Well i'm now 350 words from finishing the 2000 word essay (they give a 10%+/- allowance so i'm doing 1800 words  ).

Getting very tired of writing it however and running out of things to say. I'm planning on a very long conclusion, to try and babble on at the end. Aiming for 40% never felt so satisfying.

I cannot wait until it is done, no more assessments due in in February and a trip to london and a week off half-way through, i cannot wait!

Time to get back to writing...after one more thread...

    Blogging time again.

Last night I went out to celebrate a friends 20th birthday. To say nightly, I had a very heavy night, although at the time it didn't feel it, when I woke up today I could really tell it was.

We went on a pub crawl, but ended up only going to 3 pubs. First me and a friend went to a pub around the corner from our halls called the Horn in Hand and had a few drinks while waiting for everybody else who was coming out (who all live either in houses or in the case of two of the women, in another city). We had a few drinks there, then came back to my flat to have some more drinks as to not spend much money. Finally everybody was ready, so we headed down to the Pendulum bar, which is a rather Gothic pub near the market square. I didn't have much to drink there, but all that I had prior was starting to hit me. We then split up as a group, me, a guy from my halls and two women went to a bar called flares. It was one of the most funny things I've seen for ages.

Flares is a 70's style bar, mainly full of 30-50 year old's. Obviously we are nowhere near that age. Me my mate went to the bar to get drinks and left the two girls sitting down. When we got back, the girls were being hit on by some 40 year old guy, and I've not laughed so hard in weeks. Obviously the guy got turned down, but he was not the last to try. Eventually, after having a fair amount of drinks, i still didn't feel too drunk.

We all headed to Mcd's which proved again to be funnier than expected. We got our food and sat down, it was fairly empty in there, so we could hear almost everything anybody said. A drunk guy came in (at least i hope he was drunk after what he said). He walked up to the woman on the tills and said to her "Are you really a guy? you look like it. If not, did you used to be one?" In a situation like that, it's really hard to know what to do, couldn't laugh as the girl would have seen and it would have been really harsh. Obviously the guy got thrown out by the manager. But he was outside the window, and kept staring at the girls i was with. They told me so i turned around and just stared back at him. What i didn't expect was for him to come back in and start on me. Fortunately in his drunk state, it wasn't hard for some other customers to talk to him and distract him, and get him to leave. It really could have been a night to remember.

After that, we came back to my flat for a bit. They needed to go grab their car keys from a house up the street, but it was fairly cold and they were both in fairly skimpy clothes, so I let one borrow my favourite hoody and my mate let the other borrow his hoody. So we then had to walk what seemed like a mile to get the keys, then headed back to my flat. My mate had to go back to his so it ended up with me and the two girls heading back to mine. About half an hour later they left, but annoyingly forgot to leave the hoodies. Luckily I'm going up to Lincoln to see them on Wednesday so i'll get them back then.

So that was a fun night, I woke up this morning feeling incredibly rough, and had to go to a Seminar that I'd totally 'forgotten' to do the pre work for. So i felt terrible during it, and couldn't really do any of the work. I got that out of the way, and I'm not back in my flat writing this waiting until it's time to go back to Uni for a Lecture. I think i'll have a quiet night tonight and save my money for a night out in Lincoln on Wednesday.

Today was a fairly average day. Woke up around 10am to get ready for a lecture at 12 noon. Annoying hour bus ride means I have to get up about 2 hours before so I can get everything sorted.

Had a 2 hour gap between that lecture, and a seminar, which was actually pretty fun. The topic was the Medieval church, which to most will probably sound rather boring, but i found it quite fascinating. Found out quite a bit of stuff i didn't already know, which is the main reason i like learning history, as i keep finding out new things.

It has however been an average day, came back from that seminar, ate a whole packet of 150g custard creams, which was nice, but the last two took some eating, but wasn't going to just leave them. I'll probably get some salad pita's soon, then go up to Tesco's to get some milk and drink for tonight.

Thursday means Rock City night, which is awesome, i really like that place. And as i don't have any lectures until 3pm tomorrow, i can have a good night and hopefully drink enough to get me fairly hammered.

    p.s Rate the blog

Well, leading off from the last entry of me being very ill, I went to bed at about 7pm, the earliest I've been to bed since around the age of 10. It did me good to have a fairly good nights sleep.

Unfortunately, I had a lecture today at 11. It may not sound early, but i have to be at the bus stop an hour before the lecture starts to get there on time, and i like to be out of bed an hour before i leave home to give myself enough time to wake up and get ready. So getting out of bed at 9 is what i had to do, and is what i did not enjoy.

It wasn't a bad morning, met a friend at the bus stop randomly, so had a fairly fun bus journey, albeit a slow one, as the traffic was appalling. The lecture was good, we met a lot of the different people who would be teaching us on different blocks throughout the year at different times. It is amazing the different types of people that end up teaching history. One looked like a janitor, one looked like he could be a wrestler, one is an internet blogger, and one of the women is a very good looking woman haha! Annoyingly there was a fire alarm halfway through which wasted some time before the second half which was a short intro by what i would say is the best looking librarian in the world! Blonde, average height, very good face, and well, I'll stop there. Lets just say My eyes were fairly focused on one thing during that second half.

Now I'm back home bored with nothing to do for the rest of the day. I really want to buy roller-coaster tycoon and play it here when I'm bored, i don't know why but I've got a hankering to play that game.

Well I'm not literally going to die, but I feel incredibly rough. My eyes are burning, i can't stop coughing which is making my throat burn, I can't move my eyes left/right as it kills my head, and my nose won't stop running.

Went to bed at 10pm last night and thought it would give me a chance to recover, did it hell lol. I'm doing some clothes washing right now, as soon as that's done I'm going to bed (or might eat some food first not sure). But for sure I'm having a very early night.

That's about it for today, I can't really say much because I'm just ill, and its horrible, and I hate it. :(

Well today was my first official day at Nottingham Trent Uni.

    It didn't go well.

First off I woke up today feeling horrid, I still do now, even though I did not drink at all yesterday. My head is throbbing, I cannot look left/right without moving my head as it kills my eyes, and I've felt fairly queezy all day.

Alas, I still had to travel the 10 mile, 45 min bus ride up to my campus to buy a bus pass to save me a few hundred pounds over the year. Unfortunately, after queuing for nearly half an hour there, they said they don't accept cash. So I got back on the bus, travelled back into the city centre and had to queue for around an hour and a half at the city travel shop which accepts cash. The queue was out of the door, and went for about 20m along the street. After that, I finally walked back to my flag with my bus pass, only to open my laptop and see that my first lecture had already started. For some reason I thought it started an hour later than it actually did. So I sprinted down to the bus stop to get on yet another bus, 45 mins later finally get to the uni, halfway through the lecture. Luckily it was only introductory material so I can get away with missing it.

Well I'm finally back at my flat, feeling just as bad as this morning, so I'm planning an early night in, probably go to bed around 10 ish and watch some peep show.
  7. Danqazmlp
Today is my night in and day off (finally!) I've done barely anything stressful today.

My parents have come up to Notts to see a concert, so they took me out for a meal, and my god was it good! I felt like being sick after because I had eaten so much, and for just under £7! 'Big plate special' with roast chicken, so lovely. Two large Yorkshire's, stuffing, 2 chicken breasts, peas, carrots, roasts, cauliflower and broccoli all topped off with some gorgeous gravy. I don't think I'll be eating for the next 3 days

I don't have many plans for the rest of the day. I might watch the last two series of Peep show, but after that I'm stuck for what to do on my night in (could play RS I suppose). Still need to do some washing and sort all my bedding out, but that can wait until later I suppose, or I could just leave the washing until tomorrow :) . I feel like just being lazy today!

Woohoo, finished at about 11pm. Had enough time for a quick read-through of both pieces of work then quickly printed them out, submitted them online and have now washed my hands of them for the night.

As a reward to myself for doing them both, i am going to buy a hefty Mcdonalds meal tomorrow after handing them in. Double Big Mac, Large fries and a Large coke. <3:

Now my next port of call is the 14th Feb when i get a week off University. Officially it is a 'Events week' where they have various academic events and random lectures, but none are compulsory, which means a week off in Danqazmlp's English.

Time to do nothing for two weeks, wooo!

Well as i said in my last entry, I have a 750 word assignment and a 2000 essay to do for Friday. The 750 word assignment is now complete (albeit at 837 words which I will ask my tutor whether it is acceptable or not). It really is hard to summarise three 20 page long articles into 250 words each.

Well that is a load off my chest, one more and then i am free for February.

I have work tomorrow afternoon, annoyingly i start 2h after my lecture finishes. This is a pain in the rear end as the bus I take to get back to my flat takes roughly an hour. Meaning there is no point in me coming back. So I will have a nice 2h break with nothing really to do while waiting for my shift to start at work. At that time of the day i'm really not in a working mood so doing the essay is a no go zone. I will probably take my laptop, sit in my car for the 2h playing either Dragon age or Roller-coaster Tycoon. Such a fun day planned.

Well it's been a while. Have not had much time on my hands for the last few months due to University so this Blog became very neglected.

The work here in my first year is astounding. Unlike most other courses, my one has been laid out opposite to the others. Most courses have very little work at the beginning letting you transition into the course. However mine had so much work prior to Christmas, around 5 essays in a three week period. With this year having very little wok, while most others have it piling up. I have a 2000 word essay and a 750 word assignment to do for Friday, and after those nothing until March (or so I think). This is good and bad, bad because I will have a lot of free time while everybody else is in doing work, meaning I will actually have nothing to do. It will also mean however that the pieces of work around then will be very large.

Well that is the gist of my Uni work at the moment.

I'm very looking forward to February, not only do i get a week off (YAY), my dad also brought me and my family tickets to 'We will rock you' in London which should be good. He has been before and said it was something to see. Which also means a day out in the city. It's strange, you live your life near somewhere like London, yet never do anything the tourists would do. Time to be a Tourist.

That's enough for the moment, i will now try to do an entry at least once every two days, however with two pieces of coursework due for Friday, i'm not promising anything.
  11. Danqazmlp
Well it's been a while since I last made an entry, mainly because I haven't had a whole lot that can be shared here.

Well, lets see what has happened since I last made an entry.

I went to Lincoln for a night out with a friend at University there last Wednesday, it ended very badly. Trying to keep my reputation as a Mod here, so I will not give details, but it did take a couple of days to recover. I went home that weekend, and went out to see some friends who I hadn't for over a month. Unfortunately, as I was having a sober night, it was fairly boring, and only a bare minimum of people decided to come out, not was I was looking forward to when I went home.

Since then there really has not been anything interesting happen, been going to lectures and seminars, and been sat in my room for hours each day doing work.

Today, I had a lecture which finished at around 12, so i got home at around 1pm. As soon as I got in, I decided to start work on an assessment that is due in on Friday, so I can ask my tutor tomorrow if I have all the right information, name, Student number etc. on it. The problem with this assessment is that it is a 'note taking exercise'. Basically, they want to know that we can take the right notes, and that we know what information to take down. The problem is, and what everybody doing my course has said, is that usually notes are illegible to anybody but the person who has written them. Having to make them readable by the tutor is a strange thing to do, and makes the notes feel very strange. Because of this, and because i kept getting distracted, it took me almost 7 hours to do a 750 word assignment  .

I'm having an early night tonight after two early starts in a row, and then probable Rock city tomorrow night, or a pub crawl if I can convince some mates for it.

Not looking forward to the weekend, I have two essays to do, one for Friday, one for Tuesday. But then nothing until December which is good.

I think that's about it, as i said, not the most interesting week. Not sure when the next entry will be as I have a fair amount of work to get done in the next few days.
  12. Danqazmlp
I'm going to run out of names for each entry soon, there are only so many variants i can use.

Today has been another average day, but last night was a great night out.

Was out at Rock City last night, I absolutely love that place. It is also so close to my halls it's unbelievable, it's right behind my halls. Annoyingly I find it so expensive to get drunk now-days. I know I wasn't drunk last night as I can remember exactly how much I had. Two bottles of cider, 3 Jagermeister shots, and 5 Jagerbombs, all in the space of around half an hour. Not a whole lot of drink, but I would expect it to get me much more drunk than it did annoyingly. Still, i had a great night, the music there was good, although a couple of the women I went with weren't too keen on it.

Didn't have to get out of bed until 1pm today for a 3pm lecture which was also great, the lecture was fairly boring though, it is funny how little some people know about history. I admit, it wasn't a history lecture but a Global studies one, but it was on the history of globalisation.

Not had anything to do tonight, I'm feeling fairly homesick this weekend I have to admit. As a lot of the people I know have gone home this weekend, I now have nothing to do until Sunday night. I'm unsure what to do next weekend, being Halloween would be nice to spend it on a big night out here, but i do want to see my family.

Well, as I say, I have nothing to do tomorrow, I will probably stay in bed until 4pm ish with nothing to get up for, although I need to wash some clothes, but really cannot be bothered to do it.
  13. Danqazmlp
Been a while since my last entry, but nothing interesting has happened at all.

Had a week of lectures, then went home Friday night. Had a relaxed weekend at home, had some good food, watched the F1 on Sunday, then had to come back here to my second home a few hours ago.

I did get a phone call from a shop on Saturday saying they could give me some hours this week to see how i am, and to see if i'm ok to work there. Annoyingly, i said ok to the hours, now i've got back here, i've noticed the University have moved one of my seminars smack into the middle of one of the shifts, meaning i'm going to lose 4 hours of work, that I really could have done with.

It's the Freshers ball tonight, i'm not going though. Couldn't really be bothered spending £12 on a Ball three weeks into the term, add on costs of a sit, and drinks, it's ridiculous. So i'm having a normal night out with a few mates I think (note to self: give them a text).

Got a lecture at 5 today, so I'll have to leave for that soon, hope I didn't need to do any preparation work for it, because I haven't done a thing.

I also still need to buy a book for my global studies seminar on Thursday, but I keep forgetting to go to the book store.
  14. Danqazmlp
Well I got home at around 5am today, wasn't a bad night. Didn't get very drunk, but wasn't overly sober either. Tonight is the last official night of freshers, so I plan on having ALOT of fun. Still not overly sure on my plans, will probably end up in the SU bar, but still, it isn't a bad club. Still got 2 pizzas left in the freezer, they are delicious. Meat feasts, and they cook really well. Probably have one of them later. Bit of a boring day planned for today, but I'm in a lazy mood so can't really be bothered to do much.
  15. Danqazmlp
Last night was a good night. I got paid yesterday, so actually had the money to have fun. Went to Gatecrasher, about 2am went to the toilet, came back out and everybody i knew had vanished. Looked at my phone and i was out of credit! So i just left and walked home, couldn't be bothered finding people. A few of my flatmates were already back at the flat, was in the kitchen until around 3.30am just talking, wasn't a bad night.

My plans for the rest of today are :

    Get some milk
Get some ready meals for lunch
Go to the bank to get some money out
    Get some drinks
Keep up the Fresher week streak with night #8

    Wish me luck :)
  16. Danqazmlp
It's time to make myself a new blog here, after my testing blog here had to be removed when the forums went public.

Just a little about myself before i get started, I'm 19 and I'm a student at Nottingham Trent University. I'm studying history, and my hopes are either to become a teacher at secondary level, or somehow be involved with research. Whatever I do, I want to bring interesting history to people with things they did not know before. I started moved in here last Friday, and am really enjoying my freshers week here, as it's the most intense week i hope I'll ever go through.

If you don't know what Freshers week is, it is basically a week before university officially starts, where in the daytime you have inductions, tester lectures and where you choose what modules you wish to take. And at night, you go out, EVERY night. I'm hoping to make the full 8 nights out in a row, currently at 6, but I'm running massively low on money as my loan has yet to come through.

    So, now to today.

Had to wake up at around 11 to go to the Freshers fair, which is a fairly large event with stalls giving away masses of free gifts, goody bags and the like. Nothing essential, or compulsory, but nice for some free gear. I went to the are it was in, and WOW. The line was literally half a mile long, it went so far along the street, I thought I'll go do something else and come back'. So I went up to meet one of the Heady in charge of History at the university as i managed to miss a meeting yesterday which involved the students choosing which modules we want to take. I went there and chose to add Global Studies to my course (you had to choose one extra add on for the course). It took me maybe an hour to get there, fill in the forms and get back. I went back the way of the Freshers fair and the line had doubled, it now encircled the building (and it is not a small building). So i just came back to my flat and chose to ignore the whole thing, it wasn't essential anyway.

So tonight is Gatecrasher night, never been there before but I'll give it a go. Shouldn't be bad, although I don't have much money or drink left.

Time to go ring the parents to ask for some money I think, so crossed fingers!
