  1. The target attribute (the part of html (or website code)) which is used to specify that a link is to open in a new window, has been depreciated in xhtml (the next version of html.) This is because it should be up to the USER to decide how links open, not the website. For links you want to open in a new window, try shift-clicking, or middle clicking.

  2. I don't know how often the RS news tidbit on the front page is updated, but tying that into an automated forum post would void the need for mods to start the thread. Modifying the script to post "game update" news in the general stickies for discussion would do the job nicely. This all depends on how buried the PHP coders are unfortunately.
That script works in exactly the opposite way ;) It pulls the latest Runescape news from the Runescape news forum, which is updated by staffers.
  3. I sometimes look at the topic author, but only rarely. I won't not open a topic because of its author, but sometimes when I see topics by friends or people who've been around for a long time, I'll open them regardless of the topic title.

  4. Nested quotes are not necessarily the problem - long quotes are the problem. It's just that usually there aren't many long posts, and as such they rarely get quoted. However, it's a pain equally as much when someone quotes a huge post as when someone quotes 5 nested quotes.

Perhaps a character limit on quotes could work? :-?

  5. er, I'm guessing you're not stupid enough to have disabled images from external websites? That would mean all the tip.it signatures and images and everything would be out aswell though...

Could it be some dns caching thingy? Like.. you try to access the page in Fx, it doesn't manage to get through to upload.wikimedia.org, then it finally makes the connection but Fx has already lost interest in it, then you try to load the same page in another browser and it gets through fine, because the connection thingy is 'fresh' - hmm, I don't really know what I'm talking about here :) But you could test it by accessing a page you've not been to before in another browser, and then loading it in Fx...

    Otherwise, I dunno :-k

  6. You can play pool by yourself, and it's great for 2 people, and okay fun for 4 people. Table tennis you can play with 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and more people (play ins and outs) (although the amount of action you get decreases as the number of people increases.)

So really I think pool is much better for a home - mainly because you can practice my yourself (sure, playing table tennis against the table is good for your hand-eye coordination, but it's not what I'd call fun) and generally you don't have lots of mates around at your house all the time (which is what makes table tennis lots of fun.)

Also in pool, if you're playing someone who is less capable than yourself, you can go for harder shots and challenge yourself, wheras in table tennis you either beat them really quickly or you look silly just tapping it back at them and that's not much fun either.

So yeah, my vote goes for pool table, unless you have something odd like 2 siblings (so there's 3 of you) and you all always like to do things together, in which case table tennis would probably be better.

The point about the cost of a good pool table is a valid one though :-k

  7. Well currently we're using a Geforce2 MX so... anything's going to be a step up from there.

For me personally, this card is fine :) Runs Firefox, msn, IRC, notepad... but my brother's into gaming, likes his rts, rpg and fps. Our old card was an Fx 5500 IIRC, couldn't be positive about that though. The fan siezed up, we got it replaced but by that stage the whole card was overheated and it just crashes now.

So yeah, basically we want the card to be able to support whatever the PC is going to support.

We've no need to buy a new motherboard, we don't want to get the top of the range card, so a few rungs down the ladder (which is what most AGP cards are from what I can ascertain) is fine.

  8. To be a mod you can't, just be yourself and probably report a few topics from time to time if you see ones that need the mods' attention.

For TET, probably go to lots of TET events and get involved, make suggestions, perhaps run a few of your own parties.

Bear in mind that I am not a staff and all the above is just hypothesis.

  9. Most likely that is because the server hosting the website is misconfigured. Can you give us an example website where this problem occurs?

You could check under tools -> options -> content -> file types -> manage and see if php is listed (if it is, which I doubt, delete the reference to it.)
