  1. Well, read the fictional article for once...I must say, it could have been longer. I also want to know why Varrock is being invaded.

Also, having an army surrounding Varrock, even if they don't do anything, IS putting the city under siege; one of the biggest thing about having a city under siege is that it can't get outside supplies. Often times, a siege is more about starving the city then about invading it.

  2. Re: Third Party Communication

    I enjoyed reading this.

Using third party programs is discouraged by Jagex and is shrouded in ambiguity.

I suspect it's Jagex covering their corporate rear end. If they say it's okay to use teamspeak or skype, they'd be potentially introducing young players to an unmoderated chat system where pedos might prowl. So they give us a filtered chat system and enforce rules about not exchanging personal details through it. Keeps kids safe from dodgy people, keeps Jagex safe from being sued, and anyone who actually wants to use these programs will just go ahead and do it anyway on their own responsibility.

Pretty much hit the nail on the head. I think it's mostly to prevent being sued, and to prevent blame if anything bad happens because of these 3rd party softwares. Plus, a large amount of people who play RS are relatively young.

@ The historical article: I like reading this pointless type of information :D

@ 3rd party software article: Very interesting article taking a look at 3rd party software.

    @ Fictional article...'fraid I don't read. Although, I probably should....

  3. The Big Tease:

I agree, it's about time to take members-only content out of F2P. I wonder how far they'll go though....turn the Tzhaar entrance into a huge rock? Make the infamous Falador members gate just part of the wall? Etc etc.

I have to say, P2P adverts on F2P seems to have been most active last year....I think the chocatrice familiar was last year? Although, I think that was in part due to the people who left over the wilderness removal.

    Skilling heights:

It paints a depressing picture, but one that isn't necessarily true. Smithing and mining for instance, could be updated to include smithing certain dragon items. Or Jagex could follow the trend of the dragon plate, and make more high level armour that involves monster drops and skilling. Prayer could still use more mage/ranged prayers. Certain skills could still use potions; not every skill has a skill boost other then evil stews, and those are a pain. Slayer and magic staffs; perhaps a new magic staff for a new magic spell? One that does over 30 damage?

Or again, minigames is a good one; when SC came out, it became very desirable to get many stats to 80. Further minigames could keep working on it.

Just Let Me Play: Makes me think of all the people who think I should get another cape then skilling. I actually kind of want a magic cape, but that's partly because magic maxes out at what, 96? Not too too far from 99.

Also makes me think of my disgust/rant about skillcapes; more specifically, how they cause people to spend a few million gold pieces and many many hours of boredom just for a stinking cape that they get because they feel like a noob without a 99;a cape that many people will look down on because everyone else is getting that 99 as well....

  4. One thing that many people don't realize/point out/forget to mention in many of their posts is that, despite the similarities, there is quite a difference between MERCHANT CLANS and PRICE MANIPULATION CLANS. Merchant clans observe the rise and fall of items, buying when they crash and selling when they get high.

Price Manipulation Clans on the other hand, do not observe the rise and fall of items; rather they create this rise and fall, by mass purchase of items to raise the demand (and the price), then dumping it into the Grand Exchange when they have made the price high. This also often ends up with the price of the item crashing far below it's original price.

As for price manipulation being against game rules...

The only reason it isn't technically against game rules is because of how easy it is to say that your merchanting instead of price manipulation. If you observe the way the GE works, you will notice several examples of things to deter price manipulation, such as the buying limit for some items.

If Jagex catches someone price manipulating, they could claim to be merchanting. Due to the "innocent until proven guilty" mentality that most modern countries run by, Jagex uses that as well; and there is almost no technical way for them to prove it; maybe the person is buying 100 dfs for something other then price manipulation...Maybe they want to go to bh or pvp worlds a lot with it?

Btw, I realize that the DFS probably isn't a real example. But w/e.

And yes, this probably is overkill.

  5. Btw, 3rd paragraph, I think it should be "fussing" not "fusing." 90% sure. ... (Economic article.)

    ...

Btw, sorry if that sounds negative. I really am a fan of the times and I'm just trying to provide constructive criticism.

1; Its fusing (they fused evil and good prayers)

2; Its the 2nd article, not the economic one

3; It's ok to sound negative if your criticism is well founded...

Oops  that WAS the prayer article. Well, when I read it, I thought "shifting and fussing" for some reason, which in the context also makes sense. But yeah, fusing makes just as much sense.

  6. Really great times. I loved the prayer article.. grah it really buged me, only cause it made me get frustrated with myself! when did i start runescape! the million dollar question, i would love to find out! :D I dont remember old prayers and i dont remember old POH in fally. so im guesing maybe i started in mid or even late 2002?

Can somoene help me, i have the distant memories of turotrial island in runescape classic.. i think the tutorial was different to the rs2 tutorial, i believe part of the rsc tutorial island was "wildy like" and there was like a "wildy" tutor teaching you about death and wildy and how dangerous it was.. can anyone confirm this? it was almost 7 years ago, its been a bit of a blur, grahh.. I think at the end of the tutorial you get on a boat to the main land... grahh (memory failing)

The prayer article was really well written, also would have been good to add about the (x) feature for altar. it didnt detract, im just saying would just have further reinforced the point of how easy it is these days if you "you are an uber 26ker,,,oops i mean pker"

As for the economic article, I didnt enjoy it. I know it is an important issue, but I play Runscape to escape the real world of economics and business. To be honest back in 2008 I was a massive merchant, I dont merchant anymore, so ill tell you what i did. Everyday, I would wake up before uni/work, buy like 20-30 guthan helms, plates, legs, spears. I would then make them into "sets" and I would flip 5-10m a day for 5mins of GE work. In around september last year I decided to "quit" and i had like a 600m drop party. Anyways, I stoped for 3months, and started back up again in 2009. I dont touch merchanting now. I just cant be bothered, id rather just pretend it is not part of the game in my eyes, and i just try to make my money from slaying, my kingdom, and my daily battlestaffs.

So when I read articles like this, i read it with far less enthusiasm and interest then i would have say 2008. This will seem hiporitical comming from someone that mas merchanted so much in the passed, by.. grahh, i not sure if i can get the words out... I just dont care really. The game is much more interesting training your skills up and not having to worry about making more and more and more moneys. All I been doing this year has been training my slayer level. Im going to be 99 in about 4-5 days, and you know what 2009 has been the best year for me. Sure I dont have partyhats like i used to. Sure I cant afford to slay in the best gear. Sure im probably gona have to RC or kill green dragons if i wanna get 99summon. But at the end of the day, having "unlimited" money actualy makes the game less fun. It is fun having limitations and not being able to do things in the game cause your too poor. It gives you something to work towards.

If your in a merchant clan. I spit on your face. You make me sick. What are you going to do with your wealth smoking mills and goldmerch you greedy nerds?

What are you going to do, go be like every other GE manipulator, do nothing but buyable skills like herblore or cons or prayer? pfft, those capes mean nothing if the profit was made through what i see as illegal activity. You disguesting GE manipulators, you ruining the game for everyone else, people play the game to slay dragons, go on great adventures and make friends. Dont you see that? When is enough for you pigs?

I'd like to see you tell that to the "you" of last year....

What most people don't realize is that being invincible gets boring really quickly. That might seem a bit random...But, unlimited supply of money for instance. Quickly get all buyable 99s, pk on f2p in full dragon constantly or constantly take full pvp armour to pvp. Would be fun for a little big, but it wouldn't be a challenge and would get boring quickly.

Sorry if that made no sense >_>

Btw, 3rd paragraph, I think it should be "fussing" not "fusing." 90% sure. Also, later in that paragraph it said construction came out several MONTHS after RS2. Should be a couple years I think. (Economic article.)

Other then that, it was a very good article. Although, I don't like how "unbiased" these articles are, lol. Articles that say things like "merchant clans are ruining RS" and provide good, well studied arguments to support their claims provide much more entertaining discussions then general articles everyone can agree with. (Economic article again.)

Btw, sorry if that sounds negative. I really am a fan of the times and I'm just trying to provide constructive criticism.

Oh, I didn't say anything about the prayer article. Well written, very informative. Might I request more historical articles telling us what RSC was like?

  7. You know, I get the feeling that if everyone read each other's posts carefully and stopped jumping to conclusions, the wikipedia debate wouldn't be here because pretty much everyone is saying the same thing...

    Wikipedia isn't always accurate.

Your wrong! It is almost always accurate.

Read my post. I said isn't ALWAYS accurate.

It's still accurate 99% of the time!

    Sheesh....

ONTOPIC: I did like the articles :) As I said in a previous post, the "sleeping" article was rather informative.

  8. Great articles.

Change is necessary for an MMORPG to grow.

Personally, I love the run update.

It makes me hate training Agility a little less.

On topic: if the highest weapon speed is 10, could someone tell me what the Abyssal Whip speed is? I thought this was quite an interesting read, I've always been curious about understanding how RSC worked.

Abyssal whip is 4, Godsword is 3, Dharok's Axe is 2, and I think that the fastest (darts) is 7.

Abyssal Whip is 4? I'm not sure if that's a little slow or a little fast?

So I'm guessing a DDS is about 5 then?

No offense and nothing personal, but I am always amazed how many people think that abyssal whips, scimitars, and daggers have different attack speeds. I've known for years they have the same speed...Figured it out in Tzhaar years ago, when I had a DDS or d scimmy....dds I think...Me and a guy with a whip were fighting the same monster. We attacked with the same speed.

ONTOPIC: I have to say I liked the 2nd article better, although the first was well written. And I didn't read the fictional article because I'm a noob like that. It was very nice to know exactly how beds worked in RSC.

  9. Funny thing is, I haven't seen any proof of anything on this forum. Just heresay and the occasional screenshot which could have easily been edited.

I think I'm going to quit this thread. No matter how many times I say it, people just keep ignoring it. You have NO SOLID EVIDENCE of innocent people being banned for macroing. You have nothing but heresay, nothing but words from the mouths of the accused, who will always deny their involvement to the very end. Have fun with your fruitless discussion.

Almost everyone here seems to have the idea that either:

this is a good update, getting rid of more bots, go jagex, oh and yes they do know what they're doing, they're smart

    OR

stop it with the propaganda jagex, your lying to us, and your falsely banning people, specifically people who use mousepads

Life is never that black and white. The truth is almost always somewhere in the middle.

  10. I'd like to mention what others have mentioned: this is propaganda, pure and simple.

lol. I can see your point. At least they were nice enough to warn everyone what will happen if they continue cheating, or have a thought about trying it. It's just a deterent. It's a game, and even in the game there are rules that need to be followed. As far as breaking American and British laws... a big ROFL. This is their game. Period. They are technically allowed to do anything they want, you agree to the terms and agreements. Unless they are breaking laws concerning your privacy or getting into your computer... good fight. :)

But they're based in Britain. Furthermore, there are such things as international laws.

They can ban you and delete your account without any warning, and there is nothing you can do, that's just part of the terms and conditions. I don't blame them for it. Runescape was not meant to be played out in the courtroom.

It doesn't matter about international laws in this case, it's based in Britain, and the terms and conditions simply state, that they ultimately own the account and can do whatever they want with it, that's what you agreed to. Simple.

    This may be true.

But what if I rented a storage room, signed the agreement for six months storage and abided by everything in the contract. Then, suddenly, one day they toss all my stuff out without warning. When questioned, the owner tells me he suspected that I had breached the contract while under my own free will.

Now take this to court and see how the judge rules.

Just because you sign a contract, it doesn't mean they have all power. If they don't follow it, or if the contract itself has illegal clauses, it could mean the whole thing is null and void.

Mmmmhmmm so they are. But what exactly are they doing that may be considered illegal. Propaganda? Saying they can do one thing and they really can't? Maybe they can or maybe they can't. If that were the case I would sue every weight loss program commerical, and heck even the president. I am sure things are said every day that we all know is bullstuffings... but I doubt it could be grounds for legal actions or rewards. You could just quit? :)

Meh it's just a scare tatic. If you are doing things right, then I wouldn't worry about anything.

But in a world where McDonald's can be sued for serving hot coffee and patients are more than willing to bite the hand that heals them, then you'd think Jagex would be a little more careful with what they say, hmm?

Furthermore, weight loss commercials simply offer testimonies and what you CAN do on the plan. And I believe that everything that Politicians say prior to election is just what they WANT to do.

Anyhoo, they're not above the law either. Does Nixon ring a bell?

Something worth pointing out: this is a game avatar. This is Britain. Less likely to get sued over.

Also, as quoted people have pointed out, there is a large difference between skillful deception and outright lying. Skillful deception means your telling the truth in a deceptive way.

Also, here's a way to misphrase their 0 tolerance on botting:

These days we are taking a zero-tolerance approach to macroing. Players caught for macroing dont receive a warning, or a chance to appeal, or even a last-chance appeal - they are just permanently banned.

Well, that could be interpreted that as long as Jagex believes you are an auto-er you cannot appeal. But, you could try and convince them you didn't auto.

Also, they never said you were perm-banned with no chance of appeal. It could be interpreted that they are saying that, if they beleive 100% you are botting, they skip temporary bans and other things that people who swear a lot get, and just ban.

I might be wrong. But I hope not. And I do not beleive I'm wrong, although I will admit that is in part because I do not want to believe I am wrong.

Anybody believing their claim is more foolish than I imagined..

Similar to the inability of virus scanners to detect all virusses it is impossible to detect all macroers.. Such a system would solve the halting problem, something which is proven in 1936 to be unsolvable already!

    quote from

Adleman proved: If an algorithm exists that can prove the presence of viruses in general case than exists an algorithm that solves the halting problem (Reductio ad absurdum - proof by contradiction).

Now since no one can ever be sure (halting problem is unsolvable for both the human as well as computers) if another person is using a bot, banning is completely wrong - explain to me, why should someone be banned if they are innocent..

OW AND STOP TALKING ABOUT HOW JAGEX CAN REMOVE YOUR SUBSCRIPTION LIKE THEY WANT: they can't, it's completely ilegal to do unless given a refund or a proof in advance. (meaning, you shouldn't have to ask for proof).. - Problem is, going to court is more expensive these days than a year's subscription, and jagex knows that, so they know they can just ban anyone cause nobody would ever go to the court for this.

There is no practical difference between not being allowed to go to court about this, and having everyone 100% choose not to go to court about this.

Although, if a person paid by means of credit card, debt card, etc, it is entirely possible that Jagex might just refund the money if they do perm ban you. Anyways, whatever legal consequences for their actions people can think of here, Jagex will have an answer to; we are but simple people, whereas a company as big as Jagex will have a lawyer here or there.

Lets just say he is back?

    vd3l9v.jpg

You know, it occurs to me that it is a brave, or extraordinarily atheist, man or boy who makes his screen name a reference to the Morning Star.

In any case, either Jagex's whole we're getting tougher on macros was a bluff, or he was innocent.

No, it just takes an average Atheist. And there are plenty of those out there.

Also, I heard that 2 leaders from some of the top price manipulation clans have been banned or something. Mind you, it's all hearsay.

  11. Actually, it is Jagex's game, you only decide if you like it or not. The Gower brothers and people at Jagex HQ decide what goes in and out of the game, and balance that with making sure they get memberships.

And I can fairly safely say that there won't be many people quitting because they're annoyed that Jagex removed the bug that allowed them to get easy exp in certain skills...

If you don't like mindless clicking, why do I see so many firemaking/fletching/cooking capes...

  12. About the rollback....Jagex policy on rollbacks is not to do that unless there is a really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really bad bug.

Like if the fally massacre had 100 people on every world doing it. Other then that, they don't seem to do rollbacks.

  13. Although I think this grammar argument has gotten out of hand, I must complain about this sentence in the "Hip Jagex" article.

Eventually, however, no need for however Tip.It announced a partnership with Jagex.

That sentence confused the hell outta me. Although, overall is was a good article...Personally, Jagex on all the social networking sites do not interest me for 2 reasons.

    1) I'm a closet RS player. Although I wouldn't deny it if asked directly, I try to keep it secret that I play. Yes yes yes I know, yeah yeah.

    2) Social networking sites are of no interest to me whatsoever. Me on facebook = what do I do now? And what I do is go somewhere else.

Also, the party hap duplication article was very informative. It was just something people referred to, and I never knew much about it (other then the fact that p hats were duplicated.)

And the penguin article is entertaining....Although I'm not worried. I have a simple, but boring outlook on it; the mafia didn't steal the card, Jagex nerfed the game so that you would need to get into their debt. The penguin mentioned a human agent as well...I suspect we will become that agent in the future. But if that is the case, why wasn't it mentioned originally?

Plus, in the RS storyline, there aren't millions of people doing this quest. There is one person, so at best they went into your bank and took a very penguinish item.

Anyways, that's my two cents. I've been known to be wrong before....

Like when Jagex announced Spirit of Summer quest and I ridiculed some guy for this stupid wacky far out theory that the people at the farm were being held against their will be some sort of evil beast....

  14. whats the whole plot in the quest?

    To waste your time.

Also try to keep their [Jagex] word of completing old quest lines instead of starting new ones.

Do you want a Runescape with no quest no story lines or plots???

Stop complaining about quest, if you feel like you wasted time doing a quest then the answer is simple.

DON'T DO IT! That way you don't have to come here and [female dog] about it and waste even further time posting something that wasted your time.

Better question... How do you know you are wasting your time until after you've already done it? ;)

Get what your saying, to a degree, but the entire logic there is flawed. You can't possibly know you're going to be wasting your time until you've already done it. For arguements sake... let's say even half way through the quest. By that time... you might as well finish it anyways and get whatever unknown (or known if you leech off guides) reward you might get to salvage said wasted time.

Not saying the quest is a waste of time... For the record... Just incase anyone wants to try and blast me for something I didn't even say. ;)

Simple. You don't do the quest ill it comes out, you wait for a guide and for the plot to be revealed.

It was a very entertaining quest and i enjoyed it immensley.

However i doubt there will be a grandmaster quest based on this and if there is it certainly wont be on the scale of WGS.

On the other hand what is certain is that there will be more quests along the story line as it links:

Cold War, Wanted! and a dwarf quest(?) together, and we ended on a cliffhanger........

Anyhoo my main concern is..... IS LARRY ALRIGHT?! :o :ohnoes: :ohnoes:

We're also in debt to the mafia.

I think that wondering if Larry is OK is peanuts in comparison.

    Mafia goin' kill you.

Your not really in debt to the mafia that much. The penguin suit is.

Although what the mafia said about a human agent...I suspect that you become the human agent sooner or later....

And although nothing is conclusive, I like how this quest hints at the penguin, dwarf, and sea slug quests being connected.

  15.

Why should low-level players have a broader choice of equipment?

They outnumber us, by alot, and low levels are the future of the game.

    .

ok so they outnumber us by alot but really how long are they going to stay low leveld? even by playing casually it could only take a f2per a couple months to get 70s in combat, and once they have that generally many people start paying for the game which endows upon them countless new items.

another point is low lvled players do have a wide variety of choice for equipment. they have all the metal sets up to rune with a very wide range of weapons choice (however many ppl seem to stick with thier precious rune scimmys). part of giving so many new items to higher levels is to entice lower levels to train harder and also to buy membership.

also what is there really for higher level players to use? when u really look at it, mid level members can upgrade to dragon which in itself has a nice variety, however after that there is the whip and god swords. lower levels can use a new item set every 10 levels they gain. but this stops as soon as you hit 70 (for f2pers 40). obtaining level 70 is also fairly easy for any skill, being only 10% of the expierence required for 99. so wouldnt it make sense to add a few items that require higher levels to make this trianing go by a bit faster to beat the senseless grinding?

well that was just my 2 cents.

I don't know about you, but I'm not even sure if I was an f2p'er with a set of full rune within a year of when I started playing RS a lot. I'm 99% positive that I didn't have one within my first 6months. I spent guaranteed over a year and a half, probably 2 years, before I had the stats for barrows armour and a whip, and even longer before I could afford it. If all you do is focus on combat and slayer, yes, you will get to a high level fairly quickly, but if you add in skilling (I recently got 70+ all stats) questing (questcape ftw) diaries (have them all complete)....ANYways, that's a bit off topic, but the point is, the "casual" RS player generally doesn't get 70+ within a year...

For the guy who posted above me...Even if GOP IS boring, the reason it's played for rewards is because it's a lot less boring then conventional runecrafting....

And my understanding of Soul Wars is that it gives exp at much too high a rate. Although, considering the similarities to Castle Wars (and the amount of people who play that game, even though it doesn't really HAVE rewards in my opinion....) there is bound to be people who play that game because they enjoy it and use the points on exp as well.

    Still probably too overpowered...

  16. First article...I agree with it, but Oh the Irony. A rant about all the ranters.

Second article is in my opinion a very good idea for casual users of tipit; people who read the articles, use tipit features, but haven't gotten into the forum community. However, for most of the people who actually have an account to post with, it's redundant.

And I'm afraid I don't read fictional articles. In all honestly I'm probably too lazy >_<

    SUPPORT!!!

More organization would probably be good; however, once you get used to it, even the original spell order works fine (at least for me.) Still, not a bad idea.

SUPPORT!!! That button gets really annoying sometimes...

    Actually, here's a better idea.

Stop running around when your using the GE because the game thinks you ordered yourself to walk when you tried to click an item to purchase or just check the price of too quickly? Ugh...

    SUPPORT. Great idea.

As much as I think it's a good idea, I have a feeling that it might be technically infeasible.

SUPPORT - if the chat heads need to be updated for Hi-Def I support 100%!

SUPPORT. With the ability to bank all your equipment into the bank, it's not much a stretch to just choose to bank some, as some people have pointed out. Oh, and maybe it could go directly from your bank to you wearing it? Not sure how technically feasible that is though.

I don't play castle wars much, so my opinion isn't worth much; however, I think we should leave it how it is, as the barricades are meant to help the person with the flag escape easier. And the barricades don't stop ancients! Also, the idea with multiple people sounds might be too technically difficult.

SUPPORT - I think that special bar should always be there for members; maybe have an npc that can turn it off? Just so people have a choice. Sometimes for whatever reason, I use a weapon without a special, and I don't want to switch weapons just to find out the special isn't back.

SUPPORT - If Jagex actually releases randomly generated content, this should be one of the first things they do it with. Maybe they could test it out with it?

Interesting idea...But we DO have beast of burdens...

I'd like it, but I doubt Jagex would agree to it. Also, I am of the opinion that something like this should be an easy update that most people can enjoy. I DO NOT like the idea of it being something only high levels can use.

Although, someone made a suggestion that you "pay" charms to unlock it; it comes from a quest, but you only have gold to start with, pay 50 blues for the blue slot, etc. Credit to whoever made it up. I like that idea.

  18. pathetic article about the aviansies. it sounds like she doesnt even know what the game is about. "a guy with a zammy stole and fury"???? they're both weilded in the neck spot. and evryone knows that you cant use melee on them and there are only a few monsters in the erie(sp?) that you can. sara sword and whip? how did this article get by the editors cause my little brother could do better with 10 minutes of research. i love the Times, but this upsets me that something like this would waste my time when it was clearly done with very little knowledge of runescape.

    ---a frustrated reader.

When she mentioned the zammy stole, she said it was "cape-thing from the treasure trails" implying that she meant the zamorak CLOAK, not the stole.

That being said, the mistake shouldn't of been there in the first place, and you still can't melee aviansies...

  19. Normally I read all the articles before responding. Normally I read all the posts. But I just have to say it. The studying prayer in PVP article points out that you are a noob if you "use food, specials, prayer, potions or even his best equipment."

The real reason is the mentality behind a lot of PK'ers, not all PK'ers, just some...

They play it to feel superior. When they see someone using dragon claws or not, praying, etc., it causes them to insult in frustration at not being able to easily kick their...butt. If they DO kick a persons butt, they insult the person to feel superior to the person they just wasted. Honor has nothing actually to do with it. Some people just want to go in there and kill something weaker then them, not have a good fight.

I see this all the time in FOG because I don't wanna lose stuff on PVP >_<

NOT ALL PK'ERS ARE LIKE THIS.

But that is the mentality behind some of them, specifically the ones that call you a noob for doing anything that helps you win the fight.

As for prayer...ONE of the reason pray is looked down upon, in my opinion, is because the protection prayers are visible. If you can both use protection prayer, and both have around the some prayer level, all prayer does is drag out the fight; in an old school PVP area, with just rune vs rune, with each player having the same stats, the ONLY thing prayer does is drag out the fight. And protection prayer is easy to notice.

  20. TL;DR

Sorry, but what does this mean/stand for?

    Too long; didn't read

This is a response to the Tip.It Times: 10 May 2009.

I was too lazy to read it.

    ....

Honestly, if your not going to read it, why post in this topic?

  21. Something to note about skills...A large reason why many of the non-combat skills are a money loss has everything to do with skillcapes and little to do with the overwhelming amount of content involving killing. If you get a very large amount of people cooking 100k fish for the sake of the experience, it very quickly becomes unprofitable.

Although I agree that a lot of content has become centered too much around combat, skillcapes are in my personal opinion the reason why so many skills are such a money sink.

  22. Wake the muspah. Don't wake the muspah!" - and that's just the first of them! Syzygy nearing: Ritual too. Watch those scopes and learn what you can before it occurs. Ralvash was last, who is next? Me? You? No, we're not one of them.
What if the "scopes" it talks about here aren't telescopes but the mirrors you look through in the desert treasure quest.

    Another theory:

What if by scopes it is a reference to the real life trial of John Scopes about teaching evolution in school. If this is the case maybe it's saying a mahjarrat will evolve, maybe to godhood. What if the sacrifice isn't the weak one, but the strong one? Mahjarrat sacrifice the strongest mahjarrat so they can go join the gods, in turn that mahjarrat helps the mahjarrat still alive. That could explain while lucien was trying to get the stone of jas and the staff of armadyl. I'm guessing maybe they'd have to fight the gods so only the strongest gets to go.

Yeah I know, in my theory I completely flipped around everyone's thoughts.

I don´t really think Jagex would refer to recent news from the ´real world´, and it sounds a rather dangerous topic too, with religious people possibly getting offended and all...

The Scopes trial isn't exactly recent news. It was back in the 1920's if I remember correctly.

No offense, but I cannot see it having to do with the trial of John Scopes. I just see no reason to connect them other then the coincidental name; a name which simply has too many other meanings.

Besides, sacrificing the strong mahjarrat seems rather....difficult.(S)He wouldn't be very willing, I'd imagine...And the mahjarrat don't seem like a group of people that work together, unless it's something that mutually benefits them both.

I wonder if the scopes mean the Wise Old Man? Watch his telescope, learn what he's going to do before it happens...But it probably has something to do with the mahjarrat, and I have trouble seeing the Wise Old Man having something to do with them. He seems quite in denial about their very existence.

I bet this Ritual coming up is the one where Lucien is supposed to turn into a God. A ritual that we will (hopefully..) stop.

By the way! Very good thread! I could not see myself decoding his message.

EDIT: Re-reads post...so is the sacrifice for the ritual the one that becomes a God? Not really a sacrifice if he does...

  23. I actually thought my article wasn't that good, I sort of changed subject slightly in the second half of it, hell I almost scrapped the article so I'm surprised to see it get praised so much.

    Thanks <3:

If it makes you feel better, I think your article sucked o.O

    KIDDING

Good article, a nice reminder that Jagex is making life easier and not to complain too much. Would've been interesting if you added in things like Soul Wars or Pest Control to it, or perhaps Stealing Creation?

And yeah, the Did You Know seemed a bit obvious :P
