  1. Congrats Stev.

As far as all the other convo in this thread. The decision was made... if you dont like it then leave. He sets an example on the site in many ways and has proven it through his actions. Thats all that matters. Part of what is great about Tip.It is that we have always maintained a staff that is diverse in life and opinions. Yes, people do follow leadership and they will follow all his great qualities on staff. As mentioned, this isnt the RSOF and I hope it never becomes like that... I mean if it was, comments would have been removed long ago.

  2. One thing that really stands out to me about RuneScape over the years is that kind players always stand out. :)

It seems like Tiffers seem to make up a larger portion of them.

Not sure if threads like this are allowed as it could open players up to personal attacks but he'll see this either way. Haha.

  3. Time for a new release of the: >>>Tip.It Times!<<<

I'd like to remind people of the rules pertaining to Times threads:

[hide=Read these rules before posting in this thread]

Rampant flame wars have taken control of virtually every week's times discussion topics. The following guidelines must be followed when posting on this topic. Posts that ignore these guidelines will be removed.

    1. You are invited and welcome to express like or dislike on articles and a particular author's writing style. It is not acceptable, however, to flame or personally insult an author. Posts that aren't anything but an attack will be removed from the topic.

    2. Spelling and grammar errors can be reported to tripsis by PMing her and they will be fixed promptly. It is not necessary to post them on the discussion topic.

    3. Off topic posts that do not discuss the content of that week's articles will be removed. This is not the place to discuss the direction of the times, how much you love or hate the times, etc. Off topic posts will be removed.

By keeping within these guidelines, Times discussion topics will mean more for the Panel and Administration than just a place for flame wars. Flame wars do not provide any useful feedback to the Times, which is mainly what we're aiming for with these topics: feedback.

This policy is effective as of now, November 17, 2010. Any posts prior to the creation of this policy may or may not be removed according to the new guidelines.

When replying please make sure to clarify the article you are replying to! Thanks!

If you spot any typos or mistakes in an article then please PM them to @tripsis. :)

    Enjoy the articles!

PS... It has been a while for me... so I may have missed a few small things. Feel free to pm me if you see anything. :ohnoes:

  4. Why not have some sort of white-list system for off-site picture links, such as imageshack, even runetracker etc, and prevent other sites from being able to host images here.

I thought tripsis said more than this:

This is a common threat going around right now and is one that we will be combating very soon.

I don't think I will get hazed for saying this but we will be adding that to the forum on the next update (or a few days after it).

  5. Are you HONESTLY going to set the precedent of ONLY allowing discussion which is EXACTLY germane to the original topic? No deviation? That's pretty extreme.

I mean to say that saying a mod released ip information is highly unlikely. The last page of the topic was about that though. Less than 10 people have Ip access via staff.

This is an awesome topic. Account safety is something that we should all be very serious about. As Peter mentioned, we are going to be making some addition security changes from this discussion.

I didn't mean to say, discuss EXACTLY, simply, accusing mods of releasing information is almost harassment of staff. We take the promotion of these staff members very seriously, and only give them this ability to better ban ad bots and those who are avoiding bans.

  6. Too add onto this:

There are a large number of ways of obtaining someone's IP address. As there is no proof of which method was used, bickering back and forth will do nothing to help the situation; even if it's simply stated as a possibility. We are all for you educating people on ways to protect themselves by posting methods which could have been used, but please be sure not to point fingers. As far as the possibility of it being handed over by a TIF staff, Tripsis and MageUK were nice enough to correct and assure users that this wasn't the case. Although yes it could, even to the slightest degree, be considered a possibility.

    Thanks!

The discussion/accusations/possibility of a corrupt mod/s is leading no where and, as the previous posts will show you, will only make things worse. If you ever feel that a mod/admin is doing otherwise, please pm an admin or admins of your choice.

So, can we please move on and try to get back to:

Discussion value, what does this show about the state of runescape these days, recently I was also scammed for 2b while staking, but this is far worse and there seems to be little I can do to protect myself.

  7. The moderation staff has has noticed that with "Patch notes" being introduced with releases, there is very rarely a "hidden update." To better your forum experience we have decided to unsticky/unpin this topic. Feel free to post here if you do find a hidden update however!

    Thanks!
