  1. They start to use software to scan and search PCs for hacks and bot software, I'll write a bypass for it in under an hour.

    :).

I think you're underestimating the capabilities of the software that could be made.

If RS was a offline game I would agree with you though.

  2. Stellar Dawn; just because you haven't seen anything or heard anything does not mean that it's going nowhere, let me assure you of that. Likewise with transformers. We know Stellar Dawn is in Alpha, perhaps even finished.

FunOrb yes, of course is not gold in any sense; it's as much as had its day. Make or break? I would really doubt that. With the playerbase RuneScape alone has, anything new released would already have a following upon release. With paying members, of course. I think after 10 years, Jagex know what to do and what not to do to create success. Other developers, Zipper Int. for example...Creator of the SOCOM series and also MAG, which is a game like no other FPS on the market, but they went about it wrong over two years ago now and the game is slowly losing numbers. That's all down to key changes and a lack of funds in certain areas...Whereas Jagex, on the other hand know exactly how to market their game at this stage and to provide content which pleases...Because they've "Been there, done that.".

Mechscape was scraped because it wasn't "fun", they took a lot of the resources from that and changed stuff and made new stuff to develop Stellar Dawn. My point is, the first major project after Runescape was killed because they felt it wasn't a fun game. I don't think there's anything worse than that from a development view point.

Just because Runescape has a large playerbase and sure, that helps a lot. But just because isn't enough. If they pump out a new game and everyone think it blows major ass then they failed as a developer. As a developer, in my opinion, whatever their next project that is released will be very important.

Whereas Jagex, on the other hand know exactly how to market their game at this stage and to provide content which pleases

Yes they know how to market, that's why I said Jagex as a publisher won't end any time soon. As far as providing content that pleases, they are very hit and miss. Walk around in Runescape and look at all the content that gets played. Look at all the minigames nobody gives a [cabbage] about. We have mid level players who feel there's too much content for new players while veterans feel there's not enough content for them. I could go on and on and a lot of it stems from the fact that Runescape is so old now.

  3. Jagex has all the means to stop bots, they just chose not to. The signed client has access to everything it needs (file writing, file reading, memory reading, etc etc). All they have to do is ax unsigned and put it in their ToS that they have every right to search your computer for hacks.

Heck, they could even check your browsing history with the signed client to see what sites you visited (Have you been on site X? banned). It would not be difficult at all for Jagex to check your hard drive for bot scripts.

My only guess is that they are afraid to lose customers because some techniques may invade user's privacy. But at this point I've quit RS entirely because Jagex hasn't done [cabbage] about the bots and maybe I may come back if they actually got off their ass. Maybe, I'm enjoying all my free time.

  4. Not only that, but Jagex don't just Have RuneScape under their wing. Right now there's absolutely no sign of it "Ending" in a few years, that's just craziness. But a games Studio isn't just going to take a dive and be done with, when they have over 400 employees and profiting like there's no tomorrow. I think you can be sure Jagex will still be around in many, many years to come so it really is a company which would be worth pursuing for someone who's interested in game design, etc. Because it will always be something new.

Oh how I admire you doom sayers.

They have released one game that they have developed in house. They may have published some other games, but they have only developed one.

Mechscape was canceled. Stellar Dawn we haven't seen anything about yet really. There's 8worlds and that transformers MMO. I can't speak for 8worlds since I haven't played it.

FunOrb is alright, but it isn't exactly developer gold. So in my opinion, Jagex as a developer I would say their next projects would be make or break. They can't keep Runescape alive forever if they won't ban the bots (or maybe they can, where everybody is a bot it doesn't matter if you get their money).

As a publisher they still have a future because they have money and as long as they don't throw that down the drain it should be good.

  5. another facebook update

Hello again guys!! Were having issues with our core hosting providers they are looking into it but we still have no timeframe. We really appreciate your patience while we work to resolve this. :) ~Zach

    lol@jagex

Do they run everything off 1 server or something? No wonder RS runs like poop

  6. A DDoS attack on the RuneScape servers themselves would require a ridiculous amount of resources, no-one could have done this, really. This is simply an error on their side, and not the work of some 13 y/o skiddie.

Easier than you are lead to believe.

  7. I just thought that if you use Steel titan youd need healing and Excalibur special could be good. But your onto something there.

But hey i think 6 man team can still do better.

6 Man team with Dragon claw special and Steel titans + scrolls

Whats difference between this and solo? Solo cant use Steel titan to get more kills. Cant hurt with extra Serg kills, u get more loot overall.

So not a bad way to go if your in a 6 man team

The problem isn't killing fast, the problem is the respawn times are low.

  8. The problem I have with the trolling rules is that something that someone wrote can't really be objectively looked at. I mean in this thread I saw a post that I thought was uncalled for, but the person in question that was receiving the, in my opinion unwarranted reply may have not have cared as much as I would have in that scenario.

My point is, how can the tip.it staff look at a post and determine what is a troll and what isn't? And how can they assure that when they have to subjectively look at a post, that they don't bring biases in?

I mean it's quite easy to see a post with the content "You are stupid and should kill yourself as you are a waste of space" as flaming and purposely hurtful. Likewise someone could make a joke and through the power of the internet it may be misconstrued as a troll.

I guess what I am trying to say in a real round about matter is, I hope a lot of care is put into determining who and what is trolling or a troll. Sadly, it appears you guys are off to a horrible start with poor communication. The fact that this has already seemingly effected someone who may or may not have actually trolled, doesn't leave me with a lot of confidence.

  9. I've posted my reasons as to why I would buy another macbook pro as a student. Yes they cost more, which I think is worth the price. Most of the money for the computers is spent up front. When the new OS comes out it's like $25 vs Windows at say $150+. Being a student you can grab Windows 7 for around $100 right now.

I actually got my Windows 7 Professional free. The joys of msdn.

If you really take into account all of the features that are included and compare it to a laptop with similar features it will not be too shy of the price of the mac. Which for most users can be made up for with the customer support.

So basically what you are saying is that, the people who do not need technical support are giving the people that do a free ride? I never buy extended warranty or any of that jazz on my stuff. If someone wants to spend extra on extra support or something, that should be their choice.

This is all my personal opinion obviously. But when comparing the numbers of issues I've heard from people around school about laptops the macs tend not to have as many. They do still have problems though, one girl I know replaced her hard drive 5 times, all under warranty though. That was back in 2008 though and I haven't heard of any other issues with hard drives since. It still comes down to your budget in the end though. If you can afford $1300 for the Macbook Pro I would spend it. If not go buy a windows machine for $700 and replace it every couple of years. I don't know many people running windows on a machine much more than 2 or 3 years old that isn't so slow you want to pull your hair out. Yet some people are still running macbooks that are 5 years old with no issues.

There are loads of people that have like 10 year old thinkpads - and they run Windows XP too. Sure, not every product line from every company is going to last 10 years. But that is why you shop around to get the best deals.

I don't want anyone to get the idea that I'm trying to bash windows or anything but try starting with similar quality products when comparing prices and features. There are many underlying benefits of owning a mac that windows users just don't understand until they own one. Two years ago before I bought my first Macbook Pro I was in the same boat, thought they were overpriced and it would be ludacris to spend that kind of money on a 13" laptop. Even when I purchased the laptop I had doubts. I've since changed my mind about them and would buy another if I had a need for it in the future.

What are the underlying benefits? I have never used the Mac OS before because I prefer gnu/linux and only use windows when I really need to. So I am curious to be what they are. (Only time I use windows is when I want to play some games or if my school requires something done in proprietary software)

And you would buy a Dell? I've never met a computer tech that would ever recommend a dell. They actually say to stay away. The least reliable computers out there.

Dell makes some very good products. You are probably biased from having used their cheap-end line of products. Off the top of my head, I can tell you Dell makes very good monitors.

Build a PC with i7 processor and 8 gb of RAM. I know dell XPS 15 with i7 and 8 gb RAM is under 1500 if not closer to 1300. Personally I'm getting a Dell next year for college. Install Linux. Go. Although I'm not too sure how good GIMP is good for photo editing compared to something like adobe photoshop.

Dells are still pretty slow. My Intel Core i3 (dual core) desktop with 6GB of RAM I built this time last year is much faster than the 6 month old Dell with i5 and 8GB of RAM that I use at work. And for the slowness, no I don't think the network would be a cause since it's only connected to the network for the Internet. Also, I have 3TB of hard drive while the computer at work has 1TB.

A i3 should never be faster than a i5. The computer you use at work probably has a bunch of bloatware and extra antivirus and other stuff making performance worse. Usually size is not a tell take sign of how fast a computer is. As an example you can buy a 80gb SSD that will outperform multiple* raided HDD, never mind a single one.

*not sure on how many as I never cared to look at that sort of benchmarks and it depends on what sort of benchmark you do.

Try checking around on some forums bout osx on other machines. Ive seen some run on amd processors and stuff. I'm going to try to run it on my AMD Phenom II X6 in the summer sometime, just to see if it works. I just find windows crashes lots. Even internet explorer keeps crashing on my new system and there is not reason that it should be crashing.

That is a nice laptop youve built there. And you are absolutely right, gzming on a 13" sucks, thats why I use it for school and music anf have the big powerful desktop for runescape.

I have had Windows 7 installed for over a near, with no antivirus at all. All of this on a 7 year old CPU and integrated graphics. And I have never had windows crash on me on this install.

Also I like gaming on smaller screens, dat dot pitch.

People can buy Apple products if they wish. That is their business, but until their prices become better I cannot recommend them to any of my friends.

  10. Also, considering one of the Royal Princes has served in Afghanistan (or was it Iraq?) and the other, the one getting married, if my memory serves me correct is a qualified life guard and has worked closely with the British RNLI and has served in the military, they have actually done a lot more than you to deserve recognition.

Really? And how do you know what Pulli does in his life? I find it disgusting that just because you more about the Princes lives and that they have done -some- good that you can put down another member of this forum.

  11. Want to know how to find bots and easily catch them?

Invisible Items/Monsters that only bots would see.

RS runs on Java. Everything is coded with an ID #. Bots work by detecting ID's. Heres the solution:

Make a new era of random events where items appear around the person in question that are coded the same as whatever theyre doing but ARENT ACTUALLY THERE.

Aka, if the person in question is fighting... green dragons. have 4-5 invisible green dragons with the SAME id's as the regular green dragons appear all around the person, but theyd be unclickable (theyre ghosts basically, you wouldnt be able to see them but a bot would because its gathering java data) Therefore, the person in question would react to this in two different ways:

    Regular person:

-wouldnt even see the "invisible" things and they continue on their way.

    Bots:

-Would consider this "invisible" thing to be real and would constantly attempt to click/attack/whatever to it. Therefore proving its a bot.

So yeah, my dad does coding and crap for a living, and he made me take classes on it when I was in Jr High convinced that, "this will help me in the real world". Wasted most of my time that Summer but at least I can do Sites and stuff :) I dont know enough Java though to really get involved in giving better ideas, but thats one Ive always thought was a clever one.

    Jagex already does this.

  12. The apple store in my city is funny, as it's 98% kids messing around while their parents shop and homeless people who don't have internet at home, and maybe 2% people actually buying something. If you're lucky, you can find a kid who forgot to sign out of Facebook, and have some fun. When the ipod touches were still running 3.3, someone went in and jailbroke them all, and the iphone 4 in the rogers kiosk is somehow jailbroken.

Anyways, on topic, calling windows for support is the worst thing you can do. Online forums will give you far better support, for free.

I could build a computer for under $1500 that would beat the $2800 iMac easily. Macbooks are alright if you have the money to spend and don't care for gaming, but are still ludicrously overpriced.

Still the one thing that sets the macbook pro apart for me is the battery. Light up keyboard being next probably. Optical audio output is also nice. And the LED monitor. Most other brands with these features are over $1000 last I looked, my macbook was like $1300 I believe.

My laptop gets 7 hour battery life browsering the web. I never understood the need for a backlit keyboard but if you like the rice more power to you. Now a days it is easy to configure stuff to really bring out battery life. (SSD upgrade, underclocking CPU/GPU, turning down fans, etc etc)

I also was not overlooking the Linux distributions but most people are not comfortable using it. I for one have not spent much time with it and would likely not head down that path. There is a smaller community for Linux and I don't believe there are Office products for Linux out there. The reason the topic started for was for a student heading to school. I would definitely make sure that I was running the Microsoft Office Suite. It's a lot easier for notes, course outlines, projects, etc. Powerpoint itself is more than worth buying.

To be honest, I would say community is one of the strong points for using Linux. Always lots of people willing to help you and spend their time to help you.

As far as office suites the is open office, and probably a lot more.

  13. Basically I want to buy a laptop/netbook for when I go to university in the autumn. I willl probably be taking my PC with me as well which I could use for anything heavy duty such as gaming, but for word processing and browsing the internet I'd like something portable that I can take to lectures and to work with outside my room etc. I'd be willing to spend up to around £400 on one, although any money I could save by not going over the top with specs would be good. I live in the UK btw.

Buy a x120e Thinkpad (or the HP dm1z)

Make sure you get the e-350 CPU and upgrade the battery. Enjoy your 6-7 hour battery life broswing the web.

  14. out of that list, should i just use my highest possible familiar? or are there specific situations for specific familiars?

Unless you are looking for specific experience I would just pick the highest leveled one.

  15. I'm not entirely sure now.

According to all the guides you water flowers and allotments, allotments certainly won't grow without it; but I swear I've nvr actually watered flowers.

    They certainly will.

Watering is never needed (except for starting tree seeds), but it may help a little bit in fighting against disease.

But if you are planting watermelons for extra EXP, it certainly isn't worth it to water them since they have almost a 100% chance of surviving with the protection flower.
