  1. This thread isn't for accusing people of botting... if someone expresses a different viewpoint, that may not even be theirs, its just that.... a view point. If you feel someone is admitting to botting, simply report the post and leave it to the moderation staff.

Give others the courtesy you would expect when posting your viewpoint.

  2. You know I enjoyed the thread but it was getting out of hand. A few users ruined it for the few, despite the best efforts of the mods/admins. Several warnings were given, beyond inappropriate posts being posted, staff harassment, ect ect.

It was not a decision that was taken lightly be the staff... reading through the conversation it was a very hard decision. Again, they tried, some of the users seeming taunted the mods to lock it. I back up the staff''s decision to lock it based on the above facts.

Now, I hope all is well with the users who made that thread home. I really do. I don't see how unlocking the thread would change anything, the same users would come back, they could be warned/banned, but then they would complain about the mods in the thread and it would be the whole circle all over again.

I would recommend a skype chat or something to that extent for the LOTPW thread community. Staff uses the chat rooms for business and pleasure and we find it quite accommodating.

  3. A Foolish Contest!

Over the years Tip.It staff has prided itself with our yearly April Fools Prank... You may recall the forum being invaded with Poke'mon, being RickRoll'D with bait of Jagex/Tip.It partnership, various fake NEW skills (horseback riding, engineering, sailing), Justin Bieber cursor, fake staff forums and so on. As you ponder over these past pranks you may recall that you had a better idea (obviously not better than Poke'mon though, that was HILARIOUS) that you think staff should have done instead.... Well, *Drumroll*... Now's your chance!

The staff has decided to run a contest for Tip.It's best April's Fools Prank! You can privately submit your prank ideas, the Tip.It Staff will pick their favourite, and that's what we'll surprise you all with this year! Some may find this the cheap way out of a staff made idea... but we are going to shamelessly run this contest anywho's! I mean, what's better than the staff working with the users to make for one of the most memorable pranks ever?!?

The contest: Submit Your Idea for an April Fools Prank on Tip.It

    There are 2 categories:

    • Forum
    • Website

The following rules must be followed:

    • April Fools is meant to be enjoyable. Our prank can't be annoying to the point where it pisses people off or disrupts regular forum browsing.
    • No "accidentally" revealing private staff boards.
    • We're not totally opposed to playing with staff ranks, but we should avoid really confusing people about who's staff and who isn't.
    • No website changes to suggest that we're closing down or switching to a new game.
    • No pretending we've been hacked.
    • Prank ideas must be appropriate. <_<

    Submission & Deadline

Submit your entry to Rank_Contest with the subject "April Fools Submission." DO NOT post your entry on this thread. The deadline for submission is March 19th at 11PM GMT.

    Prizes

We will announce the winners after the pranks have been applied and enjoyed (April 2nd)!

    • Best Website Prank: Custom forum rank
    • Best Forum Prank: Custom forum rank

A forum rank is the text that appears below your avatar. Normally these ranks are associated with your post count. If you win this competition you will be able to change this rank to whatever you want (with some limitations on length and appropriateness).

    Questions?

If you have any questions, please post them here! Remember, do not post your entry on this forum thread!

Good luck to all!

  4. Its interesting to note that most reports are handled in an active mod chat or via the forum. If it is something very game related... the experience and thoughts of a active player are really valued.

There are times some mods mess up, but that's just part of being human and/or different backgrounds.

When I was part of the process of finding a moderator... I noticed that players who play the game... want to play the game.... being a mod takes a crap ton of time and one is usually forced to decide: Tip.it or Runescape.

Future mods also have thier posting habits looked at... if the forums need a RuneScape mod... staff will look at their posts in RS... where an Offtopic Mod would have his/her posts reviewed from OT.

But yes.... it would be amazing to have mods who have time to be super active both in RS and Tip.it.
