Not very realistic at the moment, but I reckon it'll happen eventually

have you seen the front page recently

As of right now Rank 11-25

Very clsoe right now for Rank #11 with less than 100k Exp apart! I thought that Drumgun would have been 1st to get to 200M Exp but he didn't get on for a while. I also posted wondering how much they all spent/items used to get to 200M Exp so quickly?! I still haven't seen the Level 120 Emote. I think that the RuneMetrics will be nice to see all of the Data for Skills/Drops.

I remember seeing somewhere that the first person to 120 had spent around 10 billion to get to that point.

I originally didn't train on release out of sheer laziness. Now, I'm extremely glad that I haven't. But with volatile the changes have been post release, I'm honestly terrified to start training the skill.

Same, I thought this skill might have gotten me back in after about 4 months of not caring but seems like way too much [cabbage] is going down atm. Just from browsing the thread, it seems like they really just completely missed the items that need to have a sink.

Exactly what happened. How [bleep]ing stupid can they be.

Careful now. You don't want to challenge them. They can alway make things worse.

    You are so right haha

Invention Update | Some Immediate Changes

    We have made mistakes.

Invention is an extremely complicated skill that interacts with almost every object in the game – as such there was always going to be a need to refine and evolve the skill within the live game. However, It is obvious at this early stage that there have been several areas where the skill has not functioned as we envisaged and we apologise.

    Changes Today

Therefore, we have just made the following changes today to fix some of the issues that have been caused. These include:

    • 1800% increase to the experience gained for disassembly and siphoning of Augmented Gear.

The experience gained by playing differed significantly from that which was intended in design – as such we are realigning the experience to be in line with our original vision and expectations.

    • 50% reduction in the experience gained for using materials to fill gizmos.

This method has become the main experience generator for a large number of players and has clearly been more rewarding than is beneficial for the game, particularly in the case of those with substantial in-game personal wealth. There was always an expectation that players with solid banks would be well equipped to progress rapidly, but this has been more successful for those players than intended by design.

    Further changes to come

We are also going to look deeper into some of the perks, with an eye to improving the usefulness of perks overall. However, this is something that will take a little time, so will not, in all probability, be an immediate change.

It was also not our intention when we released the skill that players would be able to max out the skill within 48 hours of release. This has caused some concern, obviously, and we are aware of various rumours flying around. We do take bug abuse and similar unfair advantages very seriously and investigate thoroughly any potential cases that come to our attention, using our detailed monitoring tools. Where we find that someone has broken the rules of RuneScape, we will take the appropriate action.

In the meantime, your feedback and comments are incredibly valuable to us – please keep that feedback coming and we’ll continue to look to improve Invention.

    The RuneScape Team

  5. And therein lies the problem with runescape updates. It's either dead content or OP.

At the end of the day though, the less power creep in osrs, the better. I would rather live in a world where there are no updates, rather than one that has updates that consistently creep up dps/xp rates. I would say that osrs is actually an already complete game. There is very little that we are missing. Maybe some quality of life things. Idk.

I'm quite glad that zeah brings in nothing that increases the max xp rates of any skill. You could say that the 90k/h farming minigame is broken, but an efficient player won't do that since trees are 800k+ an hour. Soul/blood runecrafting is only broken in the aspect that it is 75% afk, which goes against the fundamental aspect of what runecrafting is, a high apm/focus skill.

But to bring it back to the topic of discussion, without updates to a game, it's population will disintegrate. The hype of zeah and it's update will keep players in the game, which can only be a healthy thing for the game itself. The more osrs players the better really. An update that has taken up a lot of devs time and brings in nothing objectively broken, I'll take that.

07 should not have any updates period IMO.  People wanted to go back and play that version fine.  Leave it as it and let them play it.

Wow so many names from the past in those posts!  Started in 2002 myself.  Memories!  Wish I realised how expensive r2h's were at the time and pked for them more!  My rs career would be so different haha.

You're telilng me. I wish I didn't sell my p hats and santa hats, I could have relogged on and sold them today for actual money. Sigh lol

I remember buying a santa hat for 50k and a week later selling it for 250k and how rich I was..... Whoops

I can top that. I gave away my collection of party hats to Krest. They were just clogging up my bank space, and not valuable at all at the time.. (well, under 10k anyway)

Heh. I've gotta say that I had a bit better luck with my p-hats. Many people don't seem to remember the time of great Dupe. :)

Altought I had p-hats from the original drop party I also got my slice from Kaitnieks "unofficial" drop party. Also I had a pleasure to know one of those guys who could use Autorune or some other software to dupe any items in the game. I remember a guy named Kossu giving me 3-4 full p-hat sets at that time. Many were banned at the time when a lot of duped items were found from their bank accounts. I was cunning like a fox and distributed those party hats to many account so the number wasn't so great in an individual bank account.

Of course all the fun shiet happened years after when Runescape got populated and amount of active players were multiplied like with 200x. I think I had like 6-8 phats left when friend told me that prices of phats had sky rocketed, lol. At that point a price for party hat varied between 100 - 500 million depending on the color. I remember making like 2000 millions(2billions) by selling the hats. Back then people paid 4-6EUR / million for the in-game money. That was a good income during my studies. :)

The great dupe!!  I remember logging on that evening after it had happened and a friend of mine party hats and wouldn't share :(.

yup!  I had a bad habit of making accounts playing for a day, not for 5 and forgetting login names and such.  But at the time I didn't care.  Well one of them got left behind with something like 40 Halloween masks.  RIP  :(.
