it went into someone else's wallet?

People can, and have always, bought their way to the top. Jagex now endorses it, so long as it's done through them. But why?

What was sooo broken about the economy that Jagex had to poke their nose in and officially support RWT? What has been fixed in the economy since Bonds' release?

I've known dozens and dozens of players who have RWTed using a third-party. Some buying only a few M, others buying and selling a few B. When it came to a company, none of them were scammed. None of them lost their credit information. They are a company, a business, and they have a reputation to uphold. After-all, a reputation is the main attraction for a RWT company.

So, what's changed since Bonds were released except for the pocket the money goes into?

    A reputation to uphold?

    What kind of reputation, criminal?

There business is fraudulent at the core.

The real world equivalent is me running around selling property rights to Yosemite national park.

  16. I started again.

I was intrigued by an article stating that you could get raid quality gear at this timeless island.

Also, that there was an easy mode for raids and a dungeon and raid finding tool.

I like the lore and questing but like 90% of the storyline and 60% of the content was locked from me since the absurd hike in difficulty between world map and dungeons.

Anyhow, so far so much better.

Of course, the first thing I did was delete my level 75 shit ass rogue.

    I went protection paladin.

It's OP, actually, it's a complete character and as far as I can tell the only one.

It has AOE damage, defense, and self healing that is consistent with incoming damage.

Instead of getting my ass handed to me, I am taking names.

    I haven't tried PVP though.

It will probably suck there since you have to have some separate gear or some crap since there is this new resiliency stat.

  17.

60k damage is like what an hour with Jagex's "big numbers are fun" constitution system.

60k hits, not 60k damage.  There is a huge differece.  If you bothered to read carefully, you would know that.

It's a 100,000 charges if you look in the wiki.

No idea what a charge is but I can take a conservative guess and say it's a point of damage. (after 8 years with Jagex, i know them well)

So there you get 2 hours... hoo hum.

Oh and if you wanted more facts it takes 84 scales and 6 pieces of thread to make the armour set.

Thats 87mil if scales are sold at the GE starting price of 1mil each.

Very unlikely since the only things that drop them are the stuff in the day glow place with the fake guthix. and 3 slayer tasks (spiritual mages, aquanites, and dark beasts).

So 87mil+ for 2 hours of styling like a space jelly.

Award winning update here, as awesome as that pvp armour was....

this is a way better update than that prestige system.

We definitely had to vote that shit down and save the sanctity of the highscores.

Hey, do it for the no-lifers if you haven't. They need your help.

After 8 years with Jagex, you appear to be comparatively clueless about how armors degrade.  There is no armor in game that takes one charge per point of damage.  However, every single degradable armor degrades based on number of hits.  So I am gonna go out on a limb and say that, since ALL degradable armors (including sirenic and tectonic) degrade based on number of hits and not damage taken, so also must sirenic and tectonic degrade based on number of hits and not damage taken.

Clearly, you do not actually know anything about Jagex, notwithstanding the short time you have been playing Runescape.

What's long if 8 years is short. 10,12? (I don't think you can get more than 12 and be legit)

I remember when armour degradation used to make sense. When it was based on a combat timer. It was simple and it worked.

Then the PVP armour came out and the cry babies tantrumed over the armour disappearing from monster tags as they ran about.

So instead of making PVP armour decent, they made the whole armour degradation mechanic a nebulous black hole of charges, hits, rounds, damage, dice rolls and go knows whatever.

The best was when different armour had different degrade machanics.

    Oh wait, they still do.

My Tzhaar armour shows charges and my virtus armour shows percents.

Yeah so what does space jelly show when it takes a hit? Now that's a 100mil gold coin question.

Or if you have 2 billion then you can figure out tectonic bath robes.
