its a book i read many many years ago, and now that i try and find it, i cannot even remember what its called...so i will tell everything i know in hopes that someone will know!
ok, things i know.
It was about a dog (i think it was a dog) who goes on a journey. Along the way he encountered a magic fish that gave him a spear, and with it he goes on to help keep people from harm (like i remember him helping a mouse that painted, and a elephant that couldnt remember anything)
that really all i remember. i read it in the 6th grade, so it kind of a kids book. it was a "chapter book" (as i so fondly refered to it then)
im 90% sure that the cover was yellow, and it had the picture of the dog holding the spear on it.
it had a simple name (im pretty sure that the title was the name of the dog in the story)
can anyone help me?!

I am for sure a classic rock fan :D
Almost all the bands I like are 70's and early 80's.
Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Pink Floyd and The Who mainly. Some more recent, but still good: Dire Straits, AC/DC, The Police etc etc etc
hmmmm...i like all the bands you mentioned (except for Pink Floyd, just can't really get into them), but AC/DC started around 1970, with Bon Scott as lead vocals. In my opinion Bon Scott was way better than the vocalist now, Brian Johnson, but Johnson's still pretty good. If you haven't listened to any older AC/DC definitely give it a try! Highway to Hell, TNT, Dirty Deeds, It's A Long Way to the Top, all great older AC/DC songs.
i could never really get into AC/DC too much. i think they are good for a listen every once in a while, but to me they sound too generic and repetitive. They just never really interested me that much...but truthfully, they were one of the earlier bands that started getting me into rock... so i have a slight sentimental connection with them. But apart from an occasional listen to thunderstruck i cant really handle em.

just put whatever song you may be listening to. its as simple as that!
so to begin:
Iron Maiden- Phantom of the Opera

I'm Definitely a fan! I really don't listen to any modern rock, i just find it annoying, no comparison to '70s-'80s era of music. My favorite band's probably Queen, but i like most classic rock bands. Any other Queen fans?
i definatly agree with you there, i have tried to listen to the modern rock bands that are supposed to be incredible...but to me, none of them can even hold a candle to the music from back then.
-
im just wondering how many fans we have of the greatest music to ever exsist. Bands that have changed everything music is about like led zeppelin, pink floyd, or black sabbath.
so just talk about whatever you want, as long as it relates somehow to the wonderful thing that is...ROCK! speech>
:D

at first i loved it! but as i went on and it became bigger and bigger then i slowly started hating it, and now i cant stand it! there was just too much of it from too many people who only liked it cause it was the "cool" thing to do. well all that really ruined it for me.
so i loved it, and now i despise it...i guess that what people will do though...
*sold his vote for pedro shirt*

tabs are a million times more useful than any sheet music. you cant just condemn one style of playing just cause you dont like it. sure, you took the time to learn to read music...well good for you. But for a beginner it is WAY easier to learn tabs than music.
it upsets me when people think that they are better than everyone else just because they can play off sheet music
reading music=/=talent
oh, and for the record. i can read music and tabs, and i still perfer tabs...just thought you should know.

1.Tom Petty
Sweet! I used to like his songs a lot some time ago, what did he play?
it was awesome, he pretty much played his entire greatest hits cd and half of the rest of his catalog. It was incredible despite the fact that i was surrounded by pot smoking hippies ^_^

well it seems Pink Floyd has been well represented *coughontheturningawaycough*
So ill leave you with something from the master
It ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
It don't matter, anyhow
An' it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
If you don't know by now
When your rooster crows at the break of dawn
Look out your window and I'll be gone
You're the reason I'm trav'lin' on
Don't think twice, it's all right
It ain't no use in turnin' on your light, babe
That light I never knowed
An' it ain't no use in turnin' on your light, babe
I'm on the dark side of the road
Still I wish there was somethin' you would do or say
To try and make me change my mind and stay
We never did too much talkin' anyway
So don't think twice, it's all right
It ain't no use in callin' out my name, gal
Like you never did before
It ain't no use in callin' out my name, gal
I can't hear you any more
I'm a-thinkin' and a-wond'rin' all the way down the road
I once loved a woman, a child I'm told
I give her my heart but she wanted my soul
But don't think twice, it's all right
I'm walkin' down that long, lonesome road, babe
Where I'm bound, I can't tell
But goodbye's too good a word, gal
So I'll just say fare thee well
I ain't sayin' you treated me unkind
You could have done better but I don't mind
You just kinda wasted my precious time
But don't think twice, it's all right
a cookie to anyone who knows that song :D
